raumdeuter:Why are you not bothered that lives are lost everyday in the North and the Federal Government that can convict others won't convict those causing havoc in that part of the country? Or are you happy the way the North is with the everyday bad news we get from there? |

Segedinho:KANU may deserve death or life imprisonment based on the gravity of the allegations against him. However, when you examine the issue through the lens of how the Nigerian government has handled several Boko Haram cases, it becomes understandable why some people raise concerns about selective justice. The contrast between these situations naturally creates perceptions of bias or one-sidedness, which can be interpreted as injustice. Still, the two scenarios are fundamentally different. Many of the Boko Haram individuals who received pardon were not "genuine" or "willing fighters". A significant number were kidnapped, sometimes with their families, forced into the group, and compelled to chose in participating in violent activities against their will or they get killed with their families. Later, many of them managed to escape or voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. Under established counter-insurgency and humanitarian frameworks, coerced combatants who surrender are treated differently from ideologues or commanders. Rehabilitation and reintegration become strategic tools, not acts of favoritism. This is also why the federal government had very limited options. When coerced Boko Haram members voluntarily surrendered, FG had no choice but to pardon and rehabilitate them. If the government had refused, we Nigerians would have been the first to criticize them, arguing that perhaps the conflict would not have escalated to this level if earlier defectors had been handled with more openness. ( if we take MEND, Tompolo as case study) Moreover, if every repentant fighter were immediately sent to prison, others who genuinely wanted to surrender would never come out to surrender. It is a delicate and strategic situation that requires balancing and like OBJ will say, it is like a stick and carrot approach .When you break it down further, there are two separate comparison sets: KANU and SHEKAU (are classified as principal actors) Both represent leadership-level influence, ideological direction, and the capacity to mobilize violent actions. These are not coerced individuals, they are decision-makers and masterminds. This category is not eligible for pardon under standard security and justice frameworks. REPENTANT BOKO HARAM MEMBERS and UGM members ( they are classified as non-state armed operatives who can surrender) Repentant Boko Haram members who were forced into the group have a legitimate case for pardon. (if their confessions is true ) By the same logic, if members of the so-called Unknown Gunmen (UGM) come out voluntarily to surrender, renounce violence, and are screened to confirm they were coerced or misled, they also have a case for leniency and rehabilitation. The real bias would only appear if UGM members genuinely surrender but the federal government refuses to extend to them the same consideration given to coerced Boko Haram defectors. So, the issue is not simply that one group was pardoned and another was not. The core distinction lies in the nature of who is ready to surrender and who is not. Can UGM surrender? Coerced recruits who surrender, whether from Boko Haram or any other armed group, fit into a category that can be rehabilitated. Principal actors and ideological leaders, whether Shekau or Kanu, fall into an entirely different category where pardon is not applicable. |

raumdeuter:You’re missing the entire point. Calling out selective justice doesn’t erase or contradict Kanu’s conviction in any way. Both things can be true at the same time. The question is why is the Federal Government releasing actual terrorists in the North? Why are people who have massacred entire communities being rehabilitated instead of prosecuted? What exactly is the endgame here? And don’t twist it, this isn’t about choosing sides. I care about the North too. Nigerians live there, my people and yours live there. That’s why it’s even more disturbing. |

I just watched the US Congress Hearing on Genocide in Nigeria. Wow, very educating and interesting. May God continue to bless the US USA is the most generous country on earth and I am glad Benue State and Middle Belt are also getting the necessary attention of the USA. I like how they were dragging the FG throughout the hearing and how irresponsible they are in securing lives and properties of her citizens. I like the Early Warning and Response program the US did in Benue and I pray they continue it. |

States are now shutting down schools indefinitely The problem with this insecurity issue is that there seems to be no plan to solve it. Nothing at all. We should be seeing more of the Defense Ministry and Ministers addressing the country. Nothing at all is being said |

