Sanwo-Olu's Aide Faults NPA Port Shift

The Lagos State government has criticised the Nigerian Ports Authority for its decision to shift operational focus from Lagos ports to the Warri Port Complex, arguing that the problem lies in the authority’s policy flaws rather than Lagos ports themselves. Adekoya Hassan, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation and Logistics, stated that while the governor has shown unwavering dedication to addressing port congestion, the NPA’s policies remain a significant obstacle to achieving seamless cargo movement within the Apapa Port corridor.

You have a very sharp mind.

Supporting port development elsewhere is, in fact, a very sound strategy for Nigeria. Decentralization would not diminish Lagos's relevance but would enhance national capacity, reduce catastrophic congestion, create thousands of jobs across multiple regions, and ultimately increase total port throughput and economic activity by attracting new business and investment that the current overburdened system discourages. A functional multi port system would strengthen, not weaken, Nigeria's overall maritime economy.

They are afraid of losing that protected status.
They know that we know that the whole Lagos state is based on port revenue.
Unfortunately (for them), or rather fortunately, other states have developed means to create revenue for themselves, no matter how meager it is.
But they (Lagos) keep saying that other states are unproductive. Not because they are a value creation state, but simply because of the port and the industries or businesses that depend on and have to set up around the port.

Take away the port status from Lagos, and even Ekiti will be far better.

You don’t want a shift in ports so that the “go back to your place” agenda being clamoured for by MC Oluomo and his family members can be actualized.

Any reasonable government should relocate national assets and their headquarters across the 36 states so that everyone feels a true sense of inclusion. Military formations and all security agencies should also be equitably represented across the country. As long as these things are not implemented, people will continue to feel marginalized, they will agitate, and those agitations will be hijacked by criminals.

Sometimes, we Southerners are quick to blame the North, while the main evil is actually within us in the South.

One thing you can’t take away from the North is their unity. But for us in the South, when it was time for power to rotate to another region within the South, that is when a region suddenly coined “Awalokan.”

When they finally get what they bargained for, they now run back to their southern brothers and sisters for support.

It's very evident the North is now playing the same script they played against Jonathan on Tinubu but due to Tinubu's greed for power, he isn't getting any iota of pity from the South because he was part of those that messed up Jonathan's Government.

Don't be naive. This is pure propaganda to make you believe that Tinubu's government is building something in the South South or South East.
They are not moving anything to Warri. This is a high level game of propaganda to deceive many in that region.

They are rather enjoying the attention of Lagos congestion but they will still act otherwise. They are scared of loosing their Lagos relevancy.

So much for one Nigeria! Is Lagos the only state with ports in Nigeria? We have Calabar, Delta )Warri and Sapele ports), we have Rivers. All these other ports have suffered neglect due to the concentration on Lagos until they started having serious congestion issues, but still, they don’t want to allow those other ports come back to life.

Warri people will use matching ground, our land and all sought of local extortion to chase importers 🤷🏿.
That's how the prospering industries died down and others relocated from that city 🤷🏿.

This is the only opportunity Lagos government and Oluomo boys have to truly see Igbos out of Lagos and they are here crying. They are enjoying oil from the SS but don't want SS to grow. They knew that the reason Igbos and businesses and industry are in Lagos is because of seaport. They should stop crying and support this seaport in PH so Igbos should leave their state for them!
