The same govt that said they met their revenue target in September.
After removing fuel subsidy, electricity tariff increment, floating the naira to get more revenue, 70% of Banks foreign exchange gains, increasing tuition fees, several loans borrowed.....still nothing to show.
Now, they are pursuing CGT to extort money from investors in the capital market.

I thought there was an audio target Tinubu government met sometime in August when he shamefully said 'we have met our target for the year 2025.

America met their target, disbursed 2k Dollar to all her citizens.

I thought they said they had met their revenue target and that there would be no need to borrow any more money. Why does APC always need lies and deceit to survive?

Besides, what exactly are they doing with all the monies borrowed? Loot and reloot of course!

This seems to be the worst Senate in the history of Nigeria. We thought Sen Lawan's senate was bad but this Akpabio's senate is worse. A normal Senate should serve as a check on the executive. They should be questioning the excessive borrowing but because they might be benefiting from the loot, they might not question it.
Lies and propaganda is their trademark.

My question to the urrrrchins is " where is subsidy money going to?" . They removed the only benefit of the common man to fund their lavish lifestyles , and they still keep on borrowing . What difference does removal of subsidy make?

You see how clueless they are. They don't have enough money to finance the budget but are embarking on white elephant projects.
Exactly. Nigerians should prepare their minds of what to come in the future. Most likely that we may have to cede some of Nigeria territory to the lenders. Places like Lagos for Port and some other states for minerals. Keep watching.

Many are “educated” few are knowledgeable.

This is how it works.
1) at the beginning of the year, the executive presents a budget. This budget will detail how much is required to be funded via borrowing. This is called the deficit.
2) when parliament approved the budget, (12 months ago) they also approve the borrowing. Approval of borrowing in January does not. Mean the borrowing takes place in January. It knows it is going to need borrowing to fund the budget, it doesn’t do the actual borrowing until it is needed. If I need to borrow to build a house of N500m, I get a loan facility from the bank but I only draw on the loan as I need or else I will pay interest on the whole 500m when I am not actually using it. Let’s say every stage in he building of a house takes a month. I will borrow to do the foundation, once finished I collect part of the loan to do the walls, once finished I collect another portion to do decking, walls, roof, finishing and so on. Even though I have approval, If I took the whole loan at once I will be paying interest every month for N500m I am not utilizing. Each time I finish one stage and need more, I go to the bank and say I need some more money from the loan you have approved, it’s the same loan, just that I am collecting it it stages as I need it.

Education is not a scam, it is only a scam if your education is of poor quality.

What the government Is doing is going back to the senate to take part of the loans already approved as part of the budget. They are not new loans.

Go to good school and your lives will be better for it.

Rubber stamp as usual. Even if the bill will kill Nigerians, They will approve it.
The saddest part is how opposition party senators are not making any noise about the loans and growing debt burden on 200 million Nigerians by Tinubu and APC who promised to stop borrowing because of higher tax burden on the people and $84 billion subsidy savings for expensive petrol and hyperinflation.

ManirBK:
Aug 28, 2023

The Federal Government says it has no intention to borrow from any local or foreign organisation with its removal of subsidy on petrol and exchange rate harmonisation.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Chief Wale Edun, revealed this at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday in Abuja.

He said that the benefit of the subsidy removal would be ploughed back into various sectors aimed at boosting government revenue and improving the business environment for local and foreign investment.

Edun said that with the increased revenue from subsidy removal, various palliatives have been made available to cushion its effect on a short, medium and long-term basis.

He reiterated the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s desire to bring back the economy from the wood it has found itself over time.

Why are they always borrowing when we actually have lots of resources to cater for our economy?

Okay. I agree education isn't scam and the fact that everyone isn't well versed in economics doesn't mean that one didn't go to school.

Since you're a mouthpiece for the government, can you please tell us what all these borrowed monies have been used to do? How have they bettered the lives of the masses?

The nations debt reserve is equivalent to almost 155 trillion on dollars - that is a lot of money! There is nothing wrong in borrowing but how is this god forsaken politicians intends to pay back that is exactly what I wanted to read.

Again making assumptions that I am a mouthpiece of the government simply because I corrected you is not a sign of good education.

A well educated person knows when to put bias and emotion aside and made statements based on facts available. Your opinion of me is not based on any fact.

As for what the borrowed monies have been used for. I am not a mouthpiece of government. Secondly since you claimed to have gone to school, surely you know where to look for the information you require or else what is the value in your education? I can tell you they are freely available and those who are properly educated know where to go.

You can start by looking at the budget.

Again not all education is good education.

Finally if you are not well versed in economics or any subject then don’t comment on it, certainly don’t comment authoritatively. There is no greater evidence of educated ignorance.

You aren't a mouthpiece of the government yet you swiftly mentioned me to defend the government on borrowing. What does that make you? You still haven't answered the question about what these borrowed monies have been used for and how they have bettered the lot of the masses these elected officials represent.

If you have no answer to this question please keep shut on my mentions because I won't reply sycophants like you.

You missed the point. Something that was already rationally and reasonably approved last year would not be disapproved or fought over now just to act drama or show you they are not rubber stamp. It's commonsense.
The Medium Term Framework which is like the long term or medium term plan for spending and borrowing was already discussed extensively and approved last year, both by the executive, legislative committees and representatives/senators from all over Nigeria including your village. The actual execution or bit by bit, short term is already contained. It's simply confirmed for execution.
So, except you have a superior idea, stop wailing.
