I am not in support of injury to any child. The importance of displine especially in schools cannot be overemphasized. There should be moderation in all things. Students must have some fear factor for authority especially for teachers.
We dared not challenge any teacher during our time.

.A teacher claimed he slapped a student for reportedly pushing him twice. Later, during a meeting with the principal and the parents, the situation escalated when the parents began slapp!ng the teacher back too 😭💔.

Same thing happened to my ex at the school she works just about 2 weeks ago. A parent slapped her and promised to deal ruthlessly with her because she disciplined her son, just a week later (last Sunday) my ex died. I am still in shock till date

Spanking ... not slapping a child is a form of disciplinary action. Maybe if he spanked the boy ... this wouldn't be news. The fear in the he days of old was not of the the teacher ... but if the parents. As in this case .... in the old days from he boy would've very well been itching to return the slap or push the teacher ...no fear .... the fear would be if his parents found out about it what will happen to him.

There's a private school in Ikorodu side where the proprietor always frowns whenever teachers want to go home after school closes by 5pm. If he wants to call a meeting, the meeting won't start until after 5pm and will last nothing less than 2 hours.

It's really a curse to be poor in this country.

I'm a teacher and if I mildly discipline your child and you come at me and slap me honestly I will show you madness. This teacher both parents beat up like this is so calm. I watched the video and felt terrible.

if the parents want to raise a rubbish child, they should keep the child at home period. You send your kids to school so they can learn and be disciplined so you can have a well behaved and morally upright child. If you don't want it so then keep your rotten tomatoes at home. You alone would bear the stench when poo hits the fan and it surely always does.

See eh, if you ever find yourself teaching any of my children in your so-called school of thought, NEVER IN YOUR LIFE MAKE THE MISTAKE OF PUTTING YOUR FINGERS ON THEM. That will be the day you will see me personally and I will make sure you can not forget me. If you can not train a child without resorting to physical violence, why are you even a teacher? You are better off working as a boxing instructor then I know beating is allowed somehow.

Children need to be reprimanded whenever they do wrong. You save the future/soul of that child if you do so. The moral decadence we are experiencing today is caused by the fact that we copied the ways of the Western world, whose society has totally collapsed morally. We are already experiencing it with the ungodly, morally bankrupt youths we have amongst us today. No respect for elders/authority, No compass of what is right or wrong, selfish and self-centered, etc. It's just as the Bible said in 2 Timothy 3. If you care, read it up and compare with what is happening today.

No doubt... children need to be reprimanded but where do we draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable disciplinary actions? I guess this has to be cultural ... what's accepted in one region may be unacceptable in another.

Although I will not support what the parents did, why would a teacher slap or physically assault a young student? Slap? Naaaaah!

The teacher could have told the child to kneel. Other punishments can be utilized. No need for physical assault. What if the child had fallen and refused to wake up?

Keep your child at home and homeschool him if you so choose. Molly your child, whenever he does wrong. You will cry tears of blood when the time comes. I know a ton of people who did this and today they are crying. I was even with one yesterday. Have a nice day.

of course homeschool is an option I don't have which is why I send them to an academic school. If I wanted them to be beaten up for their mistake, I would send them to a boxing school

if you can not train a child without resorting to physical violence, you have failed as a teacher. I am not sure they thought you so at the teachers training college.

You don't know the damage you cause if you deny your child being disciplined. The teachers would look away from all his wrongdoings. The implication is you will have a spoilt rotten child who will later grow up to be a torn to your flesh.
I know people that are going through this today and it's not funny for them.
If you choose to spoil your kids that's your problem. You alone will carry the load when the disgrace and opprobrium comes.
