The target na the pastors. They are just bringing in Imams into the equation to balance the mix. Which alfa or imam you go tax make him followers no do you strong things? It would be easier to hold the pastors to account but you see Imams, nothing go happen. Moslems would defend the Imams while the Christians will tell the pastors to go and pay their taxes.

Wahala go bust ooo, wetin concern imam and Pastors for this matter?Dem be men of God
Even Jesus said “Give unto Caesar, what is caesar’s”

If Caesar (Government) demands you pay tax, you pay tax! End.

***************************************************

Mark 12 : 15-17

Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”

They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.

Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.

Its a good thing to pay tax in as much as you earn, you are liable to pay tax without taxes to government can meed the yarnings of the people, we need good roads, we need modern infrastructure life free WiFi, free medical care, quality education, uninterrupted electricity supply all these demand needs funds to make them available. Many Nigerian like to cut corners they want good things from the government but when they say pay tax, you see them crumbling. No good thing come on a plater of golden. Nigerian be ready to pay your tax and stop complaining.
I don't know when you're born or when your parents were born.....
But please can you tell us one good thing the FG or SG or LG have done with the tax payers money since 1999 but you can look back and compare from the early '80s..
Good luck.

Nigeria is already over-taxed.

We want accountability not more taxing. Criminals!
Overtaxed and underserved by those we allow into political posts in local, state and federal governments.

How many local, state and federal government officials are employing teachers and workers that are well paid to provide free education to all children, water to all houses, clean & clear gutters etc huh

How do you expect people to pay tax in a nation ravaged by banditry and terrorism? What will be the ground for taxing people when the ones you have been collecting does not translate to better living conditions for them?

When a criminal is in charge the supposed outcome will be criminality please let them extend it to the traditionalist and their workers useless master strategies, he should also remember adding the bandits because they are now on payroll. Agibo ole.

I hope this taxation thing will not backfire on this government.

You want to copy the west but you don't treat your citizens the way they treat theirs.

The only thing you do is to make promises, I even heard that they can go into your account and deduct taxes.

That's when you will know Nigerians no get joy.

So who is or where is the government reform equivalent of the Mr. Oyedele.

From what you say. One will expect that the government will make the plugging of revenue leaks and the effective and efficient use of resources viz a smaller and more nimble bureaucracy an equal priority. And will be sought with as much gusto as the inflows.

But we all know they are all rubbing their hands in glee. Awaiting the windfall come 2026 so they can achieve their personal aims and objectives and properly feed their white elephants.

The UK budget is out tomorrow or Thursday if I am not mistaken and tax rises are speculated. It is the most important talk in the UK right now. Everyone in the Labour government is questioned on this matter because these things can make or break a government.

Here the only one speaking about such an important matter is a certain task force head. Not even the Minister of Finance has uttered a word on the biggest tax reforms in the history of this country and as for the President who should be the lead salesman, he is not even in the picture.

Just shows how out of touch the head, the government and the people are with the way Nigeria is governed and just shows how we have sleep walked into the abyss.

If you are taxing Pastors and Imans, equally include Native doctors too. The list should encompass all forms of spirituality and scientology.

Fair is fair
Everyone’s account will be looked into and taxed, except if the native doctors don’t keep their money in the bank

This government will surely push the masses to the point of no return. Why is Tinubu and his goons this desperate? Why are they trying to suffocate the masses? Why can't they reason for a second? Tinubu is truly the worst president ever. I regret voting this man truly

Holds true, makes huge sense and this is the way forward.

These pastors have this annoying arrogance when they go pontificating that they don't spend a dime of church money. Yet, they collect humongous salaries from the same church.

With that salary set to be taxed, they will collect directly from the church purse now.

Religion is a huge business.
Christianity is business not Islam

Only pastors buy jets and Lamborghini. No single imam has private jet

I don't have issues with taxation but hope the money won't be stolen.... If we want our country to be developed, then we must start doing what developed countries do.... D only issue is stealing on our part
So, after they stole oil money, gas money, lithium money, gold, silver, cocoa, subsidy, so, tax money is holy money that wont be stollen?
Lol, u dont know nigerians, they are born criminals. Some humans and cronies about to get super rich on our sweat after stealing our collective natural resources.
