I missed this message cheesy cheesy

Nope, mine is FWD, no need for differential servicing cause it got none. I do tyre rotation often, though this ride is mostly seating in the parking lot. I got a volvo to replace the corolla that made me super insecure. It's really lovely but I don't think I have time to make a thread for it
One of the sexiest "Coupe-esque" sedan Volvo ever built. cool

No lie, I've seen a couple.

The coupe-like slope and that signature Volvo muscle stance mean this should be the real muscle, not that 'tin can Camry' claiming muscle. cool

It looks really cool and drives even better cheesy cheesy Sometimes, I think of where to go to, just to drive it, especially with the upgraded infotainmentsystem grin grin grin grin

Funny enough, it is a better cruiser than my RX, it only lacks ground clearance (its strength and same time, its greatest weakness grin grin grin)

Oh i see,why would he want a RWD in such a huge car, guess he's a pertrol head. cool

What are the problems he encountered?

if am to get those German SUV's,diesel is the way to go.

Torquey,economical yet durable.

You're forgetting all-round safety. cool

Yh,you have an Suv already, that model S60 cc would have solved your clearance issues. cool

That's not true, Diesel engines are stronger/durable.

200,000km is just a warm up.

Electricals? Yes.

Buying diesel engine here is a waste of money. It requires longer time to warm up and it only excels in highway drive (who drives highway in this insecure country?) Also carbon buildup will come in handy grin grin

It is just not worth it, yes, it will have torque but horsepower will be lacking (see the video below)

You who have even been reading online articles and searching online should had known better, our diesel quality does NOT get to Euro3 levels of compliances. These cars are Euro 6.

You'd battle clogged diesel injections pumps endlessly and they are scarce and when you find them, they're extremely expensive. The ADblue are extremely scarce and expensive. Do not forget DPF filter also gers blocked overtime and to replace them, they are scarce and expensive. I had to abandon a W166 ML with a diesel engine for the owner after searching both in Abuja, Lagos, Onitsha and PH for just 1 single diesel injector. The owner eventually had to pay for brand new set from US. It was not cheap. Don't even get me started on how ridiculously simple a hilux and a mitsubishi L200 CRD diesel is, yet, they're complex to mechanics here.

There are reasons why most fleet owners do NOT go near Euro 5 diesel trucks in Nigeria, I can tell you because I'm a fleet manager that handles a number of organisations fleet too.

Dey play, I say, dey play!

I still insist, the god wey dey plan to do am for you, make e no do that type for me.

lack of technical know-how and 'follow-follow' syndrome made people scared of diesel here, hence the scarcity and expensive parts. Technically, these things can be prevented/repaired/maintained just like a petrol car,it's not rocket science as you're making it seem.

As for clogging, you just need a certain temperature to solve the DPF issues, which is achieved through sustained driving.
I have already agreed they are expensive to source and I stated why; you just need to have cash.

I am looking at the benefits of diesel, which are massive compared to these potential problems. Some older diesel cars do not even have DPF systems, resulting in fewer issues. It appears you aren't aware Dangote has Euro 5 standard diesel...with time we'll get there.
I would sacrifice enjoying more freeway runtimes and dealing with sourcing some parts (even if expensive) to enjoy a torquey, economical car that is reliable if well maintained and managed.

You involving God and doings implies you're part of the reasons people hardly buy diesel/Luxurious cars, just like y'all tell us not to buy any car except Corolla.

Peeps drive Vogue,Evoque,Urus,Jaguar...even in Naija here, human have diverse needs, we can't always like the same thing,so relax man.

Spoken like a "Typical Nigerian".

Heavy duty trucks and buses uses petrol too?

I still see VW TDI's,why is that?

I stated why people hug Petrol cars,na folks like you cause am.

If Davido buys a Diesel and hypes it, Peller buys one,B lord buys, young guys starts buying, Mechanics will start sourcing, it's a simple cycle...

There are little advantage Petrol cars have over Diesel, folks just believe diesel smokes and some how its crude to own, others prefer petrol engine revs and sound.

I just gave international and national reason.

People drive Porsche in Naija,Money is the factor.

