You are very correct about this... If there's one thing I like about the Tinubu,it is his taming of the north and putting them in their place, one thing GEJ couldn't and didn't do.
I have been advocating for the entire south and the good people of the middle belt to rally round Tinubu and support him...to support him if he chooses to contest 2027..

But penguin2,the problem ain't the Igbos, the problem is the ways of your fellow yorubas who have become abominable southerners.
The yorubas stake holders have one way or the other chosen to be enemies to other southerners...
I mean, why do we log on here and everyday, you see the likes of Helinues legendhero mccullum goodnewsforlife spagettiluv ttalk flokii (especially this one) hotfreeze yarimo raskymonojendor yorubanibaba hitlerwasright muchado FreeStuffsNG seunmsg adolfhitlerxxx maasoap (this one seems to have been touched that he now attacks Tinubu 😁) and lots lots more attack the Igbos, attack abia state and gov....they even the attack to that south African girl who abandoned the beauty pageant cos they saw chidinma on her name! I read when one was fooling himself to a south African lady and the SA lady told him that there ain't Nigerian embassy for Igbo or yoruba or Hausa but a Nigerian embassy for ALL NIGERIANS!
Very shameful.
The recent protest was staged by northerners who are very disgruntled with tinubu's govt and sowore and the Igbos kept themselves out of it but these same yoruba people still went ahead and tried in vain to heap the blame on the Igbos!
Seunmsg did so on here! Same with Helinues.

In the south west,Lagos for example, the Igbos are mainly into petty and other forms of trading but when you go to the fed govt agencies like the NPA,CUSTOMS,NNPC,DPR,PPPRA,PPPMC,NIMASA,...the bulk of the work force are quota system Hausa Fulanis! I know this cos I'm a seaman.
But yet, yoruba people will still not leave the Igbos alone.
The north is rattled so much right now and are seriously planning against tinubu and we in the south should be making plans too but the only plans being made is yorubas planning "Igbos must go".

It would be disastrous if for any reason, the north get their hands on power again,it will be very disastrous for us all and make no mistakes,I am not Igbo

In politics, the North is a better ally to the South West than the Ibos.

An alliance with Ibos is not beneficial to the Yoruba. What will you bargain with? Numbers or influence?

Lastly, South is just a geographical expression, there is nothing similar in Yoruba and Ibo people culture. We have always bicker amongst ourselves since the 1960, so if we share anything in common, we should have used that to resolve the differences.

The problem most youths on this forum have, especially those from Southwest is that they are not really smart in their thinking, they are just commenting with hatred and dislike for Igbos and Peter Obi without being objective and smart and their foolishness is seriously affecting or will affect Tinubu's chances in 2027 if Tinubu plays according to their ignorant mindset.

This poster gave you guys a daring secret exposure of what played out in 2023 and what is going on in the background.

Bola Tinubu have an agenda to dismantle Northern political influence in Nigeria and Tinubu also have a plan to be the last influential Nigerian President as he plans to restructure Nigeria and return power to regions and LGA levels before he leaves office because he knows that if he fails to do these things before he leaves office, Northern political Mafias will regroup and use it to deal with his family and Yoruba region, so he is working hard to ensure he finishes the battle by dismantling that Northern political influence and grip on Nigeria and I honestly support him in that regard even though the battle is affecting Nigeria economically and otherwise.

In 2023 Northern political Mafias wanted power to remain in the North under APC and when they realized that it may cause an uproar, they reluctantly chose to push the power to Atiku which was what gave Atiku the confidence not to bother about Wike and his Asoebi men's shenanigans because Atiku was so confident of his Northern brothers secret support.

Tinubu being a smart politician worked on El Rufai's greed for power by quickly aligning with El Rufai to deceive him into thinking Tinubu would pick him as Running mate. Tinubu still deceived him after picking Shettima by making him his point man he was carrying about to key campaign moves including the one at London.

Tinubu outsmarted the North in several ways and I give him kudos because he knew Northerners wouldn't have allowed him become President if he didn't act sick and about to die. He also knew that it would be difficult for him if he didn't carry El Rufai and co along, so he played them all. Even Aliko Dangote's ordeal is all part of Tinubu's decision to dismantle Northern political and economic influence in Nigeria and I commend Tinubu on that.

Now like the Op rightfully pointed out, Northerners are trying to work on Peter Obi with an agreement to align with Atiku to defeat Tinubu in 2027 so that Obi would then take over in 2031 to do one tenure and return power back to North.

