One Of 25 Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls Escapes From Terrorists' Den, Says Principal

One of 25 schoolgirls abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS) in the Maga community of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State has reportedly escaped from the terrorists’ captivity and reunited with her parents, according to the school’s principal.

The principal confirmed on Tuesday that the student who fled from the captors late Monday reappeared at her family home hours after the terrorist attack, according to The Associated Press (AP).

SaharaReporters had reported that no fewer than 25 students were abducted from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, early Monday morning, according to confirmation by the Kebbi State Police Command.

The attack, carried out by heavily armed bandits, left one staff member dead and another injured.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi.

The incident reportedly occurred around 4am when the assailants stormed the school and engaged police officers on duty in a fierce gun battle.

Despite the officers’ efforts, the attackers scaled the school’s perimeter fence and forcibly removed the students from their hostel.

The police spokesperson confirmed that one Hassan Makuku lost his life during the attack, while Ali Shehu sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand.

Confirming the return of the escaped student, the principal, Musa Rabi Magaji, told the AP that another student, who was not among the 25 students officially confirmed abducted, also escaped in the immediate aftermath of the abduction.

One is part of the 25 abducted, and the other one returned earlier,” the AP quoted Magaji as saying. “They are safe and sound.”

SaharaReporters had also reported that following the attack, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, visited the school and directed troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA to scale up search and rescue operations to rescue the abducted students.

Shaibu, in a statement issued by the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, ordered commanders to launch “intelligence-driven operations and relentless day-and-night pursuit of the abductors.”

He said, “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional.”

Security agencies have since expanded their operational footprint across the forests and remote communities surrounding the school as they work to track down the kidnappers and free the remaining students.

While no particular terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, SaharaReporters earlier reported that the wife of the vice-principal, who was killed during the attack, said that the attackers were mostly young men in military camouflage speaking the Fulani language.

Security analysts, Nigerians, and the international community have strongly condemned the attack and the escalating insecurity in Nigeria.

Mass kidnappings from schools have become increasingly common in northern Nigeria over the past decade.

While criminal gangs were once the primary perpetrators, jihadi fighters have also expanded their presence in the region, further complicating the security landscape.

25 school girls kidnapped, a Brigadier General killed, yet the President has not addressed the nation. The silence alone speaks volumes.

Watch this (old) video and look closely at how a senior military officer, someone who has buried countless soldiers was reduced to begging terrorists to repent, even going as far as telling them they could become president if the lay down their arms. Meaning he's indirectly saying that they won't be tried in court, to pay for the atrocities they committed once they repent.

That clip isn't just embarrassing, it reveals the depth of the rot within the system.

When you observe how these terrorists continue to advance, kill, and terrorize innocent citizens with little to no resistance, it becomes painfully clear that something is fundamentally wrong. Our military seems compromised, unprepared, or completely unwilling to confront this menace head-on.

At this point, anyone still pretending everything is under control is simply deceiving themselves. The signs are in front of us.

Something really deep and sinister is going on in this country.

Nigeria is officially a failed state.
The only reason why we have not realized it yet is because Nigeria was never a state of one nation (nation state).

Nigeria has never been a country in which the people ever depended on the state structure: government for leadership, military for security, court for justice, etc. Those are just dummy structures that have never been functional, but Nigerians never cared.

Nigerians have always fed themselves by working hard, protected themselves by self-defense, and obtained justice by way of the j u n g l e. That is why we never for once stopped to ask ourselves one question: is Nigeria really a state? The only reason why that question has come afore is simply because independent observers (Trump, America, and the international community) have stood to objectively speak and say, "Hey guys, things are not going well in Nigeria."

Independently, if only you step out of the "Nigerian" mind, and consider the nation properly, you will observe that the country is worse than Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, etc. That is why even with the whole severe c r i s i s going on in these countries, Nigeria is talked about the most. Its not strange. It is actually because we are w o r s e than they are. We just don't know yet.

Time to do something about Fulani. Seriously. One group can’t hold Nigeria hostage and keep quiet.

What a messy country. So so sad

I made a comment on this platform in the run-up to the 2015 elections. That if we allow the obviously sponsored insecurity during the GEJ administration be used as a yatdstick to measure the admin and consequently oust him, It will become a tool in the hands Nigerian politicians to get to power. Now it has grown so much that we are all now bearing the brunt, the masses and the politcal class alike.

If Tinubu doesn't push his 2027 ambition apart and tackle this insecurity head-on, there might be no country by them.

I was one of those against seeking outside help initially, but with the Nigerian military vividly infiltrated, it is now or never.

The boldness of these monsterous sponsors and terrorists is getting scary.

This is pathetic for a country like Nigeria.

Unless you tell me that our government is responsible for the kidnappings and terrorist attacks for political purpose to make sense.

Because, a 5 year old child will not understand how terrorist can not be tracked down and brought to justice all these years. What are these people being paid for. What are people losing their lives for

It’s crazy man

Now under his watch, abduction is going on..
