How To Get Affidavit Online In Nigeria Using The Federal High Court E-affidavit by PriestBeMyName(op): 7:05am On Jun 10, 2025
Obtaining an affidavit in Nigeria no longer requires physically visiting a court or relying on third-party agents. Whether you're applying for a change of name, correction of date of birth, declaration of age, or a case-related affidavit, you can now do it entirely online via the Federal High Court’s e-Affidavit platform: http://portal.fhc.gov.ng

This official platform enables you to draft, submit, and receive court-approved affidavits in minutes, all from your device.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Federal High Court e-Affidavit Portal
1. Visit the Portal
Go to http://portal.fhc.gov.ng, the official e-Affidavit website of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

2. Sign Up or Log In
Create an account with your email and phone number. If you already have one, log in directly.

3. Choose the Type of Affidavit
You’ll see a list of predefined affidavit types, including:

Change of Name
Correction of Name
Correction of Date of Birth
Declaration of Age
Affidavit of Facts
Loss of Document
Attestation
Court-related Affidavits

If you do not find the exact affidavit type you're looking for, select the “General Form Template.”

About the General Form Template
The General Form Template gives you flexibility to create a custom affidavit. You can:

Enter your own affidavit title
Fill in the clauses or statements of fact in your own words
Upload the necessary supporting documents

This is ideal for unique or less common affidavit needs.

4. Fill in the Details Accurately
Provide accurate personal data and NIN (National Identification Number). Carefully draft your statement of facts. Any false information can lead to rejection or legal consequences.

5. Upload Supporting Documents
Depending on the affidavit type, you may be required to upload:

A valid ID (e.g. NIN, international passport, driver’s license)
Proof of the change (e.g. old and new documents, sworn statements)
Birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.

6. Make Payment
Pay the applicable fee using the secure payment system. Fees are standardised. You’ll receive a digital receipt immediately after payment.

7. Wait for Commissioner Review
Once submitted, your affidavit goes to the Commissioner for Oaths for review and approval. This usually takes just a few minutes.

If everything is in order, your affidavit will be signed and digitally stamped. You can then download and print it, fully valid and court-recognised.

What If Your Affidavit Is Queried?
Your affidavit might be queried if there are issues, such as:

Unclear or missing signature
Incorrect or mismatched NIN details
Missing or invalid supporting documents
Poorly written or ambiguous statement of facts

In such cases, you’ll receive a notification. Simply log back into the portal, correct the errors, and resubmit for another review.

Final Tips
Always check your data before submitting.
Use the "General Form" if your affidavit type is not listed.
Save your login credentials securely.
Check your email or portal dashboard for updates on your affidavit status.

With the e-Affidavit platform, Nigeria’s judiciary is making legal documentation faster, safer, and more transparent.

The payment is completed online for only N1,500.00; however, with the payment gateway fee, the total amount you will pay is approximately N1,695.00.
