Don't mind him. Left to me though a salary of N1.2mln for a Professor in Nigeria of today is ok.

For a lecturer just startiing out, 500k is okay.

So 900k per month isn't okay? Nursery or elementary school teachers that are helping our kids in their early stage of scribbling, writing, reading, observations and assertiveness are much more valuable than some professors in our higher institutions.

Very good development, our youths need to be in school. Not many could afford sending their children to UK and Europe for studies, the small education that the poor are getting from our public school shouldn't be denied

Someone, most obviously a lecturer himself, tells you the current earning of a high rank professor, you then argue.

You don’t argue because you know otherwise, but because you think otherwise.

If they ask you to talk about what you know as in how much Professors earn in Nigeria, you will start saying “I heard about a Professor that is calling one million.”

The boy is most obviously someone who doesn’t even know what a Professor is.

Obviously he has never been to the university before that is why he somehow thinks in his head that the big name “professor” equates to big money. The same thing with these two osatech poly graduates under that somehow think that a professor equates to a politician with cars and housing that is just dissatisfied with being lower than a politician.

Why do you want them to be paid an amount equivalent to $10k? This is Nigeria, not the U.S.

No Nigerian professor deserves more than 1m naira monthly. What do they do except lazying around and misusing research grants? Has there been any groundbreaking research by Nigerian profs in recent years? That prof is just an unnecessary title in Nigeria.

Why would someone be comparing a lecturer's salary living in naira by dollars??
Lectures that wants to earn in dollars or its equivalent should go to abroad.

Many of those lecturers are in the same league with the politicians you refer to. If the lecturers were doing well, our industries will do better and they, the lecturers, will do better. Many of those lecturers are devils in schools, a true reflection of the evil we see in our society today. How many innovative businesses are emerging from our higher institutions today? Almost NOTHING!
The same professors that people are clamoring for now rigged some of these politicians in.

My solution, let all universities establish research clusters around the areas of strength of the state or locale they belong to, meet with the available industries there, source for external funding, where not available locally and solve real issues. Businesses will come, jobs will come, more money will come to the lecturers as well and the nation will do great.

In my view, all these perennial industrial actions won’t take ASUU, the FG or the nation anywhere! Let’s all get to work as a people and stop all these shenanigans.

No professor earns even up to that after tax and other deductions. Do your findings before jumping into a conversation.
