Assuming we were in the pre-APC years of relative safety, or more conservatively, the OBJ years, would you still be pushing for everyone to have their guns? Especially knowing that the situation in the US is an exception, and not the norm...
Since 30 cultists came into my University of over 20000 students and killed to their fill in 1999 that has always been my solution. Even in OBJ times the NC has been a theater of war where one side holds weapons and the other side hope for military or police to come help them and that's when their phones and communication devices will go down.

OBJ did not have the benefit of governing in the time when the region has been destabilized and the collapse of Libya which turned almost every west African state into a Jihadist playground

Exactly, giving citizens guns would create its own problems, in avoiding a problem that most countries of the world have sorted, we shouldn't end up creating another that'd be even harder to manage.
Look at Europe that do not share a border with a cartel run country like the US. Check the safest countries in Europe and check their laws on gun ownership you will realize most of them allow gun ownership and they are still safe

You will just know that there is an element of truth in this from the moment Nigerian Military authorities came out to deny the allegations.

Even Sahara reporters did a story on it last month and the Soldiers who spoke to them under anonymity confirmed the "repentant" Boko Haram members who are supposed assisting them with intelligence gathering still end up leaking own operational strategies to their fellow terrorists on the outside.

As SaharaReporters earlier reported, many soldiers have expressed anger and frustration at being compelled by their commanders to patrol, share intelligence, and even live in the same camps with former Boko Haram members who “surrendered” under government amnesty programmes.

“In our camp, we have repentant Boko Haram members; those ones that surrendered. They are working with us. We go on patrol together so that they can give us information about Boko Haram fighters still hiding in the bush,” one soldier said.

He added, however, that many of them had used that arrangement to infiltrate the army and feed information back to the terrorists

“Some of them have run back to the bush to rejoin Boko Haram after gathering intelligence from us. That’s why we don’t believe they are truly repentant
.

Another soldier described the policy as a betrayal of the sacrifices of frontline troops.

“These people killed our colleagues and civilians. Then one day they say they have surrendered, and the government forgives them just like that. Now we are forced to work with them. It doesn’t make sense.”

According to multiple sources, some of these ex-fighters have been given motorbikes, stipends, and even military uniforms by the Yobe and Borno State Governments, allegedly to help in counter-insurgency operations.

“They are paid salaries and fed whatever we eat in the camp,” another soldier disclosed
.

There are only three countries in the world with constitutional gun rights... US, Mexico and Guatemala. The US and Mexico are in the top three for gun-related deaths, and per-capita Guatemala is number three.

These countries in Europe where people can get guns, it's not a right, there's very serious licensing and background checks required before they can get guns... And it's usually for specific purposes (hunting, sports shooting and work-related purposes, almost never for self-defense).

Can the Nigerian government pass its citizens through this level of rigour before they grant people gun licenses, or any crase person fit enter shop buy gun like gala?

Countries with way less resources than Nigeria are able to provide policing and basic security, it's not as hard to hack as you're making it look, especially when the government is serious about it.

There are 2 types of fashion stores one has to think twice about before entering.

1) The one that has few customers inside and none of the display items has a price tag

2) This one is very crucial. The one that has someone at the door serving complimentary champagne to customers as they go in……and no one is going in.

Most people who made their money through sheer hardwork actually care about the price of each and everything they pay for.
