Boko Haram Members Found In Army Recruitment List - Ahmed Idris Wase by Sodiq3(op): 1:51pm On Nov 26, 2025
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, on Wednesday alleged that names of Boko Haram members were once discovered on the Nigerian Army recruitment list, warning that such infiltration is undermining the country’s security architecture.

Speaking during a special plenary session of the House convened to review the national security situation, Wase said former Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Muktar Betara, could confirm the incident.

He said the development reflects the deep flaws in Nigeria’s recruitment processes, which have allowed individuals with criminal backgrounds to enter sensitive security institutions.

Wase, who revealed that he lost both a brother and a cousin to terrorists, said the infiltration of the system helps explain why criminal groups continue to operate freely in many parts of the country.

He added that insecurity has become so overwhelming that his surviving younger brother begged him to help secure a transfer out of their community.

He said: "My brother, former chairman of defense, and my very good friend, Betara, will bear with me that we have moments in when in the process of recruitment, we found in the list names of criminals. Boko Haram members were found in the list of Army.

"There has to be a thorough way of ensuring that when we are recruiting, those of us who are politicians should recommend people of good character and integrity. That's the only way we can solve this problem. You find a criminal in the system, and before you know it, whatever you do, you cannot have the problem resolved. So we must change the system and way of our recruitment.

Yes, as politicians, it's good to recommend. This is what we are here for. But when you are recommending, please recommend people of integrity, people that will meet standards and ensure that they give the best access to our country."

The former deputy speaker warned that Nigeria’s security crisis persists partly because some individuals benefit from the chaos, enabling criminals to move in convoys and operate with impunity.

Wase further lamented the politicisation of indigeneship and citizenship, describing it as one of the key issues dividing the country and calling for constitutional reforms to address the problem.

He noted that kidnapping has become routine, with about N5 billion reportedly paid as ransom in one year, while more than 30,000 people have been killed in Boko Haram-related attacks over time.

Wase urged lawmakers to take a holistic approach to the crisis, stressing that the scale of insecurity facing the country is more dangerous than many realise and requires urgent, coordinated action.

Northerners are very phoney people.

They need to choose between sharia and civilisation, and choose between jihad and peaceful coexistence.

Or we can divide this country peacefully via referendum between South and North.

Listen, even if they publish the list, you won't believe it because you have not encountered these terrorists..

By the time hand touch someone close to you, you will understand.

The former deputy speaker lost two brothers to these terrorists and you believe he is making this up..

Do you need more evidence than what APC criminals said about their support for Boko Haram in the past huh

When APC leaders looters are ready, they will pack their terrorists back to where they came from.

[throwback Today [ 2013]

Former Head of State and Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major General Muhammadu Buhari has faulted the federal government’s clampdown on Boko Haram Islamic insurgents.
He accused the government of killing and destroying their houses while the Niger Delta militants were given special treatment by the government.

Buhari who first spoke in Hausa before the English version accused politicians from the Niger Delta region of starting the current in security in the country by recruiting and arming youths of the region in their desperate attempt to retain power as governors.
The former Nigerian leader said that unlike the special treatment given to the Niger Delta militants by the federal government, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished by government.

While accusing President Jonathan of failing from the beginning to address the security situation in the country, Buhari said he has never been in support of the state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state.

“How did Boko Haram start? We know that their leader, Mohammed Yusuf started his militant and the police couldn’t control them and the army was invited. He was arrested by soldiers and handed over to the police.

The appropriate thing to do, according to the law, was for the police to carry out investigations and charge him to court for prosecution, but they killed him, his in-law was killed, they went and demolished their houses.

“Because of that, his supporters resorted to what they are doing today. You see in the case of the Niger Delta militants, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua sent an aeroplane to bring them, he sat down with them and discussed with them, they were cajoled, and they were given money and granted amnesty.
“They were trained in some skills and were given employment, but the ones in the north were being killed and their houses were being demolished. They are different issues, what brought this? It is injustice”.

Things are getting scarier by the day.

Let me tell you what is happening: the same way rel!g!on made a mess with Mali, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc., that same ideology is about to turn Nigeria into one of those countries.

MINISTER OF DEFENCE – HON. MOHAMMED BADARU
MINISTER OF STATE, DEFENCE – HON. BELLO MATAWALLE

Something is really wrong with Nigeria, in that we know the people that want to d3stroy our country, we know who they are, we know what they believe in, but we are just scared to face them directly and say "its enough." We even give them positions that make them in charge of our safety.

Do you know how difficult it is to do background check on Northerners? Many of the almajiri surnames are the names of their village of origin. Ahmed Kataf from Zango Kataf, Maman Daura from Daura, Maman Kontagora from Kontagora. Goodluck finding their real family background.

The only practical way to screen them out is through certificates (minimum of SSCE) and examinations.

If Tinubu is truly interested in defeating terrorism, the first step is to find out who always gives the military the order to stand down and not engage the terrorists. At this point, policemen would do a better job since they don't need any stupid orders before engaging the terrorists.

Just as the refusal of the President to let the IGP go when he's due for retirement very bad for motivation, having the enemy within is just as dangerous.

There are rumors that there was a plan to create two armies just as we had in Sudan with this Boko Haram Bazzztards. When they infiltrate the army, Nigeria will not only pay for their prison care, we will pay for their remediation program and then pay for their enlistment. It is a very dangerous thing to do. Remember when Jonathan said these guys are in his government? The Northern oligarchy thought they would use these boys like Asari and Tompolo. They thought that they had something good to agitate with using BH, but they are not only wrong, they are evil.

Both BH and ND militants are not necessary but the state has failed in doing the right thing. The conditions under which the militants were reformed are not the same as BH. What both were fighting for are different. That Yar Adua gave them amnesty was not a licence to enlist them into the Navy. We are raising militias in each zone. It's only the SW that doesn't have yet or theirs was removed, ie OPC and recently Igboho when he tried to defend the people legitimately.

The more the state refuses to protect lives and properties and play with our lives, the more they put Nigeria in trouble.

I don't believe that. My own believe is that Nnamdi Kanu created boko haram in the north and the whole of the country. Gumi is a saint. Nigerian government must negotiate with terrorists and jail Nnamdi Kanu. That is the only justice I can hear

Taliban was being recruited secretly into Afghan national army from time to time
thats why Afghanistan fell quickly to Taliban

Same script is about to play here

Don't be surprised one day boko haram will launch a "THUNDER RUN" into Abuja and aso rock villa to proclaim a new leader of the country.

Same as HTC of Syria

The poverty, illiteracy and hopelessness the northern elites championed for decades is now biting them in the butt.
They petted this monster now it has become a hydra headed behemoth. Soon none of them would be able to leave Abuja less they be consumed by their creation.

A large crowd of Lagosians was filmed in a long queue struggling to collect a loaf of bread. To maintain order, several military personnel were on the ground to control the crowd. This has triggered a lot of reactions online.
