Here is a president making efforts to rescue their elite and high profile brother from prison through influence and diplomacy, and here are they throwing different impediments on the way against the project.

What political influence do they think the president seeks to gain through Ekweremadu in their region that Tinubu has not already gained without him? At least 3 of their governors are staunch allies of Tinubu and his party. To really consider it, how much is their total votes that Tinubu will go all out to win it? He won without it in his first term, and this time it is almost a shoo-in for him to win.

When Igboho was thrown into prison in Benin Republic, the whole Y0ruba race use every available influence to rescue him from it, even though he serves no viable purpose to their aspirations, except publicity.

MNK would have been out of prison if they are determined to help him, but no, they are only interested in public spite against the government.

You keep repeating the “if it were your family member” line because you don’t have a real argument. Nobody is against helping him — the point is that government actions can be both helpful and politically motivated at the same time. And no, everything isn’t “politics” just because you say so. A treaty ignored for 10+ years suddenly being revived for one elite politician is not normal governance — it’s selective intervention, and pretending not to see that doesn’t make you loyal, it just makes you gullible.