Terrorist sympathizers kariri ebe a o. NK and his boys terrorize(d) my people that I care about in the East and for that he deserves to die in prison. Do you know the number of women that were (and still being) r*ped by these boys? Do you know the number of people (men, women, children) that have been (and still being) killed by NK boys that he armed? If the victims of these NK boys (the few who make it out alive) share their stories you will cry blood. Those boys are ruthless. You pay your ransom or they harvest your organs. You will be there waiting for your own ransom payment watching them harvest other peoples organs who could not pay up and they are telling you to your face that if you don't pay up you are next. Imagine the life long trauma even if you manage to make it out alive. There are whole towns and entire local governments today (Okigwe, Orlu, Orsu, and may more) that are completely inhabitable today because of these boys. They hold sway in these places even as I type. There is zero police or military presence in these places today and it's NK boys that are the government, judge, jury, executioner and ransom collectors in these places. For anyone who doesn't know, this is all ongoing. Everything I have listed here is still happening till TODAY. Nothing concern me and how the North is treating ex boko haram and Sheikh Gumi, If north wants to pamper terrorists that is their business. You can buy bus ticket and relocate to the same street that Sheik Gumi is living and help protect him. As a Nigerian, that is your right. You don't even need to take permission. In ala igbo, terrorists will be shown no mercy and will die in prison or with a bullet in their head. Ndi ara. |

I understand what spy and sege are saying. We all know Nigeria has been biased to East. Of a northern and easterner commit same crime and got caught together, we know the person that will get convicted. Regardless, we should encourage severe punishment to those trying to turn east into Zamfara.. North can love and celebrate their own terrorists but we must condemned ours before we turn to Afghanistan. |

raumdeuter:The reason they are doing this is not "funny". I don't think you know how these IPOB/ESN/MNK boys/Terrorist Sympathizers operate. If you are an igbo public figure and you don't make a post on social media sympathizing with NK, his followers start bullying you on social media. They will insult you, your family, call you a traitor and start threatening your life and that of your family. If you want to see an example go to facebook and look for the post Obi Cubanna made before he sympathized with NK and read the comments. That is just one example. Even if you are just an online influencer that is igbo without an NK sympathy post you wont have peace. These people are bullies. There is one popular igbo influencer I follow and who I know even off social media. He made a post yesterday and the threats and insult followed. He quickly made a video apologizing and saying he had not seen the news and that he NK judgement is not fair. Lie. If you watch the video carefully you will see even in the video he was afraid and made it under duress. I know this guy and he hates NK guts more than anyone but he dares not say it o. Remember, these are not just online noisemakers some of these NK boys are heavily armed and if they mark you off as a traitor it can cost you your life. Late Senator ifeanyi Ubah with his heavy convoy was almost assassinated because NK boys accused him (with no evidence whatsoever) of helping FG track NK. Ifeanyi Ubah denied it vehemently in English, Pidgin and Igbo and they still came after his life. Then imagine a private citizen that is just a social media influence with little or no security. All those igbos coming to sympathize is mostly out of fear of NK boys and not love for NK. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by TemporaryHansel(m): 8:47pm On Nov 21, 2025 |
The Nigerian government created the version of IPOB everyone is shouting about today. They were peaceful from the start, until Buhari’s government decided harassment, raids, intimidation, and military operations were the correct response. Meanwhile, herdsmen were slaughtering farmers and ordinary citizens with no consequences. People were begging for protection, and the government looked the other way. So IPOB adapted to the reality forced on them, as any group backed into a corner eventually does. Operation Python Dance, the harassment of anyone linked to IPOB or even just being Igbo, and the constant intimidation created the monster they now complain about. You can only push people so far before they reach their breaking point. You can’t beat a child and then forbid them from crying. And before anybody tries to twist my words, I’ve never supported Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB. I’m simply stating facts. You people are trying to rewrite a history we all lived through, and I won’t pretend not to see it. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by MonsieurCoder: 8:55pm On Nov 21, 2025 |
TemporaryHansel:Sir, with due respect, if i did not have training, I will have said let thunder fire you!! So Buhari's operation python dance is the reason NK and his boys started using guns to terrorize the same igbos in the East they claim to be fighting freedom for? Are you mad? Why can't they take their guns to the military barracks in the East and engage the Nigerian army to show their anger? Why can't they board buses to aso rock and face Buhari? Buhari and Nigerian army intimidated you and your solution is to start terrorizing your very own people that are victims of the exact same intimidation that claim you are facing. Let us all respect ourselves here abeg. |

TemporaryHansel:I had decided to save my strength on this matter, but your comment has to be the "most gibberish" comment I have seen since yesterday. What reality did Buhari force IPOB to adapt? Go to the front page, and see a thread on Kanu written as at 2015. Meanwhile, Kanu was already running Radio Biafra before Buhari won (Yes, I was listening to Radio Biafra, when I lived at Thinkers Corner in Enugu). You must not have an idea on everything. If you don't know anything about how the killings in the SE started, just sit it out. You're not even seeing anything, talk more of pretending. |
