I also want to ask can I pay for green card directly from Nigeria with an access bank visa dollar card?

No, i don't think you can do that. I think the payment must be made from a U.S. bank. You can only pay with a card issued by a U.S. bank or use other payment methods, such as paying in person at an authorized location..

Don't take my word for it though. You can still do your own digging. I could be wrong.

Trump is about to permanently pause migration from third world countries. Will this affect Nigeriav? And will it affect ongoing petitions

Good day everyone, I am an f3 applicant

I really appreciate everyone on here. Please can I use my petitioner’s American passport as a proof of citizenship? And do I have to show proof of my savings to be able to live comfortably in the USA without my joint sponsor or needing food stamps etc

From what I know, your petitioner’s valid American passport is perfectly acceptable as proof of U.S. citizenship.

As for your own savings, you generally don’t need to present them unless the consular officer specifically asks. What the embassy mainly looks at is whether your petitioner can support you or not.

Nothing to do with Nigeria, likely the same list of countries from a previous act.

The new announcement seems to be backlash from an afghan migrant who shot 2 national guards last week. Unfortunately 1 of them has passed away.

Question who is asking for this proof of citizenship?
Nvc wouldn't ask for proof of citizenship for petitioner. For your application to get this far it has been proven.

Your second question, your personal savings is not relevant.

I'm sure your joint sponsor already provided tax returns or w2 .it's the petitioner or joint sponsors proof of income that's relevant

Yes, but he spoke about adding more countries to the list on the 29th, so far there's no concrete list of what countries will be added, but with the stupid banditry issue going on in the country. He has an excuse to add Nigeria to that list, let's just hope that doesn't happen.

I guess it's not that straightforward. He's afghan likely worked for the US as a mercenary so when Taliban took over he was able to get refuge.

Who knows his thinking, sigh. Ideology and pain can be driver.

Good evening my people. I used to be a very active member of this thread 10 years ago . Was active until COVID time but lost access to my original account. Infact, I was one of the most active here then. We used to have this person from the consulate that helped with Q&A. We used to have a thread that was strictly for immigrants visa shenanigan. I don’t know if the thread still exist. I did my spouse immigrant visa 2011.

I have a small DILEMMA and need some help . I have kinda lost touch on the current policies AND updates as it pertains to immigrant visa . A lot have changed the past few years.

In 2016, my parents came to US on visiting visa. My dad was retired and my mom headmistress. My mom stayed for 1 month then and went back to Nigeria cos she couldn’t leave her school for too long. My dad stayed back and I ended up filing for AOS for him to immigrant visa. He got his green card and then got his citizenship in 2023.

After my mom came back to naija, I filed for immigrant visa for her as I’m a citizen and It was at the NVC stage in Lagos in 2019 when I stopped processing it . All I needed is to renew and update her case every year since then so the case can be active. I write or call nvc to keep the case active. I never submitted docs needed at Lagos to schedule for interview because of some personal issues . Marriage is hard oo. Story for another day . But I didn’t want her to come then. My dad was doing whatever I would have needed help with.

The thing now is, I want to go ahead and submit all the supporting documents needed in Lagos to be able to have her scheduled for interview. What is the CURRENT WAIT TIME for this process? The only thing holding for me to submit this docs is that I am waiting for her to get a new police report .

Secondly, my dad works. He’s been working for 6 years now and pays his taxes diligently . He’s a full time worker and has his citizenship. Is it BEST for him to apply for her but that means that we will start all over again from the scratch.

Any help/input will be well appreciated.
Thank you
Good evening my people, I logged into ceac for my mom’s petition and her priority date was December 2016. Is this a good or bad thing?
Honestly I have lost touch of the process.

The AOS and IV are paid.
When is likely her interview if I continue and submit all her documents by next week ?

Thank you all who are helping

priority dates don't matter for immediate relatives

Untill NVC approves the documents you submit and NVC tells you you are documentarily complete that's when you have a DQ date.
After that they send her file to Lagos consulate.
It's is then left to Lagos consulate to set date for interview.

Once you are documentarily complete and have a DQ date then you can use the interview scheduling tool on the travel state.gov website to determine which DQ dates are currently being interviewed at Lagos consulate.

I don't think you can.

USCIS uses regular USPS , nothing like tracking. Just keep watch at the address as long as the address is where you are or ppl can keep your mails

https://egov.uscis.gov/ Enter the receipt number generated after you paid and it will inform you of the status. Either that they’ve received your payment, ordered that your card be produced, or shipped the card to you with an estimated date of arrival.

Good evening all. Please how do I track my green card?
- Visit the USCIS' “Case Status Online” tracker.
- Enter your Receipt Number.
- Click check status

See the link below
https://egov.uscis.gov/

Just for your information.
When a new immigrant enters the U.S. for the first time with an immigrant visa, the immigration officer at the POE will stamp the immigrant passport with an I-551 endorsement that serves as a temporary green card and proof of Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status, allowing the immigrant to work and reside before the physical green card arrives.

The I-551 stamp, combined with the immigrant visa in your passport, functions as a temporary green card for up to one year from the date of entry.

You can take your passport to the social security office to apply for a social security number if you don't have one yet.

If your parent that petitions for you is a US citizen and you enter the US before your 18th birthday, you are automatically a US citizen.

Your parent can take you to the passport office or the post office to apply for your US passport.

Ok. Thank you . Please how long did it take after payment for you to receive your green card.
I entered on the 22nd of November and the tracker says my card was mailed on the 6th of December so give or take 2 weeks. The important thing to note is they start counting from your date of entry if you paid before coming, or the date you paid if after. Also as someone previously mentioned, your visa stamp can serve as a temporary green card for a year.

Nice I didn't know you could check if they have sent it on their site.
I initially got a letter that I was yet to pay and details of how to pay so I paid. And I just waited.

thanks a lot man..i have my DL now..
internationalman:
Since you are not new to driving, you are good to go. All you need to do is watch out for the signs and always double check with your mirrors and look over your shoulders for blind spot (this one is the most important). Trust me, they care more about these things than your actual driving skills..

In my case I hadn't even driven before in my life. I just got here August and started practicing. I only managed to practice for few weeks. I don't think if you combine all the hours I used to practice will accumulate to 6hrs. So I was still a little bit wobbling on the road as a new driver, but they didn't mind probably because they knew you become a better driver through experience..

What they care most about is the safety measures which are the road signs and mirrors checking. They don't forgive you if you make mistakes relating to these; that's why some experienced Nigerian drivers fail it when they get here because most of those signs are not on Nigerian roads. Hell, I know one who failed his the same week I did mine.

Good luck, man.
