thanks, for the affidavit, I do have that, submitted alongside the application and the other by the parent is being worked on, likewise the name declaration.

Are you saying, everyone who's gotten the opportunity card had a reference from germany?
I wouldn't know everyone who got opportunity card visa. But my advice to you is to get a reference in german, as the embassy need someone in Germany whom they can reach if you have any issue. anybody can be your reference. Brother, friends etc

thanks for your response, they're asking I upload their resident permit, doesn't make any sense to ask that when i never stated i knew anyone there.

Who is the person you used as a reference in your VIDEX form? If the person is in Germany, you need to provide their residence permit before you can pass the preliminary review. If not, you should change it to an organization.

My case was a bit different. I got stuck at the preliminary/document check stage because I replied through the portal, thinking my message would go through in real time, but it didn’t. I reached out to explain my situation the same day my application was cancelled.

In your case, since it’s been about three months, they might ask you to start over but still try calling and emailing. Consistent follow-up helped me get mine resolved.

backoffice@lago.auswaertiges-amt.de and any email or pone numbers you can find on their website

Goodluck!
good day, I’m having a bit of an issue at the preliminary stage. I uploaded my primary, secondary and university certificates, and after a week they said I needed to send the correct documents. I’m a bit confused

My brother you are not specific with your problem. But let me advice: On the portal there are two places you upload your school document. 1: School reports and 2: University degree. You are mean't to upload the following documents under the respective places as indicated below.

School report: FSLC, WAEC, NECO (Combine these documents in one pdf and upload here)
University degree: University Degree Certificate and Your degree Transcript (Combine the two documents in one pdf and upload here)

My boss, in the US. That's why I am confused as to why, I am being asked to upload a PR document for someone in Germany.

I also sent a message asking for clarification via the portal, I just saw someone here mentioned theirs didn't go through, anyone else who's experienced this?

I think the fault was actually from me. They were only asking me to update, and put a supporting document, which I’ve done now. I really appreciate. Thank you.

Hey, please do you know if the FSLC has to be the one from the state Ministry of Education or if the certificate from your school will suffice? What did you submit in your case ?

I submitted my application on ending June, and we are currently on preliminary review stage for over a month now, making corrections.

Please did anyone in July get to the preliminary stage already? Please if there's anyone, kindly signify. So, we can track the month they are currently processing. Thanks.

Did mine 23rd of October. Still no response from them yet and I didn't even apply from Nigeria. It's December already and I'm sure they will soon go for Christmas holiday break.

Hi
I went for interview on the 5th of November, but after the recent website upgrade I see "Action Required" and below it I see "Appointment required"
Do I ignore it or should I book a second appointment.

Hello everyone,

Please does anyone have information regarding using Edubao for Blocked Account purpose, or any assistance as to getting a Blocked account would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question, as I haven't even gotten to preliminary review stage. Hopefully, someone who has gone past this stage responds to your message ASAP.

Please when did you join the queue?

LoL... I believe people who joined the queue a year ago have already completed all stages, and are either in Germany or somewhere else (based on rejection).
I'm confused. How come you are still at this stage?

Not much. But they made a new update to the website and also some consent you have to approve. So if you havent logged in inawhile then i suggest you do that
Hey Bro, did you finally get past the preliminary review stage?
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by ZiggyZiggy: 2:15pm On Dec 03, 2025
I thought it was only the Lagos consulate that was experiencing this delay

Where did you apply from?

not sure I understand what you're trying to insinuate.

I still need help with my inquiry pls, I have sent emails to the consulate and no response yet. I am being required to submit the PR document of someone in Germany, I didn't add anyone from germany as a reference.
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 4:36pm On Dec 03, 2025
No bro. At this point i dont think anything is going to happen till next year because of christmas holiday. Again some of us might get cleared as they might rush some stuff before christmas.

The german government is very slow with everything related to immigration, when i was living there it was the same. Especially during peak busy months from september to december. Everything should be faster after january though

Please, have they gotten to July for the preliminary review, or please, which month are they now? I am August and I just want to use the info for my guide
Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 4:52pm On Dec 03, 2025
As far as i can tell. Preliminary review is still in ending april up to june. So most people have submitted their documents and still waiting for interview. Preliminary review wait time is currently 4-8 weeks, with corrections it could be more.

Note: some people somehow get interviews even if they applied later than some others, i dont know how this works but it could either be those people dont remember when they joined the waiting list or the people handling their cases are faster? Who knows lol

You need a reference who is a legal resident or a citizen of Germany, there's really no way around it (at least so far).

If the feedback appeared in the Documents section, they should also give the same feedback in the Reference Form section. That way, you can update your original reference to someone in Germany and also upload their document.

But if that's not your situation and they only requested an upload in the Documents section, the safest thing to do is create one file that includes all the reference details normally asked for in the reference form. Fill it with the new German reference’s information, attach their document, and upload everything together as a single file. In that same file, explain that you cannot access the reference form section to update the reference you submitted earlier.

PS: This is just how I'd approach it if I were you, so ultimately do your own research and decide what's best to do. If you keep waiting for an email response from them, the time they gave you for the preliminary feedback correction might elapse, and they'll delete your application.

Wow, German bureaucracy is something else

As far as I know, no one who had their appointment from September up to now has received a response, but fingers crossed, let's see what happens between now and December 23rd (This is when the Lagos consulate said they close for the year)

Thanks for the feedback, I can still access the reference form section. I'd just change the reference section to org/education {apartment address}, that way I can fill out some of the info requested. I don't know anyone in germany, not even sure someone would give me their PR document just like that to upload.

They didn't give me the feedback in the document section, it was clearly stated there who the reference was and where they are based.

Hi Femiscot,

I did my interview very early November, but after the recent website upgrade, when I log in, I see a notification that says 'Action Required' and at the bottom of the page I see 'Appointment required'. I have not received any email from the consular office since the interview as well. Pls see attached image.

Not sure if I should ignore it or book another appointment.
Does this appear on the portal when you log in?.

Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Adelawal2011: 1:37pm On Dec 04, 2025
Check your email inbox and spam to see if the asked you to come for another interview? because I was asked to come for a second interview after 3 weeks of my first interview, the sent me an email and I saw it on my spam, but that was before the website upgrade.

If they didnt send you any email, then you don't need to do anything. don't book another appointment. your portal will soon change to 'decision pending'.

Meanwhile what was it showing before the upgrade after your interview?
