Nigerian Air Force conducts Multiple Precision airstrikes on fleeing coup plotters in Benin Republic

By: Zagazola Makama

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out strategic airstrikes on fleeing elements of the recently foiled military coup in the Benin Republic, security sources have confirmed.

Zagazola Makama was reliably informed by sources that the operation targeted coup plotters and their equipments attempting to escape Cotonou in armoured vehicles following the swift intervention by loyalist forces in the country.

The airstrikes, executed over the past 30 minutes, involved multiple coordinated strikes carried out by Nigerian fighter jets operating within Beninese airspace.

“The operation was meticulously planned and executed. Our objectives were clear: neutralize fleeing hostile elements, prevent regrouping, and restore stability in coordination with regional partners,” the sources stated.

The sources emphasized that all actions were conducted in conscent of Benin authorities as well as in strict adherence to international protocols to minimise collateral damage while maximising operational impact.

Eyewitnesses reported multiple explosions in strategic locations across Cotonou, confirming the effectiveness of the strikes. The sources said that the strikes successfully immobilized the armoured vehicles and disrupted escape routes used by the coup plotters and killing several of them.

The intervention comes in the wake of a failed coup led by Lt. Pascal Tigri, who had briefly attempted to dissolve state institutions and seize full military control of Benin Republic. Following the foiled takeover, key insurgent elements attempted to flee southward, prompting Nigeria’s rapid aerial response.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to safeguarding regional security and protecting the sovereignty of neighbouring states,” A top Military officer said. “Our operations are intelligence-driven, precise, and aimed at preventing any spillover that could threaten our borders.”

Zagazola report that this marks one of the most decisive and high-profile Nigerian Military cross-border operations in recent West African history, illustrating Nigeria’s readiness to act decisively against destabilising threats in the region.

Efforts are ongoing to assess the full impact of the airstrikes and to coordinate with Beninese authorities for follow-up operations, including the apprehension of surviving coup plotters.

THE GIANT OF AFRICA.

We are not called that for no reason... wink

In fact the entire West Africa owes its stability to Nigeria.

If you visit Sierra Leone or Liberia today as a Nigerian, they literally worship the ground you walk on, due to their memory of how the Nigerian military ended their wars....

The so-called terrorists and bandits are backed by retired Generals. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Our Police and Soldiers are good outside the country, corrupt at home.

What sort of propaganda is this for God's sake? No shame, no iota of integrity, just lies upon lies upon lies upon lies.
A coup was already foiled by loyalist in the Beninois military but here is Nigerian military beating their chests for something they didn't do. Chai... politicizing everything just to score points

No, it is because those Bandits and terrorists are the brothers and friends of the North. If Benin Republic were to share boundary with the North, the northerners would have started making noise all over social media that the government have attacked there brothers and they will become very angry with the governmentand start to threaten them with 2027 election just like they didn't allow constitutional order back to Niger Republic.

Re: Nigerian Air Force Strikes Benin Republic Fleeing Coup Plotters by emkz: 4:49am On Dec 08, 2025
Let it be stated to the children who have not overcome the sobering defeat they received in 2023.

Nigeria's intervention in Benin under the auspices of ECOWAS standby force was at the request of the Beninoise legitimate authorities. Tinubu did not invade a sovereign nation. There is no double standard.

Why do these children wish for political instability in Nigeria and neighbouring countries? We recall how some of them went to Defence HQ to ask if the military would watch as Bola Tinubu would be sworn in. Yet, one of their warlords, a failed politician, was on Channels TV saying that swearing in Bola Tinubu would be ending democracy in Nigeria.

Who wanted to end democracy in Nigeria if not sore election losers?

PS: As for those saying the Nigerian Airforce cannot bomb insurgents, let it be also stated that insurgents collect daily, but making a show of it removes the element of surprise which is critical. As you can see, the coupists were caught offguard and had no time to respond, which caused the coup to fail. How can you shit air space without the capacity to enforce it?

The way tinubu hates that word coup ehn. But the truth is only military rule seems to work in Africa. Democracy doesn't seem to be working. How many coups both successful and abortive have taken place. I still maintain apart from military dictatorship and monarchy all African leaders are imperialism puppets. E.g Paul biya

The same country that is incarcerating Nigerians in their prisons, subjecting them to hash conditions just because they're Nigerians, but it is Nigeria that's helping them now, the foolish man will not use this opportunity to request for the release of all Nigerians in their prisons just like America will do for their their citizens
