Cletus Ibeto Opens Private Owned Ibeto Port In Port Harcourt by Ofodirinwa(op):
Ibeto Seaport Terminal in Port Harcourt is a modern multi-purpose facility with infrastructure including large warehouses, logistics hubs, and marine services. Equipment features advanced handling tools for 24/7 operations on bulk and container cargo. Architecture optimizes loading/unloading to reduce congestion and speed vessel turnaround.

Business model: Private independent operator offering terminal ops, clearing, warehousing, door-to-door delivery, and shipping agency services.

Operational status (2025): Fully functional, handling imports/exports; generated ~₦4.24B revenue in recent months; recent berthings and authority visits confirm activity.

As alternative to Apapa for Aba/Onitsha importers: Yes, viable due to proximity (cuts ~500km road haul from Lagos), container handling, and barge links to Onitsha. Current use: Primarily bulk cargo, containers, general trade.

Other alternatives: Onitsha River Port (inland barging), Calabar Port, Warri Port.

How can they stop it? Some ships will patronize the place and customs personnel will be stationed there

All you need to do is to direct all containers to this port. They call it port of destination and its determined by the importer

Lol
Federal government under the APC will use added charges to discourage shippers. Place more charges on freights and make Lagos ports cheaper as usual..

As Stakeholders Applaud Comptroller Abubakar

he Nigeria Customs Service Area 5 Ibeto Command, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said it generated more than N4 billion in less than three months of operation.

The command’s pioneer Comptroller, Martha Abubakar, disclosed the figure while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

Ms Abubakar attributed the command’s achievements to smooth stakeholders and interagency collaboration.

This is the way to go but I'm sure certain people from a particular region will not like this news. Just that NPA mentioned that they were going to decentralize some activities and divert it to Warri refinery,Lagos state officials have been wailing and crying since days
Shebi they said people should go back to their region and leave their Lagos for them, this is just the beginning, they have not seen anything yet.

You speak out ignorance and illiteracy. You are really out of tune to what is going -on. Federal government is inviting private individuals to participate in all sectors of our economy ranging from oi and gas, even road and railway construction and ports so also to ensure efficiency.

Ndiigbo need a wide net of public and private ports. I never thought of this idea because but Ibeato has done something revolutionary. When they said Igbo ppl can't have airports we built our own. Power plant, we built our own, Refineries, we built our own, now ports.

Hopefully someone with money looks like to Azumini in Abia, waiting for government = one chance. I live in the US and every state has 2-5 ports.
New York State alone has 10 port districts. With the way Nigeria's hateful idiotic system is, you will think something like airports and ports are nuclear reactors that are not easy to build and common to open.

That can be true for maybe a few items. Can't be all. Then it is possible to resist such a policy
