Commentators who say goat farming is profitable are abusing the term "profitable". Animal husbandry in the US has very thin profits, as the bulk of the profits lies in processing to final meat, which also has a thin profit margin. Beef ranchers do complain of the costs involved in raising their herd of cows, so how come goat farming is profitable, whereas it is not widely consumed in the US compared to beef? |
