Good evening guys, I would like to know about booking for an appointment at VFS for my mom. She would be visiting me for the 4th time, but I'm struggling to get the appointment done online.

Please advise.

Thanks a lot

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by ayodejiadetoro(m):
I visited the VFS center in Abuja for my South Africa visitor’s visa appointment, which I am applying for in order to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship, and I encountered two issues:

1)Upon reviewing my yellow card, I was asked to obtain a yellow card certificate from the Ministry of Health because they were unable to verify it online due to the yellow fever website being down.

2) I was told that I had booked my appointment too early. They stated that appointments should be made no more than three months before the intended travel date, whereas I had scheduled mine 3 month and two weeks. So, I was 2weeks early.

These requirements were new to me and my friends, despite having gone through the process before. None of this information is available on the VFS website. I traveled over 500 km to Abuja and paid over ₦29,000 to book this appointment

Has anyone heard or experienced this before?

For that certificate, I think they are making money for some persons because the agents downstairs would do a quick printout of our useless acknowledgement letter from a ministry, I think this guys just do these things in Tandem.

You should apply 3 months before, not before, that's correct,

500Km, Na Yobe, you dey come?

Hi guys, I trust you are good.

So, I have someone going to VFS to submit his application on Monday. However, the person needs to travel soon, and might not be able to submit his passport. What would be your advice?

Thank you so much
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 6:21pm On Nov 22, 2025
The passport won't be submitted in the first place. They can apply and travel, as long as they will return at the embassy's request.

So, what can that person say at the VFS OFFICE on Monday? I really thought they hold on to your passport until decisions are made. Just to be clear, the person is travelling to another country.

Don't say anything, submit the whole application, and your passport will be given back to you. The embassy ( VFS) will call, and you will bring it back to them

My experience is quite different. I went to VFS application center in Lagos to submit my application to obtain a South African visa in June, with the intent to travel in January. They collected my documents and didn't tell me I booked early.
But it's been over 5 months that I submitted application but I've not heard from them till now. I don't know why it's taking this long.

Hello guys, Please i have two questions to ask.

1. Please whats the processing time for SA Visiting Visa application for frequent traveler.

2. After documents submission, will they keep my original passport till a decision is made?

Kindly help with these two questions.

Thank you in advance.

One love
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 2:21pm On Nov 24, 2025
1. SA almost has no set processing time, just apply 3 months before your travel date and expect a good time for them to process it

2. VFS won't be holding onto you passport , it will be returned to you after you application is submitted at VFS.

Hello, guys! Please, has anyone ever gone for a visa interview in Cape Town? What is the approval rate? I am a postgraduate student studying in South Africa. I applied for an F1 visa to the US, and my visa interview is for the 10th of December in Cape Town. Your response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your assistance. Please I have another question. What's the difference between the VFS evisa and DHA evisa? Which is cheaper and has a shorter processing time?

Thanks again for your assistance.
Good evening bro, please do you have any active SA high commission emails I can send emails to?

You may be right o, because the vfs officer tried to discribe where I can get it done without me asking.

The guy said less than 3 months before I can apply . I found that very strange

Lol. Maybe the 500km na small exaggeration. E fit no reach. Na Bida, Niger State

There's nothing I can do about it. I tracked it, application is still under process.
I called and was told the delay is because I applied too early. It shouldn't be more than 3 months before the date

Hi guys,
I'm trying to apply for a study visa for a postgraduate program
Would I need hotel booking? If yes, what's the best way to go about this?

Hello guys,
I will appreciate if someone can kindly explain the sticker visa application process.
I'm seeing a link to download form on VFS site. Is it actually a paper form one will download and fill? Or this is an old process?
How will one schedule an appointment please? Also, do you have any idea of how early can one secure an appointment?
Is a physical portrait photo required? If yes, how many please? If you also have information on the fees to pay at VFS, kindly share. As one needs all the info one can get before going to those guys, who are notorious with extortionist practices.

I was once issued a 1-year SA visa like 3 years ago, I gave an agent to sort out then. I want to apply by myself this time around, is there anything I need to do to secure this 1-year visa again?