And if they succeed in convincing Peter Obi to become Atiku's running mate in 2027, believe me, they might win Tinubu. Though the only challenge they would have is that if Peter Obi agrees to deputize Atiku in 2027, Obi will not get massive votes from Igbo youths like he got in 2023, Obi will also lose most Yoruba youth votes he got in 2023, but with a mass Northern vote Atiku/Obi would secure in 2027 if they marge together, it will overshadow the votes they would lose from Igbo and Yoruba youths that supported Obi in 2023.

If Tinubu wants to checkmate their moves, what Tinubu should do now is to first realize that his Northern game is over and face South to consolidate his support base in the south and Middlebelt by doing the below things:

1.) Tell COAS and IGP to work seriously together to curb Fulani herdsmen attacks in Middlebelt states like Benue, Plateau, Kogi, etc

2.) Initiate or create a Middlebelt Development Commission to return back displaced Middlebelt indigenes and farmers

3.) Release Nnamdi Kanu at all cost without minding whatever nonsense his Yoruba kinsmen maybe thinking, this will return peace to Southeast and win Tinubu large supporters that Obi would lose should he mistakenly decide to deputize Atiku.

4.) Work seriously to actualize the extra one state in Southeast.

5.) Start paying Niger Delta youths a monthly stipend of say NGN50,000 in the name of any reason he can come up with, and this should be initiated around beginning of 2026 so it won't deplete Nigeria's scarce resources.

If Tinubu work on these points I raised, he would most likely checkmate Northerners and whatever sinister plans they may have and will win again in 2027
Everything you said here is actually what it is Sir

I may not like Tinubu, but we can't take that away from him the fact that he has proven time and time again to be a master strategist

He beat the Northerners to their own game, i seriously give that Man credit for that.

I'm touched just the way an average man is touched but I'm not on extreme ends. The last time I used my hand to work for money, any work for that matter was early 2018. I have quite a few family men working under me, they went out daily and bring money to me if you understand.
But this politics and governance are two different things that many of you failed to understand or differentiate. I supported APC as a politician but I should be able to speak out if and when they're doing opposite of what they promised people, when they failed to deliver.
I go out everyday to socialise and I see what people are passing through. Yet, I know some people who are really suffering but are still adamantly defending Tinubu, that makes me different from them.
BTW: I don't do Igbo shiitt. I don't have time for any group of people having victim mentality, meanwhile, they themselves are not innocent as we've seen it here already.

Caveat: There's need to state that by 'north' here, I am referring to the northern mafias, Kaduna Mafia if you please, who have over the years constituted themselves as kingmakers of Nigeria whereby only the person they approve of can become president of Nigeria whether from their northern region or the south. So, by north, I'm not referring to the entire region nor the poor northern masses who are mere victims of the machinations of this mafia over the years.

Now that we have stated that, let's into the meat of this piece.
Now, why are they angry? You might ask.

1) Subsidy: Since Tinubu took power, he removed subsidy. When they talk about the vultures that were

Any critical follower of politics in Nigeria will know that the high turnout of protesters in the north in the recently concluded #EndBadGovernance Protest was engineered by this northern mafia as a way of registering their frustration at how powerless they've become since they conspired to hand power over to Tinubu; maybe because they thought he was frail and might go the Yaradua way but man seems to have gotten new life since he was sworn in. The north has never been as powerless, politically, as they are now, and it seems Tinubu is bent on making sure he breaks their hold on Nigeria which was used to making them think they own the country. They are afraid of this happening but I think it's too late for them already.

Many may not have realized the game the north wanted to play in 2023 but I will mention it.

In 2023, this northern cabal wanted to retain power in the north through Atiku and the plan was to ensure that they make rubbish of the APC ticket to prevent a strong candidate from emerging so that Atiku's path will be smoother. This is why they wanted to useless the APC ticket by announcing Ahmed Lawan as consensus candidate. They knew nobody would vote Lawan which would leave Atiku as the most manageable option. But something happened.

Throughout their years of calculations and strategy before the 2023 elections, they never envisaged Peter Obi. They never knew that a certain Peter Obi would go to a different party and take the eastern and northern Christians votes they were banking on for Atiku away from him.

When the Peter Obi wave became too much and the north saw that the Atiku project will no longer work, add Wike and his Asoebi boys’ shenanigans too, they were now faced with a choice of either allowing Peter Obi ride on his wave to victory or ‘deliver’ Tinubu. They chose Tinubu instead. Yeah, I said they chose Tinubu because what happened in 2023 elections wouldn't have happened if these 'owners of Nigeria' were not in support.

