Breaking News: Masquerade David Effiong Appears in Court for Public Disorder Charges

Masquerade David Effiong has arrived in court to face charges of causing public disorder.

He was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Tuesday, 2 December 2025.

The suspect, Akwa Ibom’s most popular masquerade is currently at the Magistrate Court on Fulga Road, Uyo, where he will be presented before the law.

I like the way he appeared with his full "Costume" and even the cutlass held by the officer as an exhibit. Their excesses need to be put in check. The way they flog and pursue people around as if those ones owe them is annoying.

He should have gone to court as a masquerade with full regalia because it was the masquerade that was charged to court and not David.
You cannot arrest masquerade and charge David to court. These are different people. Let the gods answer for themselves.

Misplaced piority by the Governor and the police. I have been seeing something like masquerade all over the world. Instead of them to handle terrorism, they are chasing what is not. Useless people making Nigeria more useless.
