Uchechi Kanu, Wife of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has a made a video this evening where she talked about her husband's conviction. She asked Igbos to calm down over the verdict, and that it will be appealed. She also made it known that justice Omotosho only read out a script in court that was handed to him. She said that Omotosho could barely read his own judgment, and that the judge clearly showed how biased he was by bringing up things that her husband was not even in court for such as attacking former British Ambassador, Catriona Laing and the bombing of the US Embassy. She said that the judge even blamed her husband for things attributed to Simon Ekpa when Simon was of a different group to her husband

She said that the judge did not allow her husband a final address in court as prescribed by law, and that it was clear that he was only in a hurry to convict her husband and throw away the key. She called the Nigerian government a kakistocracy that was bent on mistreating Igbo people

She also said that the judge tagged her husband an international terrorist based on mere words alone, not caring in what context he said them, and could not tell anyone who her husband killed. She cited an example of when the judge said that Kanu ordered that security agents should be attacked, that it was during ENDSARS protest when they were shooting unarmed ENDSARS protesters in Lagos, and her husband told the protesters to attack the security back

She also said that her husband was right not to open a defence without knowing under what law he was being charged. She reiterated that her husband would fight his conviction to its logical conclusion. She used the opportunity to thank all those who have been calling her, stressing that she has not slept in 24 hours due to numerous calls

Whether you love Nnamdi Kanu or you disagree with him, remove emotions first and look at the bigger picture — what happened today goes far beyond one man.

It speaks to how Nigeria works, who gets justice, who gets mercy, and who must be *“taught a lesson.”*

Let’s be honest with ourselves…

When *Boko Haram terrorists* surrender, they *rehabilitate them.*
They give them food, clothing, training, a new life.
Some are even *enrolled into the army.*

When *Fulani bandits* kill villagers, kidnap school children, burn buses…
Government negotiates with them.
They call them *“stakeholders.”*
They *protect their identity.*

But *when an Igbo agitator* talks about *self-determination* not bombing people, not kidnapping, not killing *suddenly the full weight of the entire system comes down like thunder.*

*One law for some people*
*Another law for others.*
*And we all know it*

*Today’s judgment* might be “legal,” but let’s not deceive ourselves *it didn’t feel just*

Because we’ve seen worse crimes forgiven.
We’ve seen *killers granted amnesty.*

From *political exclusion* to *constant military presence…*

The *Southeast has always received the iron hand.*

And today didn’t break that pattern.
It reinforced it.

And let’s be truthful…
*People noticed the optics.*

*A Yoruba judge.*
*A Yoruba prosecutor.*
*An Igbo defendant in a political case.*
*A federal government with long history of tension with the Southeast.*

Even if they were fair, the perception alone destroys trust.
*Justice is not only about judgment it is about transparency and balance.*

Once people begin to feel that a system is already against them, every ruling becomes suspect.

*But here is the real truth we don’t want to admit:*

This was never about *Nnamdi Kanu alone.*
*It was about sending a message.*

A message to an entire region:
*“Do not question Nigeria’s structure.”*
*“Do not talk about self-determination.”*

*“Do not demand equality or restructuring.”*

*“Know your place.”*

That’s what many people heard today.

*Not a court decision.*
*But a warning.*

The irony is that *Nigeria keeps saying it wants unity.*
But unity cannot grow where there is *selective justice.*
Unity cannot survive *double standards.*

What happened today will not silence anyone.
It will only make more people ask deeper questions about justice, equality, and the future of this country.

Because *Kanu may be one man*
but the *issues he raised belong to millions.*

Read that again.

For decades, the *forefathers of other tribes planted one poisonous seed:*

*“Don’t trust an Igbo man… an Igbo man will sell Nigeria.”*

But look around today

*Who owns the oil wells?*
*Who controls the military hierarchy?*
*Who dominates the political circle?*
*Who decides the allocation of national wealth?*

It is not the Igbo man.

The same people who warned the nation to *“fear the Igbo”* are the ones *harvesting Nigeria’s resources* like a private estate, keeping millions in poverty while *preaching unity on national TV.*

Meanwhile, the Igbo man the one they claimed would *“sell the country”* is the one *building businesses,* *industries, markets, and jobs from nothing.*

*The one who rises without federal power,*

*survives without government support,* and *thrives without national appointments.*


Here is the tragedy:

The biggest “mistake” an Igbo man made was not *Biafra…*
was not *politics…*
was not *commerce…*

It was simply *being born in Nigeria* a country where the system is already beating him *1–0* before the *match even starts.*

In *65 years of independence,* the *Igbo have ruled Nigeria for barely six months*

yet they *carry the weight of suspicion* as if they ruled for sixty years.

They are policed the hardest.
*Judged the fastest.*
*Suspected the quickest.*
*Punished the easiest.*

Because the truth is bitter:

*Nigeria does not fear the Igbo man because he is a threat*

Nigeria fears him because he *succeeds without permission.*

And any *system that cannot control you…*
will always try to silence you.
