Berankis:Even as a lady, I can relate with what you said. Op this is the best advice. Like someone also said above, you broke the first code which is minding your business. So as it is now, take this advice and also try to create some boundaries. Creating boundaries here doesn't mean you have to embarrass them in any way, you should avoid any place they hang out. If you spot them first, dodge make them pass, this is to avoid unnecessary greetings and banters. |

NOETHNICITY:You had never face a brutal reality in Nigeria, reason you are talking like this. Who tell you police don't know them or has never arrested them before? Dont be surprise that it is the same police ( my apology to Good ones among them) that will expose your identity to them and even give them tip to deal with you. And let assume you did that anonymously, they won't act on it, except it is highly notorious joint that have been reported before or the boys commited another crime. He made a mistake by starting what he couldn't afford to finish. He behaved like a rich guy to them, reason they keep asking him for money. If he had refuse or give them just #100 at first time, they would've tag him idiot and let him be for good. Now, the only escape route for him is to relocate, otherwise, they will soon invite him to join them because they had seen him as a financial backer. |

Emma513:You don't report cultists or yahoo yahoo boys. You just relocate to somewhere else. I had a neighbour in school who always delay in paying NEPA bills, which affected electricity and water supply. After much complaints, I relocated to a different lodge. The last thing you will want is to join a cult (they're largely hungry and dirty people) and live amongst them when you're not one of them. Find money, even if na borrow, to relocate. |
| Re: Cultists: I Need Advice by johannesburg(m): 1:48pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
If you can't relocate due to reasons best know to you do this. Target the day they will harass you again. Go out with small change like 5k and a small phone you are willing to forfeit. Refuse to give them anything and don't bow to pressure but don't raise voice or threaten. Allow them do their worse including stealing the phone and money after they do so they would want to walk away and change spot to go have fun over that change then walk away quietly. Get military men to drive with you another day they are gathered but agree not to stop by them just pass with some serious looks to their direction and make sure they see. Leave the matter like that, e go remain so till you marry born and old self they won't cough again. Those animals are insecure. |

Emma513:Based on experience, as a PH Boy. DO NOT give "find" cultists "something". If you already do, STOP. STOP smiling at them. Just mijd your business, and they'll stop disturbing you. Every "find me something" should be met with "nothing come out" — Nothing dey (as you keep moving). |

BigCowHornn:CHATGPT I get why you’re thinking this way — when someone feels threatened or uncomfortable in a new area, the mind goes straight to protection, signaling strength, and avoiding trouble. But let’s break this down calmly and safely. --- ✅ First: Be VERY careful with the idea of “bringing soldiers to chill” Not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because: Soldiers are not bodyguards. If someone in the area is truly a cultist, trying to signal affiliation with military people can backfire — it can create curiosity, tension, or even make them feel you’re trying to “test” them. It may give you temporary perceived safety but not long-term stability. It’s not the safest or smartest long-term strategy. --- 👍 A safer, realistic way to avoid trouble in your area Keep interactions neutral ... If someone is trying to size you up or intimidate you: – Stay calm – Don’t argue – Don’t show fear – Don’t show aggression Just neutral respect. 4. Keep your movements smart Avoid walking late at night, especially alone or through isolated paths. “Inviting soldiers to show you’re not small” This can work situationally, but only if: It happens naturally (e.g., they’re your genuine friends). You’re not using them to intimidate anyone. It doesn’t become a regular pattern. If the cult guys think you’re “forming power,” it can actually increase attention. If soldiers are genuinely your friends and they come around casually once in a while, that’s fine — but it shouldn’t be a tactics. --- ⭐ My honest advice Your best protection is blending in, keeping a low profile, building community rapport, and not giving anyone the sense that you’re competing or proving anything. |

If you are a street boy u can handle them more reason we guys should learn the street OT without being a cult member. Anytime u have give, if they ask and anytime they ask and u don't have let them know men dem e no dey body go ur way. This guys can come good some day when u won't expect. Pls don't report them just learn how to handle them without fear. If u report they will know and u will be targeted they will send another group. And if u relocate too is the same thing, they are everywhere. My little cent |

OOOKEWALE:Core northern states like Kano, Sokoto, Yobe, Borno, Jigawa, Kebbi, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa. The states you mentioned are mostly classified as middle belt though they are geopolitically tagged north. The indigenous population of those states are the minority tribes of the north & they have majority christian populations as is the case in Benue state & FCT, while states like Kaduna (southern part) & Kogi have reasonable amount of christians though they may not be majority. That's why cultism fester in such places, because some of the indigenes are in league with cultists from the south who propagate it. A state like Taraba is an exception, even though majority of the population are christians & the state is made up of minority Nigerian tribes, yet cultism doesn't survive there because the indigenes have an anathema for such. The summary is that cultism is a southern Nigerian problem. Even the few incidents of cultism in some middle belt states are mostly propagated by southerners residing in the north & some very few northern accomplices (very rare). Only Benue state in the north (middle belt) have large chunk of indigenes actively participating in cult activities. Same with prostitution |

