Chief Olabode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said it will take a minimum of four years to readmit the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, into the party—unless the National Executive Committee (NEC) intervenes.

Speaking on Sunday in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent, George said Wike’s expulsion, alongside those of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and several other party leaders, was a decision of the PDP national convention held on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by George and seconded by Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Samaila Buga.

George stated that because the expulsion was approved at the party’s highest decision-making body, only another national convention—held every four years—can formally reverse it.

“Wike must be dreaming if he thinks he can nullify the convention we had in Ibadan,” George said. “This party was founded on justice, fairness and equity. He crossed the rubicon, and we have tolerated him enough. Perpetually, he keeps saying he will work for Bola Tinubu in 2027 and yet he is still a member of the PDP. Does that make any sense? We don’t want a person with a lukewarm attitude in our party.”

However, George noted that if Wike and others show genuine remorse, the NEC—next in hierarchy to the convention—could exercise its authority to pardon them.

“If they retrace their steps, apologise and beg to be accepted into the fold, why not?” he said. “Because that decision was taken at the highest body of the party, it will take another four years to reconsider whether they will likely be accepted. But if we see genuineness in their behaviour, the NEC can reconsider them.”

The development marks yet another escalation of tensions within the PDP, as debates continue over loyalty, internal discipline and the party’s future direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

How can a party have a group of people as members who are openly claiming to be too powerful to sanction , and even follow rules and are openly working with another party . They even said it openly that they works against the party and made the party lose the last election . Even APC won't tolerate such for long as PDP did

I love this man Bode George, I don't necessarily dislike Wike for he was my ex Governor but there should be some level of sanity even in politics.

You cannot be in APC at the same time be a member of PDP.

Atiku is a betrayer ,opportunist but Atiku will not throw common sense and caution into the wind and be bragging about his misdeeds and betrayal openly on social media ,press briefings and publicly. Fayose too later copies Wike and started saying they made. PDP to lose how can that statement be justified ? Not only is that act murderous it is also dumb from people like fayose . Wike openly said it that he made his party to lose ,you think if Wike was to be in APC ,they won't have expelled him long time ago?
Both PDP ,Wike ,Atiku and even this seyibare all the same but the sensible ones among them know the importance of statement ,therefore they guide their public comments

Tinubu is a public figure who is funded by my taxes, which he is unfortunately squandering and stealing. As an alleged election rigger and certificate forger, not to mention a person of interest due to his alleged involvement in the narcotics trade and money laundering, he has neither earned nor deserves my respect.

If my father had the above pedigree, I would immediately disown him.

A man who instructs his children to grab it, snatch it, and run with it. A man who allegedly sends those he should mentor and guide towards meaningful lives into the streets, and even onto platforms like Nairaland, to act as urchins and political thugs should be called exactly what he is. In fact, the children of such a man ought to distance themselves from him, if they have not already done so.

God bless you brother for the honest truth! Give PDP three months without Wike PDP will not only be revived but it will muscle out power with APC, President Tinubu knows this that's why he is using Wike as a tool to destroy the party. All these waves of defections, inconsistency and crisis is because of Wike and his cronies Wike himself knows that if he leaves PDP the party will breathe a new breath which will be an embarrassment to him. Equally, PDP is why Wike is alive politically.
