National Convention Holds On November 15 - PDP Insists by etokhana(op): 4:41pm On Nov 12, 2025
November 12, 2025

Press Statement

PDP National Convention to Go on as Scheduled on Saturday- @OfficialPDPNig, NCOC
…Thank Nigerians for overwhelming support

The National Working Committee (NWC) and the 2025 National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) informs all party members and the general public that the 2025 National Convention of the PDP has not been postponed but will go on as scheduled on Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The NWC and the NCOC urges Party members and Nigerians in general to disregard misleading claims being peddled to the contrary by some individuals who, it has been revealed, are recruited by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its failed attempt to stop the PDP National Convention.

We are aware of the plots by the APC to destabilize the opposition and impose a one-party state in the country; a design that will be lawfully resisted.

The NCOC and the Party will continue to work assiduously round the clock to ensure a successful National Convention in Ibadan as scheduled.

While thanking Nigerians for their overwhelming support for our Party, the NCOC welcomes all delegates, Party leaders, officials and all supporters of the PDP who have already started arriving Ibadan for the National Convention.

Signed:

Hon. Debo Ologunagba
National Publicity Secretary (PDP) and
Secretary Publicity and Communication Sub. Committee (NCOC)

The PDP should not proceed with this convention until all pending litigations are dispensed with.
It’s no doubt that some judges at the lower courts are complicit in delivering absurd rulings which goes contrary to established precedents. However two wrongs can’t make a right. Should they proceed with this convention despite an injunction restraining them, they may not be eligible to fill any candidate come 2027.

You can hold the convention but the cases that will come challenging every decision taken will be many. We are watching.

The supreme Court already ruled on this. The courts have no jurisdiction over a party's internal affairs. Unless they intend to go back on their verdict and set a dangerous precedence. The undermining of our democracy using serving cabinet ministers and other political appointees will be well documented. It is too convenient that ALL opposition parties are having similar leadership crisis. Someone seems hell-bent on running unopposed.

I no send the ogogoro brand ambassador. Proceeding with the convention will lead them into Wike’s trap.
Wike is hell bent on destroying the PDP. Makinde and his cohorts should not make the mistake of holding the convention without vacating the ruling.

If you check the roots of all this crisis then you will find greediness... ADC,PDP,LP all their leaders are old and greedy so I understand if they blame it on someone else.

Then who sponsored the adverts in the news media since morning about postponement.

Listening to the advert, I smelt mischief because the tone sounded very much like the groups that had been working day and night to stop the convention. They even quoted the two court orders that favoured them in the announcement and left out the Ibadan order that gave go ahead.

Make all of una just gettat

I beg to differ, let them proceed. The Supreme Court has already ruled that the party decides their internal affairs and if the members recognized by INEC are saying they are going on with it, its their internal decision abi na court go set date for them...

They obviously want to drag the matter to the supreme court where it established that courts can't interfere in the internal affairs of political parties.

Then Makinde faction should have relied on supreme court and not getting another judgement in Ibadan to proceed. Or why did they filed an appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja which restrained the party’s national convention?

Re: National Convention Holds On November 15 - PDP Insists by hotseat: 5:26pm On Nov 12, 2025
Going ahead with the national convention without first settling the lingering disputes within the party would likely amount to an exercise in futility.

This is so because more legal fireworks would be instituted against the party by aggrieved factions and such litigations could render all the time, resources and energy deployed to hold the convention be likened to a movement without motion.

Fingers crossed!

A serving FCT Minister a fomer governor of an oil rich state is going down? Check your brain, some screws are obviously missing. Is this convention going to stop him from influencing Rivers election in 2027? You know most of you are zombies, you don't think before you write on social media.
Wike won't influence anything in River state in 2027, and has no value unlike 2023 because Fubara is working directly with Tinubu now, in fact Wike has been rendered useless and is of no use to Mr. President
Baba Escobar is just waiting for the right time to get rid of that drunk.