I still see reliable Sienna's open bonnets on the highway, while i drive by,they also believe their cars need no maiintainace just put fuel and drive. grin

of course, there is no car people don't drive in naija, even super cars. However, my point is that these cars are suffering here and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The cars we are talking about here requires premium fuel or premium diesel, using additives at the filling station won't help (the impact of these very low octane fuel on these performance cars are very catastrophic, trust me). We lack good mechanics here, especially when it comes to these special vehicles, and when you get a mechanic that can do the job, it is either he is too swarmed to help, or he has bad ego that you can't deal with. More so, getting genuine parts is a big issue, I know you will say ship it, but how will that scale? Pack the car every time something breaks down? Let me not even go to the part of bad roads and useless commercial drivers that drive like they own the road and won't obey traffic laws.

Fair enough.

I get your point... development doesn't start overnight, we are already embracing CNGs, Electrical cars.

Our Mechanics are lazy, they pass it on to their customers, their customers pass it to neighbor, neighbor passes it to a dealer, dealers sources based on demand.
This is how someone keeps driving a 2000 Corolla and not willing to upgrade.
Go to Obalende for instance I see more Rangies and GLE Coupe than I see a Highlander,Pilot, I'm very certain the mechanics over there are used to Ranges already that's how stuff work.
Drive that same Rangie in say Iyana ipaja for instance filled with Toyota's and stuff and you'll see mechanics and looking at you like you brought in an alien, there are parts for Porsche, Range, Audi, BMW, expensive, yes.
We need to start exploring and developing.
That S60 you bought is so rare, if you told a Mechanic around they'll tell you "don't buy", electricals, parts, but I can see you're enjoying your ride, how do you source the parts?
That's my point comrade.

You can never see anyone accelerating and leaning forward, that is torque, torque is what you use to move when you're climbing hills. Horsepower is your Torque multiplied by engine rpm, corolla Uber could be outputting 105hp at 2000rpm while a V6 highlander could be outputting 200hp at 2000rpm, na why Corolla Uber guy go hear fiam, hp pass hp.

All valid points, say our mechanics encourage people on diesels, it'll still never be popular on our roads, most Nigerians are poor, how many Nigerians do fill up at gas stations even as they use petrol cars? People just dey manage, if small hold up catch people for route wey hold up no dey dey na people wey no go reach house go plenty pass.
The resale value our people are obsessed about will never let them get close, I always wonder why the next thing anyone could be about is how to sell a vehicle when at the point of purchase 😂. Let us forget about parts and maintenance, shey Nigerians fit afford diesels? People wey dey run from ordinary V6 petrol cars.

Thanks for your response. Given this explanation "corolla Uber could be outputting 105hp at 2000rpm while a V6 highlander could be outputting 200hp at 2000rpm", that mean speed (km/h) measurement across vehicles will not be be the same.

I mean if "corolla uber", assuming is outputting 105hp at 2000rpm, and V6 highlander is outputting 200hp at 2000rpm, corolla uber could be at 80km/h, does it mean that V6 highlander could already be at 100km/h?

I drive my father's corolla 2010 4 cylinders and at 100km/h the rpm is at 2500. My car is RX400h 6 cylinder. I'm currently unable to do the assessment myself because my speedometer is not working and even if it is working the RX400h does not have RPM section on dashboard.

Horsepower is what gives you speed, it is a measure of the value of torque multiplied by the engine rpm (engine speed), speed is a measure of horsepower and horsepower is what happens when torque and engine speed are combined.
That is why a corolla Uber could be screaming so loudly at 140km/HR and have to rev at 2000+ rpm to reach and maintain this speed, while the Highlander could be making close to no sound at the same 2000rpm and moving at 180km/HR, the corolla Uber's engine is near its best performance and begging for mercy, while the Highlander is yet to begin actual work, and of course bigger engine in the Highlander means more supply of air and fuel, which also translates to more power, that is what HP is about. I have made this explanation without mentioning transmission because that is not so important as far as corolla Uber and V6 highlander are examples i used, would be different if it was a Toyota highlander V6 and an Hyundai santa fe V6.
