advanceDNA:At 16, my friends and I were sexually active. We were adolescents with the sexual energy of men. Some decided to use it and some didn't. Same is happening with a lot of 16 year old young men right now. So take your high moral ground and stick it up your behind. |

ashawopikin:So there you have it. You were wrong - a minor CAN'T statutorily rape another minor! |

advanceDNA:Well even in sociology man is regarded as an higher animal. You miss the point. As I've told you, the age of consent is not scientific or based on research as you claimed. You have Google on your phone. Use it. It was 12 at a point before climbing to 14, 16 and some countries like Cameroun put it at 21 presently. The changes were not based on research but the work of social activists and lobby groups like the feminist movement. The present age of 18 is due to such activism. So countries like UK have age of consent as 16 (which means if it was UK, what happened here can't be termed sexual abuse or statutory rape) , while countries like France set it to 18. The fact that there's no universally adopted age shows you that it is not scientific or research based but based on social construct and nuances about protection of the child. Again, there's a wide boundary between legality and morality. Morality is highly subjective. Some people frowned at Pa Ned marrying Regina while for her and her family, they felt it was better for her to marry a rich, old man than gallivanting around town Ruth a young man in her age grade. Today she's claiming that he took advantage of her innocence to introduce her to drugs. I've not seen any police march on him considering the difference in age, claims and counter claims flying around but everyone can clearly see that even at 25 abi na 24, she's clearly not emotionally and psychologically ripe for marriage. What you still do not understand about my point is that while I agree that there's possibility of sexual exploitation, my point is that the laws governing such are not based on any biological or scientific research but nuances and prevailing opinions about such interactions. Another example. In the UK, a doctor having sexual relationships with a patient can fetch him a loss of his licence. No such condition exists in Nigeria except in cases of mental sickness. It is inappropriate for a doctor to propose a date to a patient in the UK. Nothing of such exists here in Nigeria. So do you now say UK are more morally upright and conservative than Nigeria? Is their decision on doctor-patient relationship based on any scientific research? I've pointed out that emotional maturity is not age based as well. In fact, it is believed that the human brain is fully developed between 25-32 years yet the age of consent is 18. If I have a 15 year old son doing this with a 33 year old man (God forbid) I'll take action against the man and my son cause I'll have imbibed in him lessons on sexual relationships which I expect him to abide with. Now let me ask you since you believe the age of consent cures all ill. If your 18 year old son who is at age of consent is seen in sexual intercourse with a 35 year old man. Will you accept it as two consenting adults doing what they have the right to do? |

Well, that's SpencerForbes:Well, that's another angle given her status supposedly...but the Nigerian context still stands that teenage boys get into amorous relationship with older women due to money. The yahoo boys are a prime example. What they have in terms of money the children of the rich class also have Let's get her own story first |

Morizo:A teacher's authority makes any relationship with a student exploitative, regardless of who initiated it. A minor cannot give free consent in that dynamic. Confidence or wealth doesn't change that—the adult is always responsible for maintaining the boundary. The law exists to protect children from this exact abuse of power. |

It can be emphatically stated that the video was recorded with the consent of the duo citing the position of the camera.Consent of who? Surely with consent of the rapist. A minor cannot give consent. |

Dpsychologist:Stop bringing law when we're talking about reality. Law has a lot to do with logic and argument, are logic and arguments actually portray reality? "By law" that something is like this by law doesn't mean it is what it is in the real world. Law is just a conconcion made by man to guide man. Have you not seen where the culprit goes free and the innocent goes in to languish in detention in law? Law is not a reality, it's just a logic. |

ashawopikin:U wrong. Consensual s'ex between two minors is not a crime. If it is not consensual then it is rape, NOT statutory rape. |

We4all:Greenlight ke? People noticed her movements towards me and asked if I was blind and didn't notice what she was doing. She took advantage of the fact that our families were close. Later she confessed to me that she had been exposed to porn by her friends. Bro, some of these young girls have urges higher than their ages |

Age of consent in Zimbabwe is 16? Why is this here if not for the boy to brag? They were in a relationship if so. Nairaland just used the age difference and sex video to create “eNgaGemEnT.” Useless hypocritical platform. Despite the age of consent, if that was a reverse case, we wouldn’t hear the end of it. Sex is a huge distraction and temporary madness that humans are cursed with. |

QuinQ:Says who? Under the criminal code, and the child right as as amended, except you are under 14, if u as a minor, had sex with another minor, with or without "consent" it's a crime. Oga |
| Re: 33-Year-Old Teacher Molested 16-Year-Old: Why Do We Still Fail The Boy‑child? by QuinQ: 9:49pm On Dec 08, 2025 |
ashawopikin:What sort of yeye "crime"? As amended what? Have you EVER heard of consensual sex between two minors come close to being prosecuted in Nigeria? Ever hesrd of Romeo & Juliet laws? Most statutes criminalizing underage sex are going to specify a minimum age for a perpetrator or a maximum age difference between the parties. |
