liveLongNprospa:Airlines(Businesses) are not run with emotions. Because people said it online, is not the reason why they increased it. It was increased because there's a traffic. Being too high is another point which I everyone can contest (As Ellexy said) There's nothing loud about it. On the 14th of December, that flight will be filled with people who paid, heading to Lagos. |

raumdeuter:To be fair, most are headline concerts so there'll be other artistes in the line-up who will perform but still the tickets are too pricey. I recall Paulo (Iyabo Ojo's husband), a show promoter saying a few years ago that Naija artistes have priced themselves away from their local fans, and this ticket prices dey shout that point. |

raumdeuter:This obsession with Obi don surpass bulaba's obsession with stealing people's childhood pictures. We’re talking about the government in power wrecking the country, and your entire brain still jumps to a man who isn’t president, isn’t in office, and isn’t responsible for a single policy affecting the masses. Face the people actually running Nigeria into the ground, not the ones living rent free in your head. |

BlueRayDick:Someone said the best shows by Naija artistes are the ones held abroad and not in Nigeria, and I agree. Abroad get well-developed Infrastructure, equipments and facilities to host those shows which bring out the best in them, and make the artistes performances thoroughly enjoyable. Burna's One Night in Space show held in MSG is his best till date and dwarfs any performance he's had in Naija. Asake's 02 arena and Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra shows will beat anything he'll ever do here. Even their ordinary live performances in late night american and UK TV shows better pass wetin dem dey do here but dem go still charge local fans wetin pass dem abroad rates. Anyways, na mature cool live music concerts like Johnny Drille Live Room me dey like attend and no be all these afrobeats gbogobo ero shows wey the artistes go come mime for stage with DJ support. |

Nigerian Air Force attack aircraft, most likely A-29 Super Tucanos conducted multiple strikes, killing scores of BHT/ISWAP fighters. The insurgents, estimated at about 300 strong, had launched a coordinated pincer assault on troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4, attempting to outflank and overrun their position at around 3 a.m. on Saturday. The troops held their ground in a fierce two hour firefight. When the terrorists failed to overrun the position, they attempted to withdraw toward the Timbuktu Triangle. But their escape route had already been identified, and NAF attack aircraft were vectored to intercept. The arrival of the jets sealed their fate. The NAF carried out multiple interdiction sorties against the fleeing fighters. The first strike hit a cluster of terrorists attempting to regroup, while follow up sorties targeted the surviving elements who scattered into the forest in a bid to escape. The ordeal was far from over for the surviving terrorists. NAF armed attack drones soon joined the fray, maintaining continuous ISR overwatch as they delivered precision strikes on the remaining fighters attempting to make a hasty retreat. Once again, the Nigerian military effectively combined intelligence, surveillance, and coordinated air ground operations to decimate terrorists attempting a surprise assault on troop positions. |

izzou:That's not how pricing works for air tickets. There's a reason it cost more to travel by air inside Canada than to travel by air from Canada to the US. Nigeria has some expensive taxes and I believe it's a lack of Nigeria also being intentional about it |

semid4lyfe:It's important to note that these guys are international artistes now. Yes they sell Nigerian product but not to the Nigerian market. I've been to a few Burna Boy shows in the UK and in Europe, and he's packing 10s of thousands every time paying a minimum of £50 which is circa 100k, and has the advantage of the tickets being reasonably priced by European standards, huge arenas and multiple dates to really rack up the funds. Concert goers abroad also don't have the typical Nigerian mentality of 'I be oga' so I need to be separate from the crowd. The Nigerian concert goer that is willing to stand with crowd in front of the stage doesn't have the kind of money form a similar chargeable crowd base, so Burna and Co cannot expect playing to a large crowd to be anywhere near profitable - so it's better for them to target their typical Diasporan customers coming for dirty December instead. It's basically a Diasporan concert set in Lagos, that typically the promoters won't even break even on. These artistes only need the a Detty December show to keep their brand and Naija credentials alive, not because it's a profitable market. I'm guessing these artistes would only consider reducing how much they charge the promoters so those ones too can see something to eat and in turn be motivated to bring crowd, but other than branding and promo, I don't see any incentive for Burna and Co to do a Lagos show. The money is just not there. |

