You that speak and write fluently, you should be ashamed of yourself for insulting instead of correcting someone who's has only been to her village once in her lifetime, grew up in Lagos and lives in Benin.
Na for this online you get mouth. The reason most of us don't want to identify with the tribe because of people like you but e no concern me as I'm proud of my heritage.

You're funny
I'm from Mbak-atai itam, in Itu LG. My maiden name rings a bell. What has the state done for me as a person?
You're irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Where's your evidence of me being an igbo person? Small data you manage sub, you think everyone is a ragtag here to engage anyhow.

I’m not interested in what happened to your friend some years back. I’ve seen pasture and imams committing crimes and I won’t because of that advocate for police to indiscriminately arrest all pastors and imams. So I ask again, what exact crime did the masquerade commit before he was arrested?
I don't know what masquerades do where you are, but over here in Akwa Ibom they always harass people especially ladies. They do it for money. The cases of theft I mentioned are also common. But the harassment/extortion with the aid of machetes is enough. I still believe that also qualifies as robbery. That is what masquerades are usually known for and the past 3 govt administrations in Akwa Ibom have been banning them. Do you think its a coincidence? I just read from someone who quoted me on this thread that one harassed a lady and she got knocked down by a car while trying to run away from a masquerade. The lady died and its what led to the recent ban.

Around an area I used to live in the past it was always a recurring occurrence of masquerades injuring someone with machete, sometimes to death, then they'll run away and never show up for the rest of the season till the next year where there will be another incidence and they'll disappear again. All these incidences are based on trying to extort people while threatening with a machete. Those who don't cooperate are injured.

The generality of people here don't like them because of their atrocities. When they were first banned years ago, people came out in numbers to stone them.

I don't understand why people will quote me to compare masquerades that forcefully take money from people at machete point (sometimes even gun point) to pastors who receive money from people on free will

The real problem isn’t democracy — it’s the politicians we elect, who still fail despite being bound by the law. Calling in military men who know nothing about the law only proves the system isn’t the issue; the people in charge are. Handing power to soldiers isn’t a solution, because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
SisterAnn:
Oga calm down. If the politicians were up and doing, there won't be any need to ask soldiers to scatter them.
It doesn't mean I personally support military take over. But politicians can do better.

Reduce their looting and uphold the tenets of the offices entrusted to them.
