As an ijebu person from Lagos State. I would say his popularity in music has no relevance to the sacred seat of awujale.
This is not a Lagos Island throne that thrives on 90% politics.
His closeness to Tinubu is a disadvantage, last I check Tinubu is not an ijebu man and has done little or nothing to promote ijebu in Lagos.
So that doesn't count at all. We would want an ijebu for ijebu thing. Not politically influenced arrogant fellow.. they'll better pick someone who is more sacred in his beliefs and ways of doing things. Or chose whoever IFA granted

There is nothing like crown prince in most parts of Yorubaland. Kingship is rotated among different ruling families. Here is not England: we have our own way of doing things.

In my own opinion, a young learned with good exposure, connection, administrative should be the next Awujale. The cultural heritage of Ijebu-ode expecially, "Ojude Oba Festival " need to be preserved. It one of most colourful, with diginities attendance, well broadcasted Yoruba cultural event

Why don't you just lay out the rule or method since you've read wide and know it. It would have been a better response to counter my comment rather than this lamenting comment you gave. What you wrote there raise no point.

Method or no method. Rule or no rule. The known fact about how power is ascended in a Royal or hierarchy is by bloodlines. The countries I mentioned have their own methods too and it's still fall under the bloodline, the next in line.
