Osgilliat:
He sold a house that would have worth 150m in 3 to 5 years for 60m to relocate to UK of all places.
He will soon understand life in UK. Truly, some people are born to suffer.
You may be surprised that what that 60m can buy today 150m can't buy in a few years with the way out currency is collapsing.

One room in UK is better than a mansion in the zoo

That's his decision and he has reasons for taking that line.
That was a wrong decision. He did not do enough research before travelling.

He will give birth to another one in UK. Everything na calculation
mikeapollo:
I pray the 2 kids get accepted by the UK govt for permanent residency or as citizens. With that, the man would recover and regain whatever losses he suffers currently.
He must have taken such decision with some serious considerations.

Some reasons are not financial . Nd I don't know what people are saying the man will suffer , how are they even sure that the man doesn't have more houses in Nigeria ? People shouldn't use their own experience to judge other people actions .
Re: Nigerian Man Sells His House In Lagos For N60m, Relocates To UK by ShenTeh(m):
I see a lot of less-informed assumptions.

Short answer:
He made the best decision.

Again, people think those who are 'japa-ing' are those who earn ₦100k per month. 5 years ago, his ₦60m would be around ₦12m. Ask those who japaed around 5 years ago if they didn't spend around that amount for moving his family size.

₦60m wey kidnappers go carry your daughter you go dey beg make them collect give you your child back.

Don't think it can't happen to you.

he gets there and spend the next 5years looking for the same 60m to rebuild the same house that may now cost 100m, hustling without proper sleep and shuffling between jobs.

in return the UK system provide him with steady light, security and cheap food but expensive accommodation. all this just show how human want are insatiable and will continue to look for more.
He will forever regret his decision.

When you warn people before travelling, most will not listen.

They think Oyinbo streets are paved with gold. His kids would suffer the most as they will now go to their State schools filled with lots of bad boys and bullies. They won't be attending private schools there. They are going from having their own rooms to the entire family sharing a room, and in a rough neighbourhood.

A lot of people will say have money and you will enjoy Naija but they don't factor our poor healthcare system, how one minor sickness can kill you or even drain you financially, they don't factor in insecurities, how If you get kidnap you will end up spending all your live savings.

You can outsmart a failed system, if you have the opportunity to leave please do, the reason some of us are still here is because we are dead broke

A man cannot live with his wife and two kids in "one room"
The landlord who sanctioned this would be in serious trouble

He prolly sold his house true true
And left true true

But that one room part, na over dramatisation

I would put it in Treasury Bills or borrow it to different loan apps. I only survive with the interest which is 15% each year. So each year I get ₦9m

I am not extravagant. ₦700k a month is more than enough (especially as no transportion cost to work)... Of course, if their is any small side-hustle, I would invest wisely. Lay back and relax.
At 700k a month, your standard of living would still be better than his.

There's nothing wrong in travelling, but do your homework first.

My younger sister wants to to travel desperately to the UK.

Her husband refused. He said he isn't ready to start cleaning someone's poo. He has a middle class job and my sister as well. She works for a bank. It would be a downgrade.

He did well. In UK he will earn a minimum of £25,000 with a high standard of living. Health and Wealth improvement. He has secured a future for his children. He may suffer initially but he will never regret. If he manages to save £5000 a year that is N10m already
