The question is bro...
Can Nigeria survive being surrounded by military led countries?
Very good question. Nigeria, at this rate, will be the only democracy in a militarised sub-Saharan Africa.

For folks like me who witnessed full Military dictatorships in Nigeria, we know that the democracy of 1999 till date is BETTER than most of the Military dictatorships especially from 1985 with IBB till when that highly IRRESPONSIBLE and corrupt Abacha passed on in the late 1990s.

Enough is Enough for the wise. Period.

It's because you never lived under army rule that you think that the army boys were good

The same tribalism, stealing, looting, wuru wuru and bad economy existed under army rule. With the kind of human rights abuses you won't like

Plus you people call the army boko Haram and Fulani army. Na the same people you want to come and rule us?

Personally I no like apc..I also.did not like GEJ..but as I said to someone in 2013, I say it again. No to army rule.

..and is Nigeria and this federal government really practicing democracy
So you want army rule where some wacko general in power go sign decree sentencing someone to death for any useless reason?

If you want tinubu out,and I do, better start preparing the opposition for next elections abeg. We don't want to go back to the days of rule by arbitrary decrees.

And what have the like of Paul Biya, Bola Tinubu, Paul Kigame and other useless sit-tight tyrants masquerading as democrats instituted across the African continent?
And has there been a sit tight leader in Nigeria under democracy? No.

Even Obasanjo that tried it, was he not stopped by the national assembly? Even his own party members voted against him self.

How long as tilumbi in power? So na 2 years of power dey count as sit tight?

You people know why tinubu is on the seat, because atiku and obi were both too proud to unite together and send the emilokan crooner into retirement.

Raccoon, stop supporting evil because e no favour you. Am sure when GEJ was in power and people.were.calling for coup , you were saying they should kip quiet.

As for me, I have been angry and dissatisfied with every democratic leader we have had, but I say this and I say this again..no to coup. I don't want a military government that would sentence someone like mnk to death and then carry it out without delay and we can do nothing about it

They also took us from bad third world country to even worse third world country

Also they did run the country for nearly 4 decades. Naturally they had to build things. Correlation does not equal causation

They also we're responsible for making our economy even worse. Resource curse.

Plus army rule is not working for mali and Burkina and Niger. Security issues worsening as is the economy.

Always condemning. According to late Murtala Ramat Mohammed; "To prevent a coup, remove what is causing it." The political distabilization plaguing the African continent is simply due to dictators & tyrannical leaders who has bastardized democratic governance.

Meanwhile, they are denying the attempt coup they are still investigating because of political expediency as the northerners are massively involved.
Did Muritala that you are quoting survive the coup against him? Why didn't he prevent his own? You Obidients are funny, talking out of turn. At least Tinubu stopped this one in its tracks. Maybe that the difference between Obidients talking and Tinubu acting. Same way Obi do cho cho cho, but failed to unite his party but wants to unite the nation. Funny Obi supporters!

Is the economy better now in this democratic regime? It only gave freedom to an extent , same tin the military govt will do to her citizens if they speak against the govt is what the democratic regime is doing. Africa really need a good dictator to succeed.
Talking about Burkina faso so far so good there a good infrastructural development going on there , the citizens are happy while the politicians are complaining.
The cause of insecurity in those place is as a result of politicians who doesn't like the military rule not because they are fighting for the citizens

Re: Nigeria Condemns Military Coup In Guinea-Bissau by Amarachieze(m): 7:34pm On Nov 27, 2025
I don't support military coup but what we call democratic elections in African countries is not in any way different from coups. For example, the difference between Nigerian elections where thugs threatens and attack voters on the election day and coup is the same as the difference between six and dozen. I don't think the present Nigerian govt that got to power through an election that has been adjuged by international observers as below minimum standard has the moral standing to condemn coups.

Abeg you're not the only one who witnessed military regimes in Nigeria. I want to tell you things were very much ok, no bandits kidnapping people to take their pounds of blood. The North was peaceful as well as the south. So what do you have to say

Africa needs address the abuse of democracy and lack of accountabilty and good governance practices by Africa leaders or else coups will become popular.

in Africa a leader or president will perform poorly and refuse to resign and even during the next election will still fight and commit hideous crimes and practices to retain power against the will of the people.

This African practice of democracy is wrong.

Putindbutt:
These military coupists do not have sense, they are the worst at everything most especially in administrative governance. They always leave the country worse off than they met it. Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso are much worse now than when they took over. Jihadists are taking more territories, killing more soldiers. Human right abuse getting much worse, corruption at an all time high. And there have been attempts of counter coups, which clearly suggested that the Juntas are not providing the solutions needed hence the need to even overthrow them too.
Secondly, I blame Gen Yakubu Gowon for this mess. When President Tinubu was trying to nib this in the bud, Gowon wrote a letter to Tinubu pleading with him to reverse his decisions against Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. Being the founder of ECOWAS, he wouldn't want to witness the disintegration of the body. Well, President Tinubu listened to him, reversed his decisions and lifted all sanctions against the countries and then asked them to return to ECOWAS. Now see how other military coupists are being emboldened because there was no severe consequences for the earlier criminals. If Gen Yakubu Gowon had allowed the President followed through on his actions and make an example of the coupists, it would have sent a strong warnings to every military forces on the continent of Africa.
No vex remove Burkina Faso from this list.

It's not the West. You think the west that champion democracy is working for it's removal. These are the underlining work of Russia. That popular military man at Cote D'Ivoire, I don't remember his name, didn't aline himself with West, he did with Russia. He was even there at their celebration earlier this year.

Russia has penetrate Africa. Telling this people democracy does not work and making other promises.

Russia have wanted to spread their own form of government and believe for a long time.
