FLAG OFFICER COMMANDING SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND MAIDEN VISIT TO HQ OPERATION HADIN KAI AND NAVAL BASE LAKE CHAD, BORNO STATE On Wednesday, 12 November 2025, the Flag Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (FOC SOC), Rear Admiral OO Soyemi, accompanied by the Chief of Operations Officer, Commodore MA Mohammed, and the Commander Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (NNSBS), Captain A Zidon, commenced his maiden operational visit to Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in Borno State. The FOC and his entourage were received by the Theatre Commander OPHK, Major General AE Abubakar, alongside his Principal Staff Officers. The FOC was subsequently briefed on ongoing operational activities, with particular emphasis on the Maritime Component. On completion of the brief, the Theatre Commander formally welcomed the FOC to the Theatre and appreciated the Nigerian Navy for its continued manpower and materiel support to OPHK. He further requested additional assistance from Naval Headquarters to enhance ongoing operations. In his response, Rear Admiral Soyemi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the SOC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and synergy in support of OPHK’s operational objectives. He also assured the Theatre Commander that all requests would be duly communicated to Naval Headquarters. On Thursday, 13 November 2025, the FOC and his team, accompanied by the Maritime Component Commander OPHK, Commodore ME Ejumabone, proceeded to Naval Base Lake Chad (NBLC), Baga. The team received a comprehensive brief and tour from the Commander, Commodore PG Yilme, after which the FOC addressed personnel, commending their dedication and urging them to sustain their robust operational posture in confronting terrorists and criminal elements within the Area of Operations. Highlights of the visit included a stop at the Nigerian Army UAV Command and an inspection of Nigerian Navy–donated land on the outskirts of Maiduguri. CORRECTION: Gen. Uba, Brigade Commander of Damboa has been comfirmed killed by ISWAP terrorists Before his unfortunate capture, the Brigade Commander made this video we shared stating that he was okay. Unfortunately, after several hours, lost orientation within the forest. The troops, both ground and air made several efforts to rescue the Commander who told them he was on his way to return to his base. He was unfortunately re-captured by the terrorists after viral report of his abduction went viral. @DHQNigeria @HQNigerianArmy Sources" @Zagazola

Freshandfitpod:I knew something fishy was wrong about the whole report, even this report about communicating with the Commander before he was lost and captured is still fabricated. What the Nigerian Army communicated after the ambush raises alot of questions following ISWAP's evidence that they had captured Brigadier General Yu Uba. The NA command needs to restrategize,

A whole brigadier was embarrassed by teen terrorist. What an embarrassment for the army and the country as a whole. The way the army rush out to tag news media report fake, only for them to be proven right. Now tell me why will the majority of the ignorant population believe army report concerning this fight against these outlaws. The army re eager to call any report fake than to protect its human asset. Isn't this a failure on the army, thesame army that re always arrogant in the face of civilian. Always claiming one useless superiority, they spend more time boosting their ego than getting the job done. We won't have mind the ego and superiority thing if the enemy re fearful of them like they want the civilian to be towards them but NO na one useless superiority they go dey claim. Superiority ontop nothing. All institutions feels garbage, they re all weak nd no intention to fix it, they prefer it like that and any intention to fix it is always resisted, I have never seem such a thing in any serious country. |

VonSmallhausen:Its the NA hierarchy that is been disgraced and humiliated. For me all i see is a R.I.P soldier, All lives are precious and No life is superior than the other. The army high command has been complacent enough, they will know what it feels like loosing close brother in arm. Our red neck at the top arm of affairs, making decisions are heartless, clueless and dont have value for soldier lives, only few of them are good. Anyways I smell a mole in all these |

Odunayaw:How so? Are you now arguing for arguments sake? "I'm not sure Nigerian army has up to 18k officers or even half of that. Data on the internet says 5000-6000. That is abysmally small for a military of 180k. The number of officers is not even up to 4%. Yet somehow the general officers number into hundreds." This is data on the internet. NDA websites states that 349 army cadets were commissioned in 2023. Lets even assume that this was the number for 35 years. You and I know it would even be less in earlier years. 349 *35 will put the number of officers at 12215 assuming everyone served up to 35 years which is not even possible cause you even have 10 yrs and 15 yrs cadets. 12215 which is by far a long shot, is still very low for a 180k army. Thats way below 10 percent. However, your number of generals somehow is high. https://www.thecable.ng/full-list-army-promotes-108-generals/ You promoted a whole 108 generals. Thats 108 generals excluding those already in rank. Nigerian army has high number of senior ranks and a low number of officers. That's not a claim. Its a fact that the internet can easily prove. |

Odunayaw:Lol. I knew you would say this. British Army always had Brigadier Generals. It was removed briefly after world war 1. The rank brigadier came about as a field appointment for colonels. Its wasn't a rank but an appointment to command a brigade. The British army reinstated the rank as Brigadier prior to joining NATO. They didn't bring back the General appendage to it, but operationally it's still the same Brigadier General they had during WW1. All NATO militaries are organized identically in rank and command. A brigadier is an OF-6 NATO general officer rank which is equivalent to an O-7 rank in the US. All NATO militaries have equivalent rank. Btw if the Nigerian Army really thought the Brigadier was a field rank operationally, who then added General to it? You're just confusing yourself |

