This is cricket. It is called Urẹ in my language. The insect is very edible and snacky when smoked or fried with red oil.

Where the hell does all these insects go? I have not seen them in years

This is a rich source of protein and it’s very delicious when deep fried! We used to hunt it as kids, and it’s usually available in the rainy season, especially July and August. If you start cricket farming in Naija, you will make a killing.

Though I saw childhood friends eating it back then in my neighborhood but I never tried it because I get easily irritated.....There was a day one of my friends removed the legs and started eating it raw.
Very nourishing and rich but though you will have to fry it before eating
I ran home and started vomiting. ......Tega you nor well.

I don't think so, most bitter vegetables are medicinal and are gifts from the gods to our ancestors, the knowledge was passed to them not necessarily hunger
