Why is the Nigerian media so inconsistent in its reporting? Why do they keep labeling perpetrators as ‘unknown gunmen’ when security agencies already link many of these attacks to specific armed groups? If certain organizations, whether ESN/IPOB or any other group are involved in violent attacks, the media should state the facts accurately instead of hiding behind vague descriptions.

Government also needs to be sincere and decisive about addressing insecurity nationwide. These violent crimes against innocent Nigerians should be called what they are: acts of terrorism. Honest reporting and transparent action are necessary for real progress.
