He implied that Africa had too many teams inspite of the fact that Europe has over 40% of the total representation. There are more countries in Africa but Europe has more teams in the competition make it make sense.

He is factually asserting that it has become difficult over the years for European teams to get to the world cup while African participation has trippled since 1994. Meanwhile for South America with few countries, the majority of countries in that continent get to participate.

so what exactly is he trying to say? Whose fault is it that Europe has many countries? Most countries in Europe have less than 20 million population. Small area that should be a city is called a country yet he's here blaming Africa. They should merge the smaller countries together so that they can have fewer countries fighting for the available slots

In 1994, out of the 24 teams that went to the WC, Europe got more than half with 13! To put some perspective, their population is less than 1/2 of Africa's, less than 1/6 of Asia, almost the same as North America and not even double of South America.

To add more pepe to that ridiculous number, in their own competition, the Euros in 1992 , only 8 teams participated.... which means more teams from Europe went to the WC than their own personal tournament!!

I'm still disturbed by what standard Gatuso feels Africa with 54 footballing Nations with only 9 automatic slots for the world cup need fewer team whereas he feel Europe with 55 teams with just 1 team more than Africa but with 16 automatic slots still deserves more slots at the wold cup.
South America with about 10 footballing Nations with 6 automatic slots isn't problem enough because you share same skin colour, but Africa is your major concern.
