When it comes to religious extremism in Islam, no tribe or region is spared. Islam actually teaches radicalism and hatred towards other faith. Violence is the foundation of Islam. Those that are not showing it openly is because of their level of education and exposure. When you change the stage, you'll be surprised to see how someone you viewed as being tolerant and peaceful change colour like chameleon.

The best approach is to continue preaching and innoculating them with the gospel of peace and tolerance. Then treat the violent ones accordingly. Even Lions and Tigers can be tamed.

It changes a lot.The true hausa Muslims are not fanatics up in the North. The kogi/yoruba Muslims usually have different mosque. And thr women can pray in the same mosque. It is thr women that formed nasfat.
The hausa moslem women don't pray in thr mosque. They pray at home.The hausa mallam are religious tolerant. The kogi / SW mallam are very intolerant and calls for mod action at slightest difference .The only problem is when they come to north they begin to claim full hausa identity and over time u cannot differentiate them as they never return to thr true state ever.The fear of kogi/yoruba Muslims in tertiary schools in the North is the beginning of wisdom if u sch in any in the North

Here's an Excerpt by an Ebira person about the Fulani/Nupe Jihad against their people. As usual, the Yoruba muslims joined them in the Jihad. History is about being repeated.

The Nupe invasion of Ebiraland in the late nineteenth century was an offshoot of the Fulani Jihad of 1804, spearheaded by Usman Dan Fodio. The spread of the Jihad was a sort of war action. The Sokoto jihadist conquered the Nupe Kingdom, who in turn took it upon themselves to Islamize the Ebira. The Nupe invasion was therefore in the pretext of spreading Islam.
It is common knowledge however, that slave-raiding and the ambition to plunder and loot were their main motivating factors. The Nupe first invaded Ebiraland in about 1865. The Ebira effectively damned the tide of the invaders, then came another massive but equally abortive invasion variously put to have occurred in 1875 or 1885. The Nupe warriors assisted by their Ilorin and Ibadan cohorts attacked Ebiraland through Ihima. The Ebira again emerged triumphant.
The success of the Ebiraland in defending their “ete ohiku” was due to a number of factors. The Ebira were very brave people who would prefer to die than to allow foreigners (ani ikinami) to laud it over them. Their skill with bow and arrows buttressed their bravery while the hilly nature of their environment proved an added advantage over the Nupe who fought on horse-back.
The gods of Ebiraland did not go to sleep when their ‘children’ were being threatened by external invaders. Either by coincidence or supernatural design, the invaders disturbed the hive of a swarm of bees on the hill housing “Ori Ihima” deity. The bees stung and stung, forcing the invaders to beat a hasty retreat. For his saving grace, the “Ori Ihima” was acclaimed as the divine force that preserved the independence of the Ebira until the colonial wind of change swept over Ebiraland in 1903-4.
The war had some consequences on the whole Ebiraland. It disturbed farming, thereby causing famine in the land. Some of the Ebira captives during the war were sold into slavery and slave raiding (ako) became widespread even among indigenes.

Ebira people really tried to resist the Fulani jihad of the 1800s. They fought and resisted but the Fulanis were joined by the Yoruba and Nupe Muslims until the Ebira resistance was defeated. What you now have are an Ebira muslims with pent up anger. They are more fanatical than anyone you can think.
However, Ebiras are known to be a very bold fierce and hardworking people. It's unfortunate that Islam forcefully took over their land without anyone helping them out.

You do need to stop being mischievous. Ibadan was never a refugee camp but a war training camp of the yorubas. Secondly why classify ilorin broadly as the yorubas. Next time just mention their name instead of trying to tarnish the Yoruba name.
The yorubas had serious problems with the ilorin people who allied with the fulanis to try and islamize the whole tribe. It took many battles before they were routed.
Yoruba people believe that a man should choose his own religion.
