I am asking because our man Crying Kanu was using donated money to enjoy Dom Perignon champagne, lobster and imported isi ewu stew in London in his past life. To an extent, Kanu holds the key to his own eventual freedom from prison. Till date, the general news-consuming public has only seen the angry, short-fused, and confrontational side of Kanu, but public opinion could soften towards him over time, IF, he could take it upon himself to show genuine remorse over his key role in stirring up events that consumed innocent Igbo lives under violent circumstances, all due to his open encouragement of deadly violence that has been his hallmark and calling card from the start.

In addition to expressing his regretful apologies to the families of those killed by his rampaging henchmen, Kanu could garner empathy from the legal system in gradual increment over time IF he can begin to demonstrate a true respect for the legal process, and for those learned men and women whose litigative profession it is to uphold the rule of law in court.

The personal insults Kanu aimed at the judge who was about to define his destiny made it impossible for the judge to find compassion for the accused who stood raging hysterically before him. The legal practitioners that Kanu punched, berated and pushed right there in court and on camera, were all aware of the damage Kanu was doing to his own cause, and to his case in court. His own legal team found themselves reduced to the role of saddened spectators witnessing the self-destruction of their own hitherto client. Before the law, he who orders the trigger pulled from afar, is just as guilty of murder as he who pulled the trigger, and that is why the federal prosecutor sought death by hanging for Kanu.

None of those reckless outbursts that Nnamdi Kanu acted out in court before a bemused global audience on November 20, 2025, will ever be forgotten, so now, the only recourse capable of rehabilitating Kanu's tattered reputation is to display, at every possible opportunity going forward, sincere HUMILITY, remorse, and a resolute willingness to FORMALLY renounce violence in any form, even if his dream of actualizing a new Igbo nation out of Nigeria remains unchanged.

When a calmer, diplomatic, conciliatory, and more statesmanlike aspect of Kanu's persona eventually coalesces and manifests behind those lonely prison walls, the odds will gradually improve that he may become a viable element in Igbo land's quest for peaceful outcomes that Kanu could articulate using civilized dialog as a freed man who has evolved beyond the fiery rhetoric of his militant past.
