Didn’t I tell you guys that this government will take credit for reduced inflation due to low purchasing power?

givedemwotowoto:
When economic activity slows down, inflation naturally will drop. It happened in the US towards the end of Trump’s presidency due to slow economic activity resulting from Covid.

With the high cost of living and extreme hardship in Nigeria, economic activity is beginning to slow down.

Inflation is expected to drop, and we all know that this government will use it as propaganda to try to create the impression that their policies are working

Notice the recent drop in import export? Traders are slowing down imports because retailers are struggling to restock and demand is dropping from consumers, but this government is already using this concerning trend for propaganda

Bunch of propagandists!

Even tinubu said , sey na statistics will go chop

Minimum wage is 70k, even a single person cannot live fairly with 70k salary a month

How many work places in nigeria can offer 100k for start

How much is spent to fuel a car in a month

Living standards is bellow living

You people are sick

Throwing raw statistics at us without characterization only gives a spurious picture of economic improvement.

You have hidden the fact that those good indices are propelled by the REBASEMENT done by the NBS this year.

For real figures, experts like Rewane and Uwaleke have adduced adding 10 to the figures you copiously referenced.

However, the monetary policy team headed by Cardoso is doing a yeoman's job at reining in headline inflation and setting the nation on the path to economic recovery and currency stability.

The fiscal side seems to be the clog in the wheel of progress as the continuous unrestrained borrowing spree of this government tend to erode the gains of the monetary policies.
You write intelligently and knowledgeably.
How can learn to write like this please?

Why omit the RED of humongous growth in debt that is more than the concocted green statistics above?

If the economy is green with these APC progreThief numbers, then what colour was the economy when deregulation and privatisation PDP capitalists gave us 16 years of widespread prosperity huh

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

Lol, measuring Tinubu against Tinubu .LOL.
How convenient.
Completely decimates the economy, makes a few cosmetic improvement here and there and then hires soulless animals to sing his own praises .
Absolute ludicrous ..

One would think a sensible measure of performance would entail a comparison of the country and economy before you took over and now .

How does these statistics translate to cheaper bag of rice or Cement, or even a kilo of frozen meat in the market?

Are Nigerians smiling now than last year? Your statistics is as good as a used tissue paper if the common man on the street cannot feel the positive impact. More work and more work needs to be done and not by flashing numbers in the form of propaganda on the internet.

Statisense is runed by APC machines.

Stop looking for achievements where the is none.

For inflation rates, they were basically just rebased.
Is that not normal practice? Was the previous rate not at one time also rebased? Does rebasing the inflation rate, necessarily mean inflation must automatically come down? Can't it also trend upwards regardless of rebasing?

Some criticisms make no sense.

I totally agreed, it is reflecting in our markets. Bag of big bull rice is now sold for 60k. This is a gradual process. More work for the president and his team. Opposition wants to use artificial security spoil the good of our beloved president.

Propaganda and lies as usual. Take a trip to the market with a hundred thousand and know if you can buy anything meaningful. Until he takes the dollar back to where he met it and takes thee fuel prices where he met them everything they are saying is just rubbish meant to deceive their unthinking followers.

Why would you agree that economy is green abroad but refuse that Nigeria own is getting green despite the verifiable statistics ?.

Look at these pictures, this was Boston in the US. Will you still say US economy is not strong despite these pictures?

What sayest thou afterwards grin grin cheesy cheesy

Exchange rate was $1- 150 Naira, before Arewa people's congress APC took over.
And you expect Nigeria to continue on that path where the Federal Government was subsidising every dollar.

Yet, you would be asking the Government to provide infrastructure and make Nigeria to look like Dubai overnight.

I agree with the wise man who says "Ignorant people are the most difficult entity to govern"

Exchange rate was one dollar to less than 2 naira when shagari the northerner was in charge

Shey we should bring him back to power?

Also, maintaing that 150 naira contributed to the debt that still haunts us today and nearly drained our forex reserves.

The reason why naira is not strong is because all your leaders have been running a resource dependent economy. Including apc and pdp.
