| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by dere5: 1:55pm On Nov 06, 2025 |
HeavenlyBang:Splendid! But they should try and look for a way of doing their maintenance without disrupting the service |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by HeavenlyBang(op): 1:57pm On Nov 06, 2025 |
dere5:It was probably not planned maintenance since they usually send mails for that ahead of schedule and it's usually in the night. This was likely a system issue they had to fix. |

I just got this mtn fibreX. Please how do i get the backup battery for the router? How much and how long backup? Im at Ajah lagos. This was installed on monday but was activated on tuesday. Around 1am yestday, internet went off, i put it off and on, but nothing. I also thought it was cos of the hotness of the router. I later got to know it was a general issue. So far, its been very fast. |

Thane:I just the 8800 mah smart key energy powerbank for 23k today, hopefully it serves this well and lasts. |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by HeavenlyBang(op): 3:55pm On Nov 08, 2025 |
Thane:Too small. At 3.7v that's just 32.56wh and most routers draw 12w, so less than three hours backup time. |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by dasphinx1(m): 5:02pm On Nov 09, 2025 |
Thane:Get atleast a 20,000mah powerbank instead |

| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by omoboy08(m): 6:30pm On Nov 10, 2025 |
KemoSabe:Thanks all setup now. The speed is waaooo, Streamed premier league match in HD without any buffering. I was surprised that they have increased their minimum sub to 25k though. Spectranet can suck my unused 90GB balance. No dey sub again after all these years of laggy network |

Received calls today from like three different MTN agents asking me if I still have issues with my FibreX.. Told them the issue has been rectified but I am still waiting for my compensation. They said they will escalate and ensure I receive the compensation, so I will be waiting. I will not forget easily sha, they must compensate me, those six days of downtime that they sent me back to the stone age with suffering, I will not easily forget. They must give me compensation |

nani667:😂. Very considerate of them to do a follow up, hopefully you get appropriately compensated. Their fibre is now live in my location, I am expecting installation this week based on the info gotten from their agent in my area. |

puremaker7:True. But the 50Mbps is capped at 1TB, after which your speed is reduced to 2Mbps. So, be careful how you blaze it. Don't download and stream unnecessarily. On the other hand, no one has been able to tell us if they have used beyond 1 or 2TB on the fibreX without any further speed cap. |

puremaker7:It's capped at 1TB and then speed drop to KBps |

I'm enjoying my device here at Irhirhi road in Benin City, it's a truly great experience, there was a little downtime today and an SMS was sent to apologize and service was restored quite fast, and an SMS was sent to inform me also. The only thing is that you can't get service when you go out, but that doesn't bother me as I'm a homebody and only go out when necessary, and in that situation, I buy data on my phone

oloet:not related but omo, this phone no go dey last battery o. Only 1phone has bluetooth+2sims+locationsServices ALL active at the same time For context though, you could restrict both sims services to edge/2G except for when you're out of your wifi zone and want to use Mobile Data. bluetooth seems connected so i guess you're actively using it but mehn, the whole load just caught my attention and i can only imagine the battery drain ![]() NB: Don't mind me o but you fit take am serious sha ![]() |

puremaker7:Yes, I am considering getting the Airtel, that is what I even wanted to get during the period that they sent me back to the dark ages with their downtime. I wanted to spend that 25K fibre sub on the Airtel ODU, but the time was the issue sha, since I have to go to their office for the device. I don't know why one cannot register for the airtel ODU online and have it delivered. If I could get the device without needing to visit their office I would already be on the Airtel ODU by now. If I don't receive my compensation from MTN before my current sub expires I will try and find time and visit the Airtel office sha, Airtel network is decent in my area so I won't mind giving it a try. |