Obasanjo knew what he was talking about, and the people he was referring to when he wrote his open letter endorsing Peter Obi in 2023.

Why did they choose Tinubu?

Many factors contributed to them choosing Tinubu. First, Peter Obi is an Igbo man, a tribe they are scared of allowing get power for whatever fear they harbour. Again, Tinubu’s Muslim Muslim ticket, which was specifically chosen to deceive them and it worked, making them think they were doing Allah’s work by choosing Tinubu. Similarly, during campaigns, Tinubu seemed he was nearing his death. So, their calculation may have been that if he goes the way of Yaradua, then power will return to the region faster.

All these and other factors made them decide that Tinubu should have it and instruction was given as such which is why a character like Mahmoud Yakubu could do what he did because he was acting on instruction from his superiors already; that’s aside the money that may have exchanged hands also.

All of this is why the north feels Tinubu owes them.
benefiting and feeding fat on subsidy payments, believe me when I tell you that most of them were northerners. Tinubu’s removal, or redirection, of subsidy payment has taken feeding bottle off their mouth and they are fighting back.

2) Exchange Rate Unification: It’s common knowledge that northerners dominate the Bureau De Change market in Nigeria with claims having been made in the past that these men used to source their dollar directly from the CBN and resell at Black Market rate to make excessive profit at the expense of Nigerians. The exchange rate unification has taken food from a lot of northern Alhajis who are the real owners of these businesses.

3) Appointments: The north spent 8 years defending Buhari's nepotistic appointments and justifying them with the most irrational reasons ever heard. What they never imagined is that a time would come when they would be the ones crying against another person's nepotism. Yes, Tinubu has broken every nepotistic record set by Buhari with nearly 80% of the appointments he has made since he took power going to the Yoruba, and the north considers that an affront. They feel they deserved more from Tinubu for 'helping' him to power. Again, they feel only one of theirs can dare to be nepotistic as Buhari was. How dare a southerner?

4) Politically: Politically, Tinubu seems to have succeeded in keeping every member of that evil circle away from his government like the likes of Elrufai, and they are not happy they are not inside. If anything, the reason somebody like Elrufai supported Tinubu was because he wanted to be Vice President. But with Tinubu shutting him out now, he has seen the pathway to his presidency dimmed which would delay, or kill, whatever agenda they want to achieve with power which they fail to achieve with Buhari.

5) Restructuring and Regionalism: If there’s anything the north hates, it’s the idea of Nigeria being restructured and the country going back to regionalism which they feel would greatly put them at a disadvantage as they are the biggest beneficiaries of the current dysfunctional structure. Now, during campaigns, Tinubu never said anything about restructuring but since he took power, we have seen documents flying around in the media space on how Nigeria is to be restructured with even a proposed return to regionalism. The presidency has never disowned this document which has heightened the fear of the north that their greatest fear might end up happening from someone they thought had no interest in that without realizing that they were simply played. Or maybe they have realized.

In a nutshell, the north was beaten at their own game in 2023 and now they are looking for a way out.

In looking for this way out, they have started fraternizing with Peter Obi to try to convince him to be Atiku’s running mate in 2027 so that Atiku can hand over to him after 4 years.

But I write this to tell Peter Obi to never make himself available for such deal in 2027.

In 2027, the north must choose between Peter Obi or Tinubu.

If they fear Igbo man so much that they cannot allow him get to power then I don’t mind Southeast voting for Tinubu to continue in power. And once Tinubu gets his second tenure and has nothing to lose anymore, he would finish off everything he has eyes on - to ensure Nigeria is completed restructured with a return to regionalism.

So, in conclusion, in 2027, the north must choose between southern candiates and no southerner, not much Peter Obi, should help save them from the misery they got themselves into by themselves.

I’ve seen early signs of them trying to throw the Jonathan joker in 2027 but that’s story for another day as we watch events unfold.

Checkmate? More like checkmated his own chances!

Peter Obi should be focusing on how to checkmate his own party crisis first before trying to checkmate the North. All this talk about helping or not helping is just noise.

The North is not the problem here; it’s his inability to hold a party together that’s the real issue. If he spent half the energy he uses in making noise on actually uniting his followers, maybe we would have seen some real progress.

Instead, what we see is a man who jumps from one party to another like a kid in a candy store, thinking he can still be taken seriously.

At this point, na him dey checkmate himself, and it's clear he’s only helping his own downfall.