nihilistjnr:It's simple Mathematics These guys gross an average of £60 per head in 20,000 stadium in Obodo Oyinbo = £1.2m Gross and you can assume they take 30% of Gate fee per show which is £400k They come to Naija, promoter needs the show to generate £600k with £200k left after paying the artiste to cover hotels, private jet, security, venue fees, stage and audio equipment plus generate small profit for himself. So Promoter now needs to generate N1.2bln from the show. Let's say each ticket is N200k, promoter now needs a 6,000 seater venue where everyone will pay N200k average It is still hard to find 6,000 mfkrs to pay N200k each in Naija economy but you can maybe find 3000 people willing to do such, so they will now beg the artist to halve his fee, but the N200k gate fee remains. And thus, Nigerian concert goers pay more than their Western counterparts to access Nigerian artistes. Add to this the paucity of venues that can hold large capacity (except Churches who won't allow secular artistes perform) and it's hard to bring the per Diem gate fee down for the Nigerian consumer. We are managing Godswill Akpabio 30k capacity as our major serviceable stadium but the National Stadiums in Abuja and Lagos that could bring down the per Diem cost have been mostly left to rot. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:23am On Nov 30, 2025 |
nihilistjnr:If their focus is the detty December diasporan to fill the venue, trust me they won't get enough numbers to fill the venue. How many detty December people dey come and how many of them are genuinely fans of Burna, Davido, Olamide and co that will be willing to grace their show in naija in venues that are not so so international standard like that? There are enough fun spots those ones can go that will give them full value of their money better than standing for hours to pay 250k and listen to Davido miming to a DJ mixtape. well, make I no speak for the diasporans Sha but if I was in their shoes I won't really fancy those shows like that. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 3:51am On Nov 30, 2025 |
A40:Exactly! It's only when these Naija artistes do international shows abroad they try to get a standard backup group like the compozers backing up live for Burna on stage. When tbey come to naija they will have the DJ playing already mastered mixtape which the DJ cuts at intervals to allow fans sing along. I will not pay such steep price ticket only to be subjected to that same level of performance lailai. I will rather go to one of the beautiful nubia shows at GRA ikeja or go to any night spot where they have live band. |

Yeah, my friend who grew in Iwaya told me the one around Onike too has always been bubbly right from his childhood. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by semid4lyfe(m): 4:20am On Nov 30, 2025 |
nihilistjnr:£50 - £60 for a UK concert makes sense because the UK minimum wage is around £12 per hour. A person can work five hours and buy Burna's concert ticket without shaking because the ticket is proportional to his earning power Now compare that to Naija where the minimum wage is 70k, and only about 2.4% of Nigerians earn above N200k per month, and you'd realize the N250k pricing is disproportionate and in misalignment with the Nigerian economy and reality of most Nigerians. If one follows the UK proportionality logic and applies it to Naija, tickets no suppose pass 10k but nobody realistically expects the promoters to drop the tickets to that level because pricing in itself is a form of crowd control and a way to filter the audience but 30k or thereabout for standing tickets would still have made economic sense. The show is for diasporan returnees and detty december crowd angle too no make sense because those guys cannot fill even the 6000 capacity Eko Convention Centre on their own. Their numbers no reach. For the venues to be filled to capacity, you'll need the home-based Nigerians. And when the shows are priced like luxury goods, the home audience automatically gets locked out. Then promoters go turn around and say Lagos no dey profitable. How will it be profitable when the core market wey fit fill the venue no even fit dream of affording entry? It's okay for artistes to go global. But if dem wan do their December homecoming concerts, the pricing should reflect the economic reality of the home base OR Make dem no kuku do december shows for Naija at all. Nobody go vex, and life will continue. |
