Now after understanding animal cruelty and also growing human conscience, I, now see such acts as barbaric...

Also grabbing, the fowl by it feathers while on a bike through the long road to the house or on it's legs and placing them upside down

Nothing barbaric about killing a chicken for food...

It's barbaric to kill a chicken but not barbaric to eat it?

If you are serious about this then you can be a vegetarian before I take you seriously... even vegetable has life sef!

If you see slaughtering of a chicken as animal cruelty and barbaric, then you and your family should stop eating chicken and any type of meat entirely.

This cracked me up with laughter as I heard in my head my mother's voice as she puts the knife in my 8 year old hand and says, "I guess its barbaric to feed you, but kill the damn chicken so I can feed your younger siblings!"

This generation of children are so lucky they can just go to the supermarket.

Barbaric That’s your personal opinion and we respect it. But to your question?? There’s no harm in killing hen in front of your kids. A lot of us watched our parents kill hens while growing up and there’s no psychological, emotional or even any effect to our ‘conscience’. You’re the one reading meaning into something that little.

I grew up watching people kill animals, and I always felt pity for them but will still eat the meat because of my love for meat.

However, I don't think it's a good idea to kill animals in front of kids. Children are wired differently, and there is no limit to what they can do. An evil child may pick up a knife one day just to teach his baby sis or bro a lesson. If you know what I mean.

One of our camper, a guinea guy, crossed the fence into the next compound ND stole chicken .. the old couple HV like 10k birds of poultry farm... They saw him taking it instead ran inside locked themselves up for fear of being attacked and called the police on the camp.. this happened in the afternoon..

When the police arrived, a male and a female office.. usually, they are always make and female office.. they were led by the complainant ND the camp officers into our cabin....

When they entered was exactly the time the guinea guy was slashing the throat of the chicken, the water is boiling and we are waiting for the meat..

Immidiately they got a sign of the slaughtering, the female police office fell down and fainted.. ambulance was called in..

The male officer questioned us but admitted the case as one of ignorance as he believes in Africa we go about catching fowl anyhow to kill and eat.. he imported us to stop the habbit, that WalMart sell already slaughtered foul.. that his patner has never seek a foul or any animal being slaughtered live.. so sh couldn't take it ND it will have a long psychological effects on her..

See, there are ppl we know as butchers, not everyone should handle killing... Knife to the throat is not what kids should be exposed to.. it's really appalling hearing u guyz support such because according to u ppl's argument, ur parents did it.

Now who told u guys that all ur parents training proceedures are correct?

i remember one possessed fowl the neck was slit but the FM refuse to give up, since then i never ate anything that i am the one that killed it i got so mad i had to cut off the head, i was a kid though

If the animal is not killed, how will it get into your stomach? Gathering to see the animal getting killed was a wonderful experience during my childhood. I will not deny my lineage the opportunity.

SMH. You grew up watching animals get slaughtered. How come you never picked up a knife to “teach your bro or sis a lesson?”

Secondly, seeing animals getting slaughtered affected me emotionally, but not negatively. Your assertion that it won't affect the average child is not true because it is the average child that always grow up to become a murderous adult.

Thirdly, in most homes in Nigeria, you will find at least one cultist, and one of their penchants is slaughtering humans they way they do to animals.

If you think their childhood experience of watching animals being slaughtered has no influence on their present behaviours, then human psychology is definitely not your thing.

Go and read about social behaviours and pay attention to the concept of 'desensitization' and Albert Bandura's 'Social Learning Theory'. Then you will understand why people behave the way they do.

. Killing animals has always been barbaric. I was not comfortable with the sight as a child. So, I would rather that it not be done in front of kids— let them choose whether to watch or not.

A child might not experience any form of killing in his lifetime and still go on to become a serial killer.