Without the East in 2003, Obasanjo will still win.

Check the votes margin here. Do you want to tell me the South East have ability to churn out that difference to Buhari?

Obasanjo won with 12million margin.
Typical of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway propaganda merchandise.

You have shown us the total result, why not show us the state by state vote tabulation let's the percentage Southeast gave Obasanjo?

And that to the fact that wherever the Southeast goes, the South South and Northern Christians go.

You people don't think

APC being booted out is greater than any sentiments you might hold. Power in South currntly does not benefit Southerners as long as its an APC govt.
Penguin2:
Power must remain in the south.

If the north is tired of Tinubu, then let them vote for Peter Obi.

But if they can't vote Peter Obi because he's Igbo man, then let Tinubu continue.

The Wike part is a big fat lie. Wike fought for the PDP ticket to be zoned to the south and never opposed that arrangement. The PDP had absolutely no intention at any time of microzoning the ticket to the SE.

In fact, Peter Obi was working against PDP zoning the ticket to the south because he wanted to become Atiku’s running mate. That was why Wike and his supporters fought him till he ran away when he saw that he won’t get the VP ticket.

Wike’s quest for a southern presidential PDP candidate that Atiku and northern elements jeopardize was what pushed him and his group to work against Atiku.
You Yorubas love petty lies
PO worked against the SE?!
In other words, he worked against himself!!!

Exactly!

Assist in the building of a Seaport in Abia.

Direct International Airlines to open branches in Enugu for Igbos to fly from the East.

Release Nnamdi Kanu to stop insecurity in the Southeast.

Command his Lagos touts to cease all anti Igbo rhetorics and actions.

And then the Igbos will consider doing business with him.
I'm with you on this

Atiku has jumped to another party before Peter Obi. What do you have to say?

I still insist that power must remain in the south.

Peter Obi should not help the north return to power.

Lol. Tinubu scored 8m+ votes in 2023, and 5.6m votes out of these was from the North. The North came through and repaid him for a previous support in 2015. The South didn't vote for Tinubu. It's on record that Northern governors championed his re-election against all odds. Tinubu didn't even campaign in the East. Where then is all that talk about checkmating the North coming from? Obi should step aside and support Tinubu if the goal is really to checkmate the North. Otherwise, he will only be complicating Tinubu's chances by balkanising the Southern votes, thereby making Tinubu even more reliant on Northern votes, just like in 2023. Politics is not an emotional sport, and facts are sacred. Every political cycle, every other region horsetrades, strike unemotional deals, and leave with concessions for their region, except one. They claim to be unbothered and try to make up for it with pyrrhic victories and other mundane things like claims of ethnic superiority but still cry about marginalisation. If you now claim to support Tinubu, it's because you've been conquered and have surrendered and not because you think your votes can now make him win. Tinubu himself knows it and he already proved he can win without your votes. The North is hardly ever out of power. Not now (a Northerner is V.P), not in 2027 and certainly not in 2031. Just different power blocs. In the end, ensure you're negotiating something for your region beyond emotions. Lessons.

Who told you I’m Yoruba?🤔

Re: The North Has Been Checkmated, And Peter Obi Must Not Help Them. by okoloto:
The north brags because of their unity unlike the south where one tribe thinks they are smarter than others and trusting them is like swimming in an ocean. You can meet anything in the process because they talk with the two side of their mouth. Only good in propaganda and deceit, while playing politics of division and hate as long as it is favoring them. I'm not ibo but with what has happened, politics of hate and disunity, the Igbo may go for Atiku forget their governor's decamping to APC.
If not, the south can also form a formidable, political force. Everything about Nigeria favors the north. But come 2027, Atiku may win the election. The 8 years to the north and 8 years to the south is a hearsay and not in the constitution. It's just a political strategy coiled out by some political elites for their interest. If north collects power, it may not get back to the south in a long time because of the disunity except the north again decides to compensate them. The best shot for the SE is presenting a VP in obi to Atiku as SW president is not better for them except the north decides to fully back obi.
Re: The North Has Been Checkmated, And Peter Obi Must Not Help Them. by Streetinvestor2: 8:34am On Dec 08, 2025
SW president will never see 10k vote from SE whether Obi is contesting or not
So we should vote SW president because the north is enemy to SE.What a joke. Why did u say what the SE has benefited since u had SW president.
The only thing SE has benefited
1 The bringing down of thr properties in lagos most painful land mark
2.The sentencing of Kanu which is a trophy the SW sees against the SE.
Finally SE are better with north for 2027
