Heavy Gridlock On 3rd Mainland Bridge — Total Standstill Near Iyana Oworo by Odewaleadesoye(op): 8:01am On Dec 08, 2025
There is currently a massive gridlock on the 3rd Mainland Bridge, especially around the Iyana Oworo axis for those heading towards the Island.

Traffic has come to a complete standstill and commuters are stranded on the bridge. Some people have already started turning back home.

The situation was caused by an accident involving a trailer, leading to the blockage.

If you’re heading to the Island this morning, please be aware and consider alternative routes.

Stay safe, everyone.

...and this is exactly why companies in Lagos really need to embrace remote work. Every single day, one accident or roadblock can shut down the entire city. People waste hours in traffic for something that can easily be done from home. We can reduce stress, save time, and still get the job done.
why are we still stuck in the old system?

Of course not every industry can be remote, manufacturing, logistics, and similar sectors must be onsite. But many office-based roles don’t have to be in the same traffic every morning. Remote or hybrid options for those roles would reduce congestion and improve productivity. Not everything needs to be 100% remote before we admit it works.

You see Mondays and Fridays? I personally avoid any business on the Island. The traffic stress on those days is on another level. That’s exactly why flexible or remote options make sense where possible.
