One of a friend who was affected clarified during the week that the way the bandits take control of the forests is such a way that when you venture in you won’t return back, and that security officials even deliberately avoid the town and surrounding villages ever since the invasion. And remaining indigenes are left to depend on die hard vigilantes and local militias who remain resolute.
All the report that police is doing this and that were completely false.
If security personnel are serious about surveillance they should deploy the use of drones and air support. Going on foot or trucks to challenge them will lead to ambushes as this bandits are not only knowledgeable about the forest but also have fire power and drones.

We've got them. You'd be surprised the amount of aerial surveillance equipment we have.

The problem is corruption. They asked for maintenance funds for fully functional equipment they never use. And the centralized but compartmented security structure means that the different services hardly work together. Each "oga" is full of himself and hardly defers to another oga, so the airforce won't coordinate with the ground units for ISR and CAS, hence the frequent ambushes.

This is a good directive from Mr President,I pray God help our security forces. Nigeria must win this war, some ragtag armed group can never and will never hold the whole of Nigeria to ransom.

God put all the enemies of this country and their supporters to shame.

If I tell you that our air force is useless it will appear as if I'm just being needlessly dramatic.
Must the president do everything? Must he have to give basic orders before the airforce carries out its mandate? Close to two weeks after a resurgence of kidnapping incidents and the airforce has to wait for a presidential directive before mounting up basic surveillance on a corridor that terrorist elements have turned to an enclave?

The president needs to be constantly fed real time intel that will aid his decision making. It is the job of the security agencies to provide him that intel. They do not need to wait for his orders before doing something so basic.

It's like you haven't read your constitution to know that the whole buck stop at the table of the President. Our military don't have this power and discretion without directive of President. If they cross where they are not supposed to carry out operations, there may be conflict of interest and agenda, so the boss will answer for it. That's why they can't do anything that's why the politicians are the greatest problem we have. The army don't have autonomy. Our constitution is a useless document..
