Since there is at yet no philosophy section here, I have to make do here. How many strange existential questions have you ever pondered? Examples: 1. What are you? 2. Do you exist? 3. Does the world around you exist? 4. Who are the people you see around you. Are they real, or reflections of your inner mind? 5. Is the world an experiment? 6. Is life a dream? 7. Assuming that you are real, and the world around you is real, what is the purpose of your existence? 8. Most people identify "God" as their creator. If you are such a theist (or even deist) what is that God to you? We will expand on these questions, on each one, on philosophical thoughts about each one, and many more, as we go along. |

DeepSight:Yeah. No philosophy section, seun! DeepSight:I am a human being. DeepSight:I exist. Ergo you read. DeepSight:Yes you exist. Ergo I perceive you. DeepSight:You are around me. People living with me are around me. My neighbours, my relatives and friends near and far and the people in the city and in the world are all around me. You all exist You are real You enter into my mind through the projection of your existence. I did not make you all up in my inner mind. DeepSight:Like by some Scientist in a Laboratory? No. I don't think the world is an experiment, unless you'd rather I make one up in my "inner mind" of course. /s for sarcasm. DeepSight:No life isn't a dream. Dreaming I ate a banquet does not kill my real life hunger. DeepSight:The purpose of my existence is to live. DeepSight:Being neither "most people" nor "theist (or even deist)", I can say "God" is a very interesting archetype. |

Boody has taken care of all and where he says his purpose is to live mine is to enjoy and rock living. Then for question 8, is there any answer than Creator? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by RealityKings1: 9:30pm On Nov 10, 2025 |
If you view the world from space, the whole earth is one. Everything is 1. There are several creators but that doesn't negate the existence of the master maker. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 3:12pm On Nov 11, 2025 |
RealityKings1:Now, what do you mean by several creators? Because when we Christians say Creator, we mean only Him One is the Creator and the Owner of us and this House we call world. |

Deepsight, to enable us answer your questions, may be you should look at the following; 1: To you, what is existence? 2: What is life? 3: What is dream? |

Before I have a go at number 8, deepsight, what is your idea of "God"? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 7:08am On Nov 12, 2025 |
Lemme add: 1. What is mind? 2. What are thoughts? 3. Why do things like placebo and nocebo work? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Image123(m): 3:02pm On Nov 13, 2025 |
LordReed:Lolz, so you accept that placebo and nocebo work, but have problems with faith. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 5:39pm On Nov 13, 2025 |
Image123:How can we distinguish between placebo/nocebo effect and faith? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Image123(m): 7:46pm On Nov 13, 2025 |
LordReed:They are all belief/expectations. There's an according to your faith. There are levels/grades of faith, and what or who you believe in. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 4:30am On Nov 14, 2025 |
Image123:If placebo works without belief in a magic sky daddy then there is no need for it. To me that indicates there isn't a sky daddy at all because you cannot produce any effect from your faith in magic sky daddy that is distinguishable from natural occurrence both in efficacy and frequency. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by DeepSight(op): 4:32am On Nov 14, 2025 |
LordReed:+ His argument bears no component of a magic sky daddy. The argument is that what you believe will have an effect on you. It's a correlation between thought and your reality. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 6:42am On Nov 14, 2025 |
DeepSight:I assumed he was arguing for his type of faith not faith in general but still it negates the need for faith in a deity don't you think? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by DeepSight(op): 6:46am On Nov 14, 2025 |
LordReed:+ Of course being who he is we both know ultimately it's a stepping stone to an argument for his God. Nevertheless the point he was making was brief, being that what one believes can affect ones reality. A long long time ago, I did a thread titled "Belief and Reality". . . Pls see the OP. https://www.nairaland.com/467772/belief-reality But yes, I see what you mean. The principle holds that no sky daddy is required for this. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 8:10am On Nov 14, 2025 |
LordReed: DeepSight:Do we not have things that works without belief eg biro, pencil, phone? All these placebo-nocebo things are these not borne out of something called spiritual power? If there was no human interference do people not already do the placebo-nocebo things on their own? Eg a person who drinks palmwine and falls sick blames it on the palmwine, even when the palmwine tapper was not there. Or the one who says he was feeling sick and then he drank stout and feels better even though the brewer is not there. There is the place of belief eg the first time flyer or first time using a lift and there are places where beliefs are out of play. |

