He/She provided service, didn't He/She? Maybe they're not working there on merit or is a sort of futuristic eye service in anticipation of the time of workers ' curling so they're sort of protected from sack angry angry angry

Nice one! However, one doesn't really need to show gratitude for salary paid for a job well done. If it's done it is good, but it may have a negetive effect on your employer. Some employers will feel like they are doing you a favour by paying you a salary you worked and gave your time and part of your life for. I'm an employer of labour today and i really appreciate it when my staff show appreciation but i don't get cocky to be all high and mighty

Even though her action is commendable, we need to let go of such mentality as it doesn't work in saner climes and better organisation in Nigeria.

I find it hard to see why an employer will be expecting me to show appreciation for receiving a salary I toiled for.

Was the employer thanking me while I was doing the job.
Dey there dey speak grammar.

You don't know what gratitude can cause. I can cite examples.

Again, this is not an "organization" as you think. It's probably a small scale business where everyone in the business know one another personally.

To find thankful people nowadays is a rare gift and can open doors for the person.

Absolutely unnecessary!
Salaries are seamlessly automated and with a fixed pay day (even if it is weekend or public holidays); And certainly not by a madam.

What kind of a company is that? And what happens if a glitch in the system delays his salary, who does he approach?; madam or Accounts?

Irritating misdemeanours typical of a disgraced country.

. You won't understand....

If you had been jobless for years and you luckily land a job, especially when all hopes seems to be lost, only then you'll understand why this employee has chosen to appreciate his employer...
You guys are saying the same thing. That is why he said 'saner climes' where people getting employed is no big deal.

Employment is contract. You agree to do spelt out tasks for a fee.

No one doing anyone favours.

I don't just think it's the salary.

The salary might be generous (above the going rate), and she might treat her employees very well.

The message sounds genuine and not forced.

However. If it's stems from abuse or intimidation, that's a different matter.

I totally get your thought.

However this is about an individual’s wiring or mindset.

I’m sure with your mindset, you would also have an issue in saying Thabk you tö those who are in your employ or offer you service— like artisans, drivers, cleaners, etc.

Saying Thabk you doesn’t make you less nor does it mean the person is your source, it simply tells more about the state of your heart— one filled with gratitude and not taking anything for granted.

I thank drivers, artisans, vendors who work for me even after paying them. It is me placing value on their services and letting them know they are appreciated.

I worked with a woman some years ago whom I always thanked after she sends me a very meager sum. That little act I believe was why she didn’t find my replacement even though I wasn’t indispensable.

I am wired tö thabk people for everything— little or big. If they get prideful over it, it reveals their state of heart to them, and it is hardly my issue.

My own role is to spread positivity with every opportunity I am given.

There are lots of competent people who can take up any job I am offering, rhat the employer gave me a chance, is him/her choosing to patronize me above others and that deserves my Thabk you.

As I Thabk God for helping me stay engaged and not being jobless, I also remember the channel He chose to bless me through. Again, it doesn’t make me less, it simply shows me the state of my heart.

And I am fine with it.

Everyone should stay with what works for them. There are no rules tö this.

We dauthor=Nazgul post=137568213]Thanking your boss for paying you for services you rendered seems awkward to me.

Your salary is not a gift. It’s not charity. It’s not a personal favour. You showed up for 30 days, dealing with stress, deadlines, pressure, sickness, unexpected tasks...etc, and all the wahala that comes with the job. Yet you still gave your best to keep the company moving. That is value. And value deserves compensation.

Sadly, a lot of Nigerians have been conditioned to see basic their rights as privileges. So instead of standing confidently on the fact that you earned your pay, they act like the boss did them a special favour by releasing the salary they already worked for.

Yes, you can be respectful, professional, and appreciative of good working conditions, but collecting your salary is not something you should feel indebted for. You’re not being blessed, you’re being paid what you deserve.

It’s time people started valuing their effort and understanding that compensation is a Right, not a privilege.
You are not fit to head a simple department because:
1) You are incapable of identifying eye service
2) You judge employees not on their efficiency and productivity but based on how much they lick your ass
3) You can easily be manipulated because you not a logical person but you are an emotional person

Some work place are just so wicked, they will stress u because of ur salary. It isn't as if they don't have the money o but they are just devil's in human form. Because why the hell would you hold your employees salary until like 10th of the next month when you know some of them are family people and depend solely on this money. That is just the basic things some of this wicked employers do. Some any little mistake they remove fine.

yes a salary is a right - but the fact of the matter is a lot of bosses do not always meet their obligations and as a naija mater, there is nothing you can do about it.

my first job - my salary was i think 15 or 23k per month and it was always in trickles. we never got the salary in full.

one time my old employer a proper corp had serious cash flow issues and we were all collecting half salary for months

i am an employer today and i have clients who owe us big money for months on end. we don't cascade the same down to our team.

as a naija matter if i choose not to pay you your salary as at when due - there is really not that much you can do if you are not a person of means to begin with

Fortunately for you, you are the one with low esteem here, no one ever got rich by being paid a salary including that your employer you are worshipping.
The thank you is in your performance or meeting up with your monthly targets/objectives, anything else like that message above is extra curricular activities that will begin either with lunch or dinner breaks 2gether and end up only on mattress or snitching on coworkers.
This is not about saner climes.
This is Nigeria, for the fact that you don't respect your employees or your employers don't respect you does not mean that the same culture is applied everywhere in Nigeria.
Speak for yourself only.
Salary is money owed you for work already done.
Read that again x3
Only a human being with no dignity/principle can send such a message after receiving his wages.
An effeminate man or a f◇k boy, e no fit pass those 2 categories.
Therefore, I would take a wild guess that his employers name is Jacob while his real name is Esau.

At least
1. that's an employer, meaning she has a platform for others to earn from and feed their families with.

2. Her employees are grateful - implying they don't work like an elephant to earn like an ant..

Kudos to her.
More of people like this will help the country. More youths will like to work than be on the streets.
She is doing well abeg .

Hmm hmm. Let her do it o! Most employers in Nigeria see themselves as gods. You can see her boss positively acknowledged it.

I usually write "received with thanks"

I dislike offering verbal appreciation; I’d rather communicate through my work ethic. Compliments often get to people's heads, and they start believing they are doing you a favor. I prefer to let my results speak for me. If the employer is treating me well, he will see the gratitude in my productivity. However, if he starts misbehaving, he will notice the shift in my actions immediately.
same here, even as an employer, won't encourage such messages it clouds my judgement, my staffs who did such in the past traumatised me, when I recieve such compliments, I affirm that they are entitled to it once agreements are fulfilled, make everyone including myself be accountable.

We once had a staff that does the same thing. He is always acknowledging salary payments and with prayers sef. Meanwhile he was busy defrauding the organization, directing clients payment to his account on the pretext that the company account has issues, not issuing receipt for transactions. ... He was caught and dismissed with automatic alacrity angry grin grin
