The Rascality of The Omoyele Sowore’s Sahara Reporters exposed Nigerian Brigadier General to the Brutal Death By terrorists. The late Brigadier General M. Uba, until his death was the Gallant Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 25 Task Force Brigade In Damboa, Borno State. He gave out his location at war front via WhatsApp to a Military Command and the message was leaked to Sahara Reporters and it made its way on social media. The terrorists got hold of the information, tracked down the guy and brutally killed him. There are questions to ask: 1) Who within the military command leaked the WhatsApp message to the media? 2) Why did Sahara Reporters release such sensitive message to the public? The act of carelessness, sabotage, and outright irresponsible journalism has cost the nation a Brigadier General. That is a huge loss to the fight against insecurity ravaging the nation. The military command that got the WhatsApp message from the killed Brigadier General must be investigated and the moles in the military that have been working for the terrorists and frustrating the military efforts must be fished out and court marshaled. We have had too many cases of sabotge in the military. The FG should charge Sahara Reporters to court for aiding the terrorists. The media should be responsible and sensitive to the kind of information released to the public. FG must come hard on Sahara Reporters for the role the company played in the killing of the fallen soldier. Sahara Reporters must take full responsibility for the acidic sloppy journalism they drove on that broke disaster in the nation. The menace of the social media must be swiftly addressed. The FG should regulate the social media and it has to be done ASAP. Let those that will bark bark, heaven won’t fall. The rise of the social media is doing more harm than good to our sociopolitical platform. Nigeria’s nationhood structure is being weakened daily on the account of the absolute boundlessness of the social media. If the venom of the social media is not curtailed, it will soon become a monster that will devour the nation.

The rascality of our government and the rascality of our military killed the brigadier general. Ask yourself how on earth can a whole brigadier general be abducted? His government failed him not Sowore |

During the time when this brigadier general was on the run from the ambush scene, and awaiting air evacuation, it makes perfect sense that military authorities would use a diversionary false claim that the officer had been saved, to buy time while the rescue helicopter was inbound to try and pluck him to safety. Regardless of who in the military leaked the communications that indicated the officer was NOT yet safe, and was still on the run from the terrorists, the hasty and reckless disclosure by Sowore 's Sahara Reporters mouthpiece, confirming that the officer was STILL in the death zone, and NOT yet saved by the rescue helicopter, sealed the fate of that officer because the terrorists who monitor all internet news thus received all the confirmation they needed to KEEP SEARCHING for the officer who was then subsequently captured and murdered in cold blood while cameras rolled. Once again Mr. Over-Sabi Sowore, Nigeria's career noise maker and attention seeker, selfishly injected himself into the logistics of an ongoing military operation for cheap publicity purposes, and in so doing DIRECTLY exposed the Nigerian army officer to the terrorists that killed him in brutal fashion live on camera. The blood of Brigadier General Uba is all over the hands of Sowore, Nigeria's perennial publicity junkie, who simply doesn't know when to shut up, and who hasn't a care in the world who he endangers, and who DIES, provided that he can enjoy his 15 minutes of fame. |

Someone leaked the story to Sahara reporters. What was that person expecting? Let's apportion blames appropriately |

Leonardobiageli:This is a complete no.sense. You can't just write that those who gave out the information from the military command be only court marshalled ,only court marshalled!!!! But you went hard on Sahara reporters and the media.... There's no sense in it altogether. If you want to solve a problem then let it be from the very root cause. Don't findwho to blame. The free advice as to solving the issue of insurgency and their sponsors as given by Pa Adeboye is still there, let the FG and various States government do the needful. |

Sowore does not believe any information is sensitive. He's only interested in sensational headlines and clicks. |

Leave Sowore out of this. Was Sowore the one that forced the Nigerian army to put out a statement and lie that the brigadier general and his men had returned? Sowore's initial report was that a formation of Nigerian army troops and their CO had been ambushed with 4 casualties. Nigerian army then put out a statement acknowledging the attack but also went on to say its officers were able to repel the attack and return. FOUR DAYS later, news spread that ISWAP had held a brigadier hostage. Apparently, he was the CO of the unit earlier attacked. For four days Nigerian army could not embark on patrol to locate its officer. Rather, it choose lies and propaganda. As if that was not enough, this brigadier general was able to place a distress call to the army informing them of his location. That intel got leaked to ISWAP and ISWAP got to him. I am confident the army leaked that intel because if they had search and rescue patrols combing the general area, ISWAP would not have gotten to that officer first. An officer is missing for days and the army couldn't be bothered to look for their own! What not evidence do we need before we accept that the fight against terror has been deeply compromised? |

Lifestone:But the army that denied that any of its officers was missing bears no responsibility here? Imagine you were that officer fighting for your life and the safety of your men. Instead of the army you have dedicated your life to, sending search and rescue teams to look for you, they put out a press statement full of lies that you weren't missing and then they went to sleep. How would you have felt? How do you think that officer felt in his final moments when he knows that the information he gave out regarding his location was leaked and that's how ISWAP could get him. How do you think he felt seeing that kind of betrayal? Sowore didn't fail him. The military did. |