| Re: Cultists: I Need Advice by Uptheante(m): 2:55pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
sparko1:Except in the core north. Pple in Kano, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Jigawa, etc have no idea what cultism is all about. Same with middle belt states like Adamawa & Taraba. Only exceptions are Benue & Kogi states that have active indigenous participation. Bring your southern cultism to Kano or Sokoto, them go beat you up & pound you like fufu, that's if you can even survive it. Try to obtain money from aboki in Sokoto or Katsina in the name of cultism, them go pound you up. Cultism, prostitution & internet fraud are majorly southern issues propagated by mostly southerners. Cultism is a brainchild of southerners, that's why it festers & breeds in the south. That's the bitter truth |

Uptheante:ISWAP, Boko Haram, and all these bandits are cultists. They are just religious, but their intentions are devilish. Once you join them, you cannot leave. There are prostitutes in Sokwato, Katsina, Maiduguri. In fact, Hausa Fulanis are also into discrete prostitution. It is wrong of you to classify a region as responsible for all the nonsense happening in Nigeria. For those of us who have travelled widely know these things. All your fake piousity is evident to those who have spent time among you. The highest abuse of alcohol and other substances is in the Northern States among your women. |

Uptheante:The thief at home is the ones that will invite the thief from outside. They are like securities if u pay ur dues u are safe from external intruders. How much is he giving them, highest #1k Is enough . Speaking from experience, born and breed in the ghetto. Now what i learn is helping me now. U can even make how far how far friends with them but dont too get close to them. |

Kaykay999:That's not always the case, I had a similar experience when I was in PH, then I was still a little boy, although his dad build the house we were living then, he was no more at that time. This dude threaten the hell out of me despite been a small boy. |
| Re: Cultists: I Need Advice by Uptheante(m): 3:07pm On Nov 22, 2025 |
OOOKEWALE:Terrorism is not same as cultism. Boko Haram & herdsmen are carrying out terrorists activities. They are not in the same league as the cultists in the south, they are even worse. I'm talking about cultism in the sense of intimidating pple on the street, seizing phones, obtaining money from pple, wearing specific colors, cult clashes, etc. Those are strictly southern issues propagated by southerners except Benue & parts of Kogi states in the north. As for prostitution, at least 80% is done by southern women. In the north, it's only Benue state have a sizeable amount of prostitutes. Even in the north, there are plenty southern women doing prostitution, especially in Kano, Kaduna & Abuja |

If you are living in a school environment, this may be a difficult situation to handle but if not, you can engage a lawyer who will write an anonymous letter on your behalf through his chamber. The petition will address a potential public breach of security in the area. The landlord of the particular property would be mentioned as the prime suspect and would be forced to evict the hoodlums before they become a total menace to the area. Your safety is very important. |

mozona:That means you are enabling cultism, if you have to give them 1k so that they won't intimidate you. That's an act of cowardice & a show of weakness |

Uptheante:Chief, Go to Hotels in Sokwato, even government run hotels. The Nothern prostitutes only dress decently and are secretive. They are very careful of how they present themselves to you. The foundation of all these your groups is cultism. “Cultism” can mean different things depending on context, but generally it refers to the practice of being part of a cult, which is a group that often: Has rigid beliefs or a charismatic leader. Exerts high control over members’ behavior. Encourages secrecy and isolation from outsiders. Can involve rituals, initiation, or even illegal activities. In Nigeria, the term “cultism” is often associated with secret societies in schools and universities. These groups, sometimes called “campus cults,” often: Have names like “,” “Eiye,” or “Aiye.” Recruit students and demand loyalty through oaths. Are linked to violence, crime, and intimidation on campuses. Can create peer pressure and social fear among students. It’s illegal in many countries, including Nigeria, because cults in schools and universities threaten safety and disrupt education. |

Kaykay999:He cannot set strong boundaries at this stage. They know who he is. Trying to assert his authority by setting boundaries will lead to problems. Just leave the area and relocate elsewhere. |

yemmit90:Here’s a refined, clearer version while keeping your tone and message intact: You people can be funny sometimes. Many years ago, my best friend and I applied for a federal government job. When it was time for the screening, interviews, and tests, he refused to go because he believed it was impossible to get an FG job without connections. I did everything I could to convince him to at least make an effort before drawing conclusions. He even promised to show up—but he never did. Ironically, he had a better chance than I did, with his BSc and his brilliance. Lo and behold, I got the job, and he has remained jobless to this day. So please, stop discouraging people from trying things that could lead to positive outcomes. Let him write an anonymous letter describing the location and the people involved. If you’d like it more formal, more persuasive, or more concise, I can adjust it! |