DeepSight:I have questions even though I want to agree with the statement that belief shapes reality. The statement seems too simple to actually capture our experiences in words. I think I see something there but it hasn't resolved itself into a clear outline. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 1:05pm On Nov 14, 2025 |
LordReed:Real eyeity also shapes belief. Exactly how today the real eyeity shows women are bad wives. Now, belief must follow it |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by sonmvayina(m): 2:20pm On Nov 14, 2025 |
DeepSight:1. who am i? i am the universe experiencing the universe, as a man. 2. Do i exist? of cause, i do at this time. since time does not really exist, i will always exist and since the universe exist, i also exist. 3.Does the world around you exist? The world around me exist, they are all part of the universe, since the universe is one, we are all in it and it is in us. 4. The people i see around me are an extension of my self, we are the universe experiencing life in multiple ways. the body only makes it looks like we are different but in actual fact, there is no space between us. we are one. 5. The world is not an experiment, earth is not an audition for the after life, heaven or hell. life itself is all there is as there is no such this as death. it is an illusion. 6. this earthly life is a dream, the real world is the none physical world. 7. The purpose of my existence is to experience the physical world. 6.God is the totality of the consciousnesses of the universe, |

Number 8 implies that these questions are for deists and theists only And also these questions are vague |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Image123(m): 6:37pm On Nov 14, 2025 |
LordReed:Lolz, belief or expectation or trust does not have to be only in God. It was not designed that way; no less than love is only to be for God. It only exposes the untapped realm you've missed out on. They are not dependent on each other in the sense. Faith or belief in oneself, or in a person, has produced outstanding results over the ages. Hopefully, you don't deny that. Faith in God is the highest form of faith. It also matters what you believe God for. We have believed God for things you don't intend to believe, so we're not complaining. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 9:16pm On Nov 14, 2025 |
Image123:Except not really. There is no evidence faith in a deity affects wellness outcomes in clinical tests. The outcomes follow exactly the same pattern as the general population. Designed in what way? In a way that can not produce results beyond what is to be expected? How is that indicative of a design or any sort of deliberate functioning? Placebo/nocebo doesn't always work same with your faith so what design are you talking about? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 8:35am On Nov 15, 2025 |
LordReed:How do you put God and clinical test in the same statement? Does that make sense to you? And is it not facts tested by gen pop that we believe and work with? If Wike's incident took place in a clinical trial are you not the first to say that a clinical trial is not real living? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 9:42am On Nov 15, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:You post isn't making sense. Reread what you replied to. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 10:25am On Nov 15, 2025 |
LordReed:That is because you are looking at it from the narrow view forgetting that clinical trial means that man is in full control of the trial environment. Whereas, God/deity means A Power beyond the full control of man Who operates at His Own discretion and convenience. Therefore, it is not logical to put God and clinical test in the same place. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 2:10pm On Nov 15, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:Where do I mention putting the deity and clinical test together? Reread what I wrote and stop making strawman statements. |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 3:15pm On Nov 15, 2025 |
LordReed:You have started again. Always ready to deny your own words when you real eyes that you do not have any valid thing to counter. Is this not where you raised the issue which I even specifically quoted and responded from? LordReed: ![]() |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by LordReed(m): 5:15pm On Nov 15, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:You quoted what I wrote and still went on to create a strawman. Did I write god/deity or faith in a deity? Do you not understand those are 2 different things? |
| Re: Strange Existential Questions by Dtruthspeaker: 6:22pm On Nov 15, 2025 |
LordReed:See how dishonest you always are when you do not have any valid thing to say? If I strawmaned your statement you would have said so since instead of playing the pretence denial card. ![]() Is God not deity? And Is your point not about denying faith in God because of clinical tests? You words "There is no evidence faith in a deity affects wellness outcomes in clinical tests". have already sunk you. Plus, we can all see that you are now trying to hide "clinical tests" from your statement, now that you see that you have been caught and you still do not have any reasonable thing to say. |

DeepSight:Your answers are in the Bible. Youre Gods creation and you were made for a purpose . The question now is How can you trust a book? The bible speak for itself . Just a study on the book of Daniel especiallly chapter 2 should clear every doubt about the existence of the BIG DADDY up . Because it predicted the emergence of world Super powers from the Time of Babylonian empire to date . Thousands of years Even before the Emepires emerged. Daniel 2:38-40 (KJV) 38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. 39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. 40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. . . What are these kingdoms Babylon ,Medes,Persia, Greek, Rome . And the present Age of Iron and clay |