My own opinion is that instead of seeing Sahara Reporters as an enemy, the Nigerian Army should be smart and use them. They should have contacted Sahara Reporters, made them sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), and used them to spread misinformation. They could have fed the public false news to make the bandits confused, while secretly planning the real rescue operation in the background. This way, Sahara Reporters would have accidentally helped save the army's image and the officer. Finally, Sahara Reporters needs a trusted and verified contact inside the military. This contact would help them confirm if a news report is based on active, current intelligence. This way, before publishing, they can use their own initiative to ask If this is true, what does it mean for the operation and for national security? Dogalmighty17: |

Dogalmighty17:The Nigerian army's statement that the officer had been saved was a deliberate deception to buy time while the search and rescue operation was still under way, and the purpose of that false report from the army was to BUY TIME and to encourage the terrorists to stop their own search for survivors of the ambush. If you cannot understand that strategy, that is NOT anyone's problem but yours, sir. |

ARE YOU SAYING SOWORE HACKED THE WHATSAPP OF MILITARY HIGH COMMAND TO ACCESS THE CHAT BETWEEN THE BRIGADIER AND THE MILITARY? ..... I EXPECT YOU TO DIRECT YOUR ANGER AT THE BOKO HARAM INFESTED MILITARY.. THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION SHOULD BE ... WHO WAS THE BRIGADIER CHATTING WITH... THATS THE MOLE If you watched the video of the attack on the military base of the Brigadier, You would know that the terrorists had superior INTEL... The soldiers were taken unawares in broad day light because they were either laid back or compromised... They were not alert!!! |

This is a pure case of giving a dog a bad name just to hang it. Blaming the media here is out of place. Who gave the media the Intel? Who also told you the terrorists can't hack Whatsapp chats? |

Few years ago, a friend of mine in the army was traveling to borno from Lagos in company of other soldiers to deliver amunitions. A truck load. When they got to kafanchan, they parked to eat at a local restaurant. They had their rifles on their laps As they were eating, suddenly from nowhere, Boko boys appeared and opened up fire on them. Eight of them in number. They were all killed except for one soldier who lived to tell the story. This soldier strongly believed it was sabotage from within. He's still alive today even though he's maimed seriously. |

Call a spade a spade so everyone learns from it in future Sowore messed up on that matter, what did he have to gain publishing that news Would it have endangered the generals life? Yes. Did it endanger the generals life? Yes. Would it have killed sowore if he kept mute till he was found ? No Sowore messed up. National security should not be entertainment. Peoples lives should not be bandied for cheap publicity. Don't we have a law to that effect? If we don't we need one. |

Sooner or later, in the fullness of time, the just deserts brought about by such a selfish and reckless pursuit of infamy at all costs, will manifest. |

Jakumo:Won't it be more pressing to root out the moles in the military that you alleged that released the Brigadier's dire situation? And what if external state actors are behind this leak and not an internal mole as you claim? Use of WhatsApp for communication in the battlefield is highly irresponsible and we all know who owns and controls the WhatsApp servers and have access to them. Also, the terrorists have gotten a boost since Trump made his threat of invasion. And we also saw how Trump just received an ISIS jihadist in the WH. Even if the location was leaked via WhatsApp and then sent to Sowore to publish, I didn't see where sowore provided the exact GPS location of the Brigadier. So for the terrorists to act swiftly they must have had precise geoloction which only can be provided by those who can track the brigadier's location using his phone. Also, drones must have been used to locate the Brigadier's exact location and guide the terrorists to him. These are not what ISIS has the capability of doing unless guided by a state actor . And so for this, I will put the blame on the US who have a drone base in Niger and have scaled up activities in Nigeria since Trump's threat. Also,Sowore gets funding from the US PBS,USAID and Ford Foundation and so I see the leak coming directly from the US . Claiming there is a mole within our military will only cause more suspicion and low morale. So be advised accordingly for you are also storing up the social media space by alleging a mole within the military leaked the information to Sowore and paraventure the terrorists. |

Jakumo:You are talking nonsense. The terrorist has their strong mole inside the military system backed by strong funding. They don't need sowore to give them any soldier's location. It's not today they've being ambushing soldiers. If the government is serious, NG army still has superior fire power against all terrorists. They are not just willing to exterminate them all due to reasons best known to them. |

DomPerignon:I agree with virtually all the points you have made here. The "repentant" terrorists within the rank and file of the Nigerian army obviously retained their loyalty to their terrorist kingpins, and thus continue to feed vital information about the Nigerian military to the enemy. This is a major problem that was created when mass murdering sadists were FORGIVEN and re-armed as Nigerian soldiers. The existence of terrorist informants within the Nigerian military notwithstanding, NO civilian has the right to become ANOTHER informant to terrorists by publishing operational secrets online during active military operations, and one can only hope that the Nigerian military recognizes publicity-addict Sowore as their mortal enemy who is an open and avowed informant for Islamist terror gangs who are at this very moment in the process of ripping Nigeria apart at the seams. Sowore has degenerated from being a mildly entertaining buffoon to now constituting himself as a clear and present danger to the Nigerian military, and by logical extrapolation, to the very existence of the Nigerian nation. This man needs to be stopped by any means fair or foul. |
