CAS SUMMONS THEATRE COMMANDERS, SETS NEW COURSE FOR SMARTER AND HARDER AIR STRIKES TO SECURE NIGERIA The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, DFS, has convened a high-level strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders from all operational theatres at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja. The session, held under the new leadership’s directive, focused on intensifying precision air operations and delivering smarter, harder, and more decisive strikes against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements undermining Nigeria’s peace and stability. The engagement marked a decisive step in recalibrating the NAF’s operational posture and strengthening inter-service synergy for enhanced national security outcomes. Addressing the commanders, Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the imperative of agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare to effectively counter evolving threats across all theatres. “We must fly smarter and strike harder, every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he charged. The CAS underscored the need for synchronization of intelligence-led air, land, and maritime operations to ensure joint mission success, assuring that the NAF will continue to work closely with sister services and security agencies to achieve unified operational effectiveness. Reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare, innovation, and continuous training, the CAS pledged to equip airmen and airwomen with the tools and skills required for mission success. He reiterated that the NAF remains dedicated to supporting the government’s vision of peace and security, while upholding international standards of conduct, discipline, and accountability. Charging commanders to translate strategy into decisive action, Air Marshal Aneke declared: “The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. “WE WILL HUNT THEM DOWN AND PROTECT OUR PEOPLE,” SAYS CAS AS HE VISITS NORTHWEST OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA SECTOR 2 The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s determination to eliminate terrorists, insurgents, and criminal elements threatening national stability. During an operational visit to the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2/213 FOB Katsina, he charged personnel to intensify efforts in line with the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to decisively neutralise all threats to Nigerians. Emphasising that heightened security complexities and the sacrifices of fallen heroes demand unwavering focus, he stressed that federal support through modern platforms, advanced weaponry, and enhanced training must translate into ruthless precision and operational dominance. “We cannot relent for a moment,” he cautioned. “The nation is counting on us to restore peace and reclaim every inch of territory challenged by insurgents and criminals.” Commending the courage and professionalism of troops, Air Marshal Aneke declared that the NAF will remain relentless until all threats to national sovereignty are neutralised. “Wherever they hide, whether in forests, valleys, or remote villages, our forces will find them, and we will strike with precision. Our mission is clear: to hunt them down and to protect our people.” He underscored that decisive warfare must be matched with robust welfare, affirming that personnel safety, training, motivation, and equipment will remain top priorities. “A force that fights hard must also live well,” he said, reaffirming ongoing investments in modern capabilities, intelligence systems, and technology-driven operations to secure long-term strategic advantage in the air and on the ground. In his welcome remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, assured the CAS of the troops’ unwavering readiness to actualise his strategic vision for the NAF. The Air Component Commander, Air Commodore CE Illoh, also briefed the CAS on the campaign plan, recent operational gains, and evolving strategies across the theatre. Accompanied by senior officers, the CAS toured operational and administrative facilities including the Operation, Engineering and Logistics areas as well as medical and sporting infrastructure, before holding an interactive durbar with personnel. “You represent the pride of our nation and the hope of millions who sleep in peace because you stay awake,” he told them. “This fight is about securing our future. Every flight must count, employing actionable intelligence to achieve a defined contribution to the overall campaign plan.” The visit reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to decisive, intelligence-led, and precision-driven operations to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and its people. #NigerianAirForce #CASAneke #FANSANYAMMA #NAFOperations #SecureNigeria #DefendingTheNation #AirPower #NationalSecurity #SmartAndHardStrikes #ProtectingOurPeople

Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Yusuf Dari, congratulated the graduates, describing the ceremony as a proud moment in NAF’s transformation journey towards smarter, technology-driven, and precision-led air operations. Air Marshal Aneke, in his remarks, noted that the newly winged operators bear the noble responsibility of defending Nigeria’s airspace with professionalism, precision, and honour. NAF PRECISION STRIKES SHATTER HIGH-GROUND TERRORIST STRONGHOLD IN TSAFE, ZAMFARA The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air Component of the Joint Task Force of Operation FANSAN YAMMA has achieved a major operational breakthrough following precision air interdiction missions conducted on 14 November 2025 at the Sauri bandit camp in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The mission was undertaken after comprehensive intelligence and surveillance operations confirmed significant terrorist activity and rustled livestock concealed on a high-ground hideout used by the criminals as both a defensive position and a logistics hub. Acting on this intelligence, the Air Component executed multiple coordinated strike passes on the identified targets, achieving direct hits that dislodged surviving terrorists attempting to flee into surrounding vegetation, where they were subsequently tracked and effectively engaged. The successful mission resulted in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical structures and logistics points, significantly degrading the criminals’ operational capability in the area. This decisive action reinforces the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who has consistently pledged that the NAF will “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people.” The operation underscores the unwavering resolve of the Joint Task Force and the NAF under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists safe havens, strengthen security in Zamfara State, and support wider national efforts to restore lasting peace and stability across the North West. Odunayaw:What's the new low there...? Until we stop praising mediocrity, we would continue to hear news like this...don't be surprised one day we all would wake up to the news that the chief of defence staff have been abducted by these useless boys...!! Until the armed forces reset themselves we all would be going in circle...! Whenever the civilians come out to protest and demand for a better Nigeria, same armed forces would come out and shoot them off...protecting the same idi0ts who put Nigeria in this shameful position...!! Hard on or hard off...e no concern me, no be me dey die anyhow..!!! When Nigeria use to be Nigeria, would you even see a Brigadier-General talk more of some useless small small boys with ak rifles collecting his vehicles, armours and forcing him to trek back to base on foot? |

Floky215:The news is somehow painful and paints the NA bad, but i didnt see where it states the patrol was on foot. There convoy could be ambushed and they fought there way through. This could be messy if a brigadier was captured along with is men, just imagine the propaganda this terrorist would make out of it. |

Odunayaw:Because a general officer should never be on routine patrol. Its unfathomable. It is not a field-grade rank. For example, the US army has about 50-60k active-duty officers. Roughly 20 percent of active-duty. Out of that, only about 200 general officers or 0.15 percent thereabout. Even colonels are rare and have reduced field duties. I'm not sure Nigerian army has up to 18k officers or even half of that. Data on the internet says 5000-6000. That is abysmally small for a military of 180k. The number of officers is not even up to 4%. Yet somehow the general officers number into hundreds. It is strange and the reason that could be happening might be because the general office ranks o-7 and o-8 are unrestricted. Another issue might be a near lock step promotional system from o-1 to o-8. Inevitably, this will lead to lower number of junior officers than required and higher number of senior officers than required, cause only a handful of junior officers are thus commissioned to maintain the class system. That should only happen at the junior ranks whereby many junior officers are commissioned, and the promotion or retirement system is then highly competitive so that only a few move into senior ranks. |

Faithful007:In essence, your arguments is built on... air? Anyway, if you removed the US tinted goggles you'd have noted that inthe Royal Army (UK) where we get our heritage, Brigadiers is field rank. Brigadiers here would often get off their behinds and follow their men on clearing patrols for morale boost. What you think about it is water under bridge |
| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Faithful007: 11:47am On Nov 17, 2025 |
Odunayaw:Maybe you cannot understand details. So let me break it down for you. Your officer cadre is class based, top heavy and bottom light. That's why you can afford to have o-7 officers in the battlefield cause they're numerous and not precious to the military. They're just there by years in service and not by being the best of the best. A General officer with 30 men on routine patrol is not giving any morale boost to the rest of the hundreds in the brigade that are not with him. A standard military system will have hundreds of junior field and company grade officers at their posts doing the morale boost. |
