COAS VISITS BORNO, CHARGES TROOPS TO SUSTAIN VIGILANCE, AGGRESSIVE POSTURE The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to sustain vigilance, avoid complacency, and maintain aggressive posture in ongoing operations against terrorists in the North East. General Shaibu gave the charge during an operational assessment visit to Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (JTF NE OPHK) in Maiduguri. The visit was aimed at assessing the security situation, evaluating operational effectiveness, strengthening strategic alignment, and enhancing collaboration with security stakeholders to address prevailing threats in the region. Addressing personnel, the COAS commended their gallantry and resilience in confronting terrorist elements, urging them to remain steadfast and maintain maximum situational awareness to forestall emerging threats. He emphasised the need for continued operational aggressiveness to deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre. General Shaibu also engaged officers of the theatre command, where he stressed the importance of close supervision, effective coordination, robust intelligence gathering, and improved operational posture to sustain ongoing successes under Operation HADIN KAI. Earlier, the Theatre Commander JTF NE OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, briefed the COAS on current operational activities, achievements, and challenges within the theatre. As part of the visit, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, paid a courtesy call on the COAS. Governor Zulum congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing it as well deserved. He noted that General Shaibu, having held all major operational command appointments in the theatre, had made significant contributions to the drastic reduction of insurgency in the region. Governor Zulum expressed optimism that the COAS would consolidate ongoing efforts to decimate the remnants of insurgents and restore lasting peace and stability to Borno State and the broader North East. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the government and people of Borno State to continued collaboration with the Nigerian Military and other security stakeholders in the overall interest of the state, the region, and the country. While acknowledging the remarkable progress recorded by OPHK troops, the Governor urged them not to be deterred by isolated security incidents in parts of the state, but to remain focused and resolute. In his response, the COAS thanked Governor Zulum for the visit and lauded the sustained cooperation between the state government and OPHK. He assured the Governor that the Nigerian Army remains committed to intensifying efforts to restore enduring peace and normalcy to Borno State and the entire North East. NAF DELIVERS DEVASTATING PRECISION STRIKE ON TERRORIST ENCLAVE IN SAMBISA The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff, has achieved another major breakthrough in the ongoing counterterrorism operations with a precision Air Interdiction (AI) mission conducted on 19 November 2025 at ARRA, a notorious terrorist hideout within the Sambisa general area. The Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI initiated the attack following series of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions that tracked terrorist movements following the 17 October ambush on ground troops at KASHOMRI. Persistent ISR coverage over KASHOMRI and Sambisa revealed suspicious activities and active terrorist structures at ARRA, prompting a deliberate, intelligence-driven strike. NAF air assets acquired and engaged designated objectives through coordinated, successive passes. The strike achieved its intended effect with the complete destruction of all identified targets, significantly degrading the terrorists’ operational capabilities and disrupting their command and logistics networks. This successful mission underscores the NAF’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation, supporting ground forces, and sustaining relentless pressure on terrorist elements across all theatres of operation. The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in its mission to neutralize threats, defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity, and secure enduring peace for all citizens. FINALLY THE F.G. HAS NOT BANNED OPEN GRAZING - LIVESTOCK MINISTER The Federal Government has debunked reports circulating in some media outlets claiming that open grazing has been banned nationwide. The Ministry of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, clarified on Tuesday 25th November 2025, that no such policy has been announced, and that the government is instead implementing a gradual, well-structured transition from open grazing to modern ranching systems. He explained that Nigeria currently has 273 gazetted grazing reserves covering over 4.5 million hectares, and the Federal Government is working closely with state governments to revitalise, equip, and make these reserves conducive for pastoralists and other livestock operators. Mukhtar noted that the transition plan does not abolish open grazing overnight but provides viable alternatives that support productivity, reduce conflicts, and promote a sustainable livestock ecosystem. According to him, “Pastoralists, like every other economic group, require a structured business environment. The grazing reserves provided by law are meant to serve as business premises for all livestock activities. Our responsibility is to upgrade these reserves and facilitate their proper utilisation.” The Ministry urged the public to disregard misleading reports and rely on official government communication channels for accurate information on livestock development policies. |

NAF DELIVERS PRECISION AIRSTRIKES, CRUSHES TERROR CELLS IN KATSINA AND HALTS ISWAP OFFENSIVE IN CHIBOK The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its precision counterterrorism operations across the North-West and North-East, delivering devastating, intelligence-driven air interdictions that dismantled terror cells and neutralised scores of fleeing insurgents. In Katsina State, NAF aircraft executed two coordinated strikes on 27 November 2025 under OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) Sector 2. The first strike, launched at about 0630 hours, targeted the fortified base of a notorious terrorist kingpin linked to serial kidnappings, violent attacks and livestock rustling across Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi LGAs. Guided by real-time Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), the aircraft destroyed the camp with precision munitions, while persistent ISR enabled follow-on engagements as surviving fighters attempted to flee. A second strike at about 1755 hours hit another major terrorist enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, destroying logistics hubs, structures, equipment and operational infrastructure. Several terrorists were neutralised, further degrading their networks and denying them safe havens across the North-West. In Borno State, NAF air power again proved decisive as ground troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 4 OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK) repelled a coordinated multi-front ISWAP/Boko Haram attack on Chibok. NAF aircraft conducted four major strikes, guided by real-time intelligence from ground forces, against regrouping insurgents along their escape route, inflicting significant losses. Additional precision strikes on fleeing fighters further disrupted their withdrawal and shattered their ability to reorganise. The integrated air–ground response ensured the terrorists suffered substantial casualties while protecting the community and preventing a resurgence of the offensive. These operations underscore the NAF’s unwavering commitment to precise, surgical engagements aimed at neutralising threats, restoring security, and safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens, with the assurance and resolve to continue collaborating with ground forces and other security agencies to restore peace to every part of the country. Odunayaw:NAF ALPHA JET PILOTS DISPLAY COURAGE AND PROFESSIONALISM DURING POST-INSPECTION TEST FLIGHT EMERGENCY The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commends the exceptional bravery and professionalism of its Alpha Jet pilots who safely ejected following an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection functional check flight on 6 December 2025, at Nigerian Air Force Base Kainji. Shortly after take-off, the aircraft developed an emergency, prompting the pilots to act swiftly and with remarkable composure. They expertly manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before executing a safe ejection. The crew is currently undergoing routine medical evaluation. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has praised the pilots for their courage, discipline and sound judgement, which prevented loss of life. He has also directed the immediate constitution of a Board of Inquiry to investigate the incident. The NAF further acknowledges the prompt, coordinated and highly professional response of its personnel, including Search and Rescue teams, Fire and Crash Response units, and medical practitioners, who swiftly secured the area and ensured the safety and wellbeing of the aircrew. Their dedication, teamwork and sacrifice reflect the unwavering commitment to service that the NAF is known for. This incident also underscores the inherent risks associated with aviation operations, particularly in military environments where airpower projection demands increased flying activities, complex missions and sustained readiness. It serves as a reminder of the courage and devotion to duty exhibited daily by NAF personnel who willingly operate in high-risk conditions to secure the nation. These men and women, through their relentless sacrifice and professionalism, deserve the utmost honour and respect. The Nigerian Air Force reassures the public of its steadfast adherence to stringent safety standards and operational excellence.