Faithful007:Claim; Nigeria Army doesn't have 18k officers or half of that" Source; Uhh," data on the internet" (aka AI and unverified info) and this skewed maths Actual figures cited by then COAS Buratai in 2016 was 6,000 officers and soldiers 96,000. with 'Order of Battle 2010' plan called for this to grow to 18,966 officers and about 190,000 soldiers. I know there are more generals bbbecause I saw a news blog Doesn't grasp how retirements especially at the appointment of new service chiefs affect the top brass Look, your attempt at passing off as an expert is very amusing |

Odunayaw:Lol. You're a character indeed . Now you've ended up supporting my points. You have unknowingly collaborated my first statement that your officer cadre count is generally low6000/96000 is 6.25 percent which is way too low. Standard militaries around the world have officer ranks around 15-20 percent. 15 percent is even rare. You've also collaborated my second statement that you run the officer cadre as a class system where people get promoted mostly based off service year rather than being the best. That's why you have to retire a lot of generals when a new O-9 chief emerges, cause almost everyone in that same service year or above is a major-general. That's why you promote a lot of generals too. This is not how a standard military system should work. This kind of system will make yo have too many senior officers than required and fewer junior officers than required. Read to understand my man. Always read to understand. Don't argue too quickly. And btw I don't think I've ever looked at AI before writing anything military related here, you may not believe it but its true. Don't assume that everyone on the internet is cosplaying knowledge. |

You're still clutching 6000/96000 even after I debuked that was an old figure?! Where is that boldness you had with your "i'm not sure Nigeria army has up to half of 18k officers"? 😂 Silly pride will make you not admit you goofed Next, you said absolutely nothing about class system. That's a bold faced lie. You're yet to prove there are more senior officers than necessary Like I said, you're amusing me as you keep doubling down 😂 Faithful007: |

😂This is almost painful to read After being schooled that like the UK, the rank is a field officer you're hear crying "bbbut why add general to it" Yourself explained the equivalence of the rank (OF-6= O-7) YET it flies over your head that despite that, for the UK Army it is still a field rank !? 😂 The British army reinstated the rank as Brigadier prior to joining NATO. They didn't bring back the General appendage to it, but operationally it's still the same Brigadier General they had during WW1. All NATO militaries are organized identically in rank and command. Odunayaw:Ok. Chief, going to let this argument rest now, cos its getting too sentimental on both sides. I already gave you enough reason. You're just unwilling to agree. How can the military be admitting 340 cadets and then promoting 108 to general ranks and you still insist that the structure is normal. I have given you figures from the internet, Commision figures from the NDA, Promotional lists all pointing to the fact that Nigerian army officer structure is less of a pyramid and more of a rectangle. And here looks like an ex-Air Force officer has pointed it out before: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/07/nigeria-has-too-many-army-generals-ex-air-force-spokesman-shehu/ This is someone in the system saying that in 2023 there were 133 Major-generals in the Army. |

CAS MOVES TO REASSURE NATION, DIRECTS FIERCER, SMARTER AIR OPERATIONS TO CRUSH TERRORISTS The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reassured Nigerians of the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unwavering determination to intensify air operations and confront terrorist threats with renewed force and precision. Amid heightened national security concerns, the CAS described the moment as a call for unity and resilience, declaring, “We will go all out against them,” and emphasising that airpower remains “fully engaged, fully committed, and fully determined to dominate the battlespace and neutralise terrorist threats wherever they emerge.” During his operational visit to NAF Base Maiduguri on 17 November 2025, he announced strengthened synergy with ground forces, expanded intelligence-driven missions, and widened precision-strike operations across theatres to deny terrorists any freedom of action. During the visit, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (AOC TAC), Air Vice Marshal Paul Obeya, reiterated the readiness of troops to implement the CAS’ strategic direction, highlighting improved intelligence, tighter coordination with land forces, and enhanced rapid-response strike capability. The Air Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Air Commodore MB Ahmed, also delivered a detailed briefing on tasking, recent strike outcomes, ISR coverage, and ongoing interdiction efforts. Addressing frontline personnel, the CAS commended the “resilience, courage, and professionalism” of the Air Component and the 105 Composite Group, describing them as “a driving force in our fight against insurgency and terrorism.” He reaffirmed the centrality of air operations in degrading terrorist networks and stated, “We must stay on the offensive and keep taking the fight to the enemy from the air. The nation sees your sacrifices… and stands behind you.” Air Marshal Aneke emphasised that his visit aimed to assess real-time realities, address factors influencing combat effectiveness, and reinforce his welfare-driven philosophy of “Welfare for Enhanced Warfare.” He assured personnel of strengthened logistical, medical, and administrative support, as well as continued prioritisation of operational allowances. He further outlined his operational priorities anchored on intelligence-led missions, precision targeting, enhanced jointness, and smarter deployment of airpower, stating, “Under my leadership, the NAF will fly smarter and strike harder.” He also expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his steadfast support to the NAF, reaffirming that “the confidence Mr President has placed in us will be repaid with absolute loyalty, professionalism, and operational excellence.” During his courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, he commended the “Borno Model” and pledged deeper collaboration with state authorities and all stakeholders. Reassuring Nigerians, he declared: “Your Air Force will not falter, will not hesitate, and will not retreat… We will rescue our citizens, honour our fallen heroes, and defend this nation with every asset at our disposal.” The Governor, in his remarks, commended the NAF and other Services for their unwavering commitment to security of lives and properties in the State. #NAFForNigeria #AirPowerDominance #OperationHadinKai #DefendingTheNation #WeWillNotRetreat #ArmedForcesOfNigeria #PresidentialSupport |
