Honestly, looking at this list makes you realize why some African countries never take off. Countries like Morocco, Egypt, and Tunisia are tourist magnets because they’ve actually invested in infrastructure, stability, and marketing.

Meanwhile, Nigeria—blessed with culture, history, beaches, and entertainment gold—is barely on the radar. Why? Because we glorify corruption, mismanage cities, and treat tourism as an afterthought. You want tourists? Stop celebrating mediocrity and start building a system that actually works.

Frankly, until Nigeria gets serious, we’ll keep exporting talent and importing empty hotels. It’s not luck, it’s negligence. cry

My beloved country Nigeria is not among the top 10....

i thought we imported Fulani herdsmen here.
I thought Chinese mining investors are here.
I thought APC brought in investors from around the world here
I thought President Tinubu will take care of the economy and I though vice president shettima will handle security
May God help Nigeria!

The citizens of those countries don’t go about demarketing their countries. Nigerians are always on social media always promoting negativity about the country. So, why should tourists want to visit Nigeria?
Shut up. You think foreigners don't know what goes on in your country?

If there were no negativity outweighing positivity in the country, they would not talk about it.

Citizens of Kenya protested sometime ago and blast their government everyday on social media. Same with SA and other African countries. Tunisia protests against government ignited the Arab spring

Problem with a particular group of people in Nigeria called Agbadorians is, they will look for ways to blame the citizens for the failure of the government, until Tinubu leaves office, then they go back to blaming government

These people praised Buhari for 8 straight years as the best, then condemned him as the worst soon after he left office.

This image summarizes Agbadorians. Tueh!
grin grin

What a perfect and fit definition of stomach infrastructure People. As their cap is bent so is their life, mouth and everything about them.

Will the average Nigerian citizens make policies that will guarantee safety of tourists?

You must be a blind supporter to excuse the government from this issue.

.

It is not about de-marketing, but about infrastructures, safety, ease of travel, visa restrictions, security, tourist attractions, low corruptions, value for money etc.

For example last year, I flew from Stockholm (Sweden) to Marrakesh (Morocco) for 50 dollars return ticket with Ryanair. The direct flight was over 5 hours one way. Now can you fly from Lagos to Abuja which is about an hour for 50 dollars?

For about 30 usd a night, i stayed in a very modern apartment in the heart of Marrakesh, and a fine dining cost even less than you get in Lagos Island. That is why Europeans and westerners troop in daily.

When Nigeria ditch corruption and makes the country liveable, people will come.

This speaks volume. Any reasonable Nigerian who desire a good Nigeria should be worried about Nigeria not being in this list. It clearly shows how bad Nigeria have degenerated.
