Amid FG’s Delay, Ivory Coast Airlifts ex-President Jonathan from Guinea-Bissau
Re: Côte D’ivoire’ Not Nigeria Airlifted Jonathan From Guinea-bissau by F117nighthawk:
How can this government airlift him? If it's one criminal or past convicted person, they are the ones that will quickly send their servants to go quickly plead and bring him back. Have we not seen them celebrating and giving exconvicts respects and appointments . They don't celebrate gentlemen it's not in their DNA

Very irresponsible for the FG to not lift a Former President in a direct situation like that.

Shameful really.
Where the ones that sent him to rig elections in that country? If the elections were free and fair there d be no coup.

Cant GEJ do anything right? angry

FG did not send him there and they also did not envisage a coup happening. So, they couldn’t have made arrangement to fly him out in case of emergency. In situations like that, people jump on the next available option. If the Côte D’Ivoire aircraft was the one immediately available for evacuation, it’s only sensible to jump on it instead of waiting for an aircraft from Nigeria.
but why? Haha!
One will wonder why politicians treats us so badly in this country just imagine what a citizen of country wrote. Making excuses for government failures. Does Nigerian lives not matter anymore? Issokay o

Sebi dem don Airlifted him?

Doesn't matter, in cases like this, the Junta are always weary and cautious of who they allow to fly planes in and out of the Country.

Thank you Ivory Coast we will retaliate this kind gesture someday too.

Partisanship have blinded your common sense. So it's not the duty and responsibility of the FG to airlift him?

In an emergency, the nearest available option is the best option. So nothing wrong if ivory coast maybe had the best resources on the ground at that moment. However, Nigeria government has to do better and be more coordinated.

What kind of stupid talk is this? It was an emergency situation and many people hopped on the next available flight out of there.

So he should be checking if it's Nigerian plane before he entered it?
Nigeria with all it's acclaimed status of African Giant, is there any country in west Africa they should be afraid to enter? Which yeye emergency situation? So if it was Tinubu, he would be sticker there and waiting for Ivory Coast to save him? Besides ivory coast isn't the closest country to Guinea bissau

Tinubu govt is just too docile. If they can fail in rescuing a former president that is trapped in another country how much more an ordinary citizen. Shame on Tinubu

Tinubu and his friends wants to make a show out of those, they were waiting to let the situation escalate before the Nigerian armed forces move to rescue Jonathan then they will make a big deal out of it.

AMINDA:
Everything is politics to you. America sent its elite force to come into Nigeria to rescue an ordinary citizen that was held hostage by terrorists. The citizen was also not on official assignment, he was just a citizen. Look at you justifying the lethargy displayed by a government when one of its past Presidents was in a dire situation, and yet, you want the rest of Africa to respect Tinubu. With the amount of resources being invested to prevent Jonathan from contesting, we know you all and your principal were praying for the worst to happen.

If it is to attempt to invade Niger for the applause of his French owners, that's where we will find him.
What exactly are you ranting about? You and your likes are the ones playing dirty politics with this and the way you quickly made it about 2027 election even made it more obvious.

To start with, a Jonathan that has been out of office since 2015 with no political party under his control is no threat to anybody. He’s not even a threat to his local government chairman in Bayelsa not to talk of President Bola Tinubu.

And on the issue of his evacuation, I guess you expect President Tinubu to hop on the presidential jet and fly straight to Bissau to rescue him. Or you expect FG to station an aircraft at the airport anytime Jonathan or another former this and that is traveling so that they can go in for a rescue operation in case there is a need for emergency evacuation, right?

For proper context, Jonathan’s life was never in danger, he was not kidnapped or detained by anybody. A military coup happened and by standard, the airspace of the country was shut down by the coupist. Emergency evacuations are discussed over diplomatic channels with the coup plotters and you don’t just fly a plane into such country simply because you’re Nigeria. An emergency evacuation may be seen by the plotters as an attempt to foil the coup so they have to approve all flights into the country pending when stability is achieved.

Côte D’Ivoire already had a plane on ground in the country and the FG reached out to the Ivorian government to help evacuate Jonathan alongside other people. So, how’s that a problem? Why should any sane person be crying over this?

You cant trivilize government incompetence and un seriousness ... if that could happwn to a former president what is your fate as a common Nigeria, what is the fate of your children in trouble ... OYO thats the country we find ourselves

Tinubu had ambition of becoming president for over 20yrs .. he is president today and appears Overwhelmed, cluelezz and indecisive when it comes to resolving our long existing problem

Wait .. what exactly did Tinubu think Presidency was about .. he is either cluelezz or hesitant about national issues

True. Kudos to Ivory Coast. But no matter how good or evil you are in this life, you will definitely have allies.

The present government see Jonathan as a potential opponent in 2027 elections..

Moreover he is not an APC member..

So there was no need for them to act at all.

That is why it’s said that the report and the reporter were being mischievous and aiming at stroking your emotions. Ivory Coast is obviously the quickest route to and out of the troubled nation. The whole thing happened fast and unexpected and it’s not as thou the man was abandoned for days but since you love anything and material that criticizes the person and country you love to hate, you fall in line without applying ur number 6. You can criticize but common sense needs to be applied in some cases. That’s how intelligent people criticize constructively

If they were quick to announce that he was already out of danger, isn’t that a pointer that they were keenly concerned and following the situation? Like I said earlier, most of you just criticize without using ur brns.
See, I may not like you but as a human who thinks and who isn’t moved by silly emotions, I criticize without with my brain actively working and my emotions checked so I don’t look stupid.
Was the man abandoned before or did he cry out that he tried to reach the FG for help but they declined to?
I won’t be surprised if the former president later comes out to clarify that it’s the FG that facilitated the move.
