Even though her action is commendable, we need to let go of such mentality as it doesn't work in saner climes and better organisation in Nigeria.

I find it hard to see why an employer will be expecting me to show appreciation for receiving a salary I toiled for.

Was the employer thanking me while I was doing the job.

If you had been jobless for years and you luckily land a job, especially when all hopes seems to be lost, only then you'll understand why this employee has chosen to appreciate his employer...

I dislike offering verbal appreciation; I’d rather communicate through my work ethic. Compliments often get to people's heads, and they start believing they are doing you a favor. I prefer to let my results speak for me. If the employer is treating me well, he will see the gratitude in my productivity. However, if he starts misbehaving, he will notice the shift in my actions immediately.

Leave saner clim oga woke.. our culture is different with the said saner clim. Go China and see their culture too ajd how they treat their workers. Low-self esteem marafaka

So I was having this discussion with some old time friends. For some weird reason, we ended up discussing office work, something became prominent. Success at work place is not solely depended on personal abilities.

Most times, it's dependent on doing your home work and teamwork.

During office politics, you realise that who you know is more important than what you know.

How to relate with others and kick it with them determines your progress.

Your ability to communicate extensively is sure to guarantee you open doors.

I have seen guys with limited skills progress in life and talented guys botch things up

Na lie ,some people take such staff for granted aswear

Thanking your boss for paying you for services you rendered seems awkward to me.

Your salary is not a gift. It’s not charity. It’s not a personal favour. You showed up for 30 days, dealing with stress, deadlines, pressure, sickness, unexpected tasks...etc, and all the wahala that comes with the job. Yet you still gave your best to keep the company moving. That is value. And value deserves compensation.

Sadly, a lot of Nigerians have been conditioned to see basic their rights as privileges. So instead of standing confidently on the fact that you earned your pay, they act like the boss did them a special favour by releasing the salary they already worked for.

Yes, you can be respectful, professional, and appreciative of good working conditions, but collecting your salary is not something you should feel indebted for. You’re not being blessed, you’re being paid what you deserve.

It’s time people started valuing their effort and understanding that compensation is a Right, not a privilege.

I’ll always be grateful to all my Ex Bosses ,
You always learn one thing or two from them that will help you in your life journey, from one i learnt extreme discipline and focus, from one I learnt technical abilities and the uses of scientific observation in real life, the pay is nothing but the relationship you had and love shown to one another is what matters because at the end of the day we are all humans

Typically, employers should thank employee for a job well done. my boss always thank me and at first I used to get confused because I m just doing my job. now Im used to it.

I once had an old elderly indian boss. He would tell me something that sometimes it is those of his staffs who dont even greet and always want to get his attention that are really doing the job and giving there best. He told me those are the people he was much concerned about. I began to see things differently after.

Verbal appreciation is not a bad thing but I would rather focus on giving my best on the Job I am assigned to and make sure, my position is recognized for excellence.

I would prefer if she puts my work on social media to say she has one of the best staff than my response to a salary i have earned.

A hundred staff can show gratitude but not all can show excellence.

Hopefully, the said employee is both professional and excellent

I used to do this at my previous employment. My ex-boss must’ve been puzzled months on end and even shared laughs with his friends.

When you move to a bigger organization, you’ll realize there’s no single person you can thank.

I would be bored if my staff does this. I have just one, a housekeeper, and I don't want her to ask how I am . Do your job well and we are good. Don't act like I saved you from the apocalypse, even if you think I did.
