Most people on this forum are big disgrace to educated.

They actually don't read....they just comment without even understanding.

The person granted asylum is the opposition leader, most of them think is the president that is being accused of planning the coup.
It's shocking I must say.

Of all the safe neighboring countries in Africa, he chose Nigeria.

Maybe he has a lot in common with the leadership of Nigeria.
try to read before commenting. He is still inside the country, he is in our Embassy there

He doesn't deserve it. He was involved in the coup
You are making a comment on what you don't have a clue about. How is the opposition involved in the coup.

That's what you understand from the write up? ... that he chose Nigeria? BTW .... is he in Nigeria?

I'm not sure what is with too many of us posting comments .... not sure if we read headlines only ... guess the details then rush to comment .... or we simply lack basic comprehension skills. But I'm almost sure we can present certificates and degrees.

@ topic ... Ok .... he's held up in the embassy.... what's the next move? And how does granting refuge to him "falls squarely into Nigeria's sovereign responsibility?" How? With the level of insecurity in the country getting worse ... no mention of sovereign responsibility. I strongly believe certain people need to be stoned ...it would be better for us all.

He should remain at the Embassy o and not move around carelessly before bandits get hold of him, and we begin to look for ransom to pay and rescue him!

Judging from the comments, it’s obvious many people either read without understanding or don’t bother to read before commenting. It clearly reflects the shallow intellectual depth of the majority on this forum. Engaging such people in meaningful or intelligent discussion is simply pointless.

I would have loved to see my Nigeria using the NIA the way the USA uses the CIA to have influence in Africa, gathering intelligence and using the intelligence to influence governments in Africa to her own advantage and benefit.

But sadly, they can’t even gather intelligence on bandits and Fulani militias in their own country.

This country should have been a force to lead Africa, but sadly……..

Remember that Charles Taylor was granted asylum in Nigeria in 2003 and was extradited in 2006 back to Liberia to carry his own cross.
You better RUN!!!!!!!

We really have a reading problem in this country. It is the opposition presidential candidate that was granted asylum.

That is because we have some naive northern leaders who believed in using their fellow fula from other countries to dominate Nigeria, instead of using Nigeria power to dominate Africa.

I think we should apply Lee Kaun Yee method, never to allow unintelligent people near government power

Back to the Topic,
it is a good idea to Keep the presidential candidate Fernando Dia in Nigeria Embassy in Guinea-BIssau itself forever. In the event of Assault on the embassy to forcefully take him is an act or war on Nigeria and excuse for ECOWAS intervention force to enter the country and restore other. Like it or not Military intervention will be applied, Guinea-BIssau has on 4,000 active army and will be overrun by the ECOWAS intervention force. I see Yahaya Jame treatment loading.

What does Nigeria gain from seeking to dominate in Afrika?
Shouldn't the goal be to seek peace and prosperity in Afrika?
Finally, what happens when all these nations in Afrika rebel against Nigeria hegemony and decide to coordinate a counter to Nigeria power - can Nigeria stand the blow-back and consequences of their action?

There are terrorists roaming freely all-across Afrika especially West Afrika for over 10 years killing everyday citizens and yet ECOWAS intervention force hasn't been mobilised to stop this atrocities - before an intervention against Guinea-BIssau 4,000 active army - ECOWAS intervention force must be used to finally wipe out the terrorists who are waging war on Nigerians and fuelling insecurity across ECOWAS bloc
